Several years ago my husband and I visited this area. Back then we did not see any No Trespassing signs, for if we had seen them, we definitely would not have gone onto the property, for we always adhere to private property signs. There have been others who have filmed this area as well. Good video. Enjoyed it.
Yes, much thanks to Billy... This was another topnotch, well researched adventure you brought us on, Andrea and Steven. I love the way you not only document the remains of buildings and settlements, but personalize the experiences, as well. We are reminded that real people lived, worked, and died 🙏🏼 in these locations. 🌼🌿🌻
Billy was wonderful. He gave us some of the history behind the buildings. It was a bonus that his grandparents built and worked there. It is great that we were able to meet someone who has deep ties to the area and the knowledge to bring the past back to life.
Did you have a chance to drive further up the main road (Custer Motorway) to visit the town of Custer? That's another old town that's filled with a lot of interesting buildings, mining equipment, and even a poker table with a bullet hole in it.
Me & my husband just discovered your show the past couple of weeks & we LOVE it! I love that you travel to all the ghost towns & share the history of the areas. I enjoy watching and it is so easy to watch. Thank you for sharing your travels to these fun places with us. I am looking forward to checking out all your shows & many more you share! 🥰 (We live in Utah)
Thank you very much, Leslie. We have many more adventures to come and not all of them are ghost towns. We both love history and find it so incredibly interesting to explore and research the places. Some of our earlier videos are a little cringe-worthy and we didn't have mics back then. Hopefully, you will enjoy them just at much.
@@PinInTheAtlas There is not a doubt we will enjoy all your videos. You both are fun people & thank you again for what you do! Utah has some amazing places to explore. A lot of history here. Good luck in your endeavors!
Landscape is awesome and the cabins fit in well with the surroundings. Love the background true stories. Always try and visit cemeteries - gives a feel for the place. Great work guys ! 🙌🏽🤙🏽
It’s great that you were allowed to document this little town. Enjoyed the building’s and scenery. I would imagine the snow in winter has also taken its toll..
That was pretty neat. The story of Lizzy has the making's of a old Western Movie or TV Series. One of the old Carvan has rubber tires. They were built some time in the early 1900's. So parts of the town was still influx even during the 1900's. Thanks Billy for allowing the remains of the town to be video!🙂👍
So many different building techniques, that makes it hard to age. I should think the heavy snow fall every year has taken it's toll on the structures over the years since they were abandoned. Bonanza I remember that series my grandfather and father were well into the cowboy era, tv program's films and books dozens of them LOL. Sad story just goes to show how far back this sort of revenge killing's happened so nothing new. The wheeled buildings were probably built to keep up with the rise and demise of towns when something valuable was dug out then the bust when the Gol. Silver etc ran dry easier to put your cows horse's or motorised vehicle to move to the next Gold rush pull up and either start mining or selling your wares or food stuff, so no delay while building a dwelling and better than a flimsy tent in the harsh enviroment. Again thanks for the tour much enjoy them.
The harsh winters most certainly have added to the dilapidation. At least there was no graffiti or signs of vandalism. We remember Bonanza too. It was a great TV show with plenty of re-runs. We figured that the buildings on wheels had been moved from further up the town, and it makes sense what you suggested about people being able to move their homes more easily. Glad you enjoyed our explore, Nick.
What a beautiful place. The story was so interesting. Who knows what really happened. Love stories are so interesting. So nice they gave someone stating there. What a place to stay at. Awesome. I’d love it. Thanks to Billy for letting us visit his place. Hanks guys
You are so welcome! This area has lots of interesting places to explore, including the Yankee Dredge, which is our next video. There are several ghost towns and even hot springs.

You can see some of the buildings along the road, and anyone can go to both of the cemeteries. The saloon which Billy's grandpa built and the barn (plus a few others) are all on private property, so permission is required.
Great video as always. Appreciate the work you put in to make these. I always learn something new by watching! I never thought about the way graves are placed, and looked it up! Some of the ancient religions (based on the sun) would bury the dead facing east so that they could face the "new day" and the "rising sun." Fascinating stuff! Thanks for expanding my brain wonderful travelers! Always look forward to your videos! 👍

That solid rubber, wood spoked tire is quite the find. 4:30. Maybe off of a 1915 Smith Form-A-Truck - Model T Ford. It would be fun to contact Bodie State Park and ask the Park Ranger’s if they have any history on Richard and Lizzy. They are on Facebook and it’s amazing what they know about Bodie and its population. They really left Bodie before she hit her peak, so I wonder why they moved north?

The gravesites are really intriguing, given the story and great old towns.
Love the old stories of these places!
I suspect the small cabin on wheels was a sheepherder's home. They first roamed with their herds using covered wagons, later used small trailers.
Never thought of that, Jan. Sounds logical now you mention it.
