Bob Chaulk is amazing. HIs research helped me find a clue to my 3rd great grandfather, a survivor of the Atlantic. My relative lost his masonic apron and paperwork in the wreck. It washed up on the shore and Bob found an article in the Halifax paper reporting on the items being found washed up on the beach after the wreck. This article has helped me confirm the address of my relative in Liverpool and connect with long lost relatives. THANK YOU
Its just so sad that after it sank, the wreck was tampered with in such a way, it makes me wonder what it would look like if it wasn't touched after it sank.🤔
The story of this wreck is amazing. It's incredible to me that none of the women on board survived. It got me wondering if the SS Atlantic wreck could have been the catalyst to White Star's policy regarding female passengers and their priority by the time of the Titanic sinking where there was so much emphasis on "Women and Children First".
J&G Meakin had a MASSIVE shipment of plain white ironstone for distribution in the US to hotels that was stored in the cargo hold. It literally took up most of cargo holds 1 and 2. I believe the actual White Star Line china was a different maker.
Part-Time Explorer Hm, good to know. The cup and saucer I have aren’t ironstone, but they have the same logo and everything. Maybe they were made around the same time period.
I'm mot familiar with this ship nor its story. (They actually called it Saloon rather than Salon?) That, I'm also not familiar with. SS Atlantic, 1870, I shall take a look.
I’m a little confused.. in the video where you explain what happened, you say the exact location of the Atlantic is unknown and that it would likely be nothing left by now because it was a wooden ship. But then he mentions some of the artifacts coming from dives.. where did they dive to get them if they never located the resting place of the ship? Also, I can’t believe there hasn’t been a movie about this. It’s crazy how they all acted when it came down to it. We all wanna think that we’d act noble in a moment of tragedy but this shows a different aspect to that.

Are you ever going to officially upgrade to Full-Time Explorer? (Because this appears to be a full-time avocation!) Good job!
It’s April 1st guys, lets take a moment to remember the 562 people that perished exactly 147 years ago
I saw this one before but I liked it so much I watched it again

When I was a child whenever my mother got me new patten leather shoes she would scratch the bottom so I would slip when I walked.
wouldn't
Thank you so much for this video!
Was that the actual White Star Flag from the vessel? If it was, wow!
it sure is
Lucky for bob my school now has his book “Atlantics last stop” in its library
I hope to be able to visit this unique museum one day and meet Mr Chaulk.
well the anniversary comes again and I strongly believe there should be a ss atlantic society convention cuz this ship seems forgotten
I wonder if that William garvey was my relative ?
Enter his name and death date and where he sailed from as origin. See what happens.

You are thinking of the Arctic. 😉
@@milliped_e you’re right..
Maybe we could do a SS ATLANTIC mini game (kinda like the new BRITANNIC game)? ...
Just a thought...
You should get the book and read it
