That is so great ! You are a great mom and now you can focus on living instead of surviving! I am so happy for you and your family!

I can empathise about your ambivalence about a transplant. The feeling of "owning" your situation, your problems, and not being beholden to anyone else to save you from your problems. And also the guilt and the feeling that you did this to yourself, and that you deserve what you got/had.
    I feel it too.
My first reaction was that this is on me. I should have watched what I ate, what I drank, exercise, took better care of myself, etc. This was all on me.
And so i considered if I should just let nature take its course. Let the disease run its course naturally. Just manage the symptoms and slip away sleepily. I've had 2 minor strokes, and a heart attack. And I have diabetes and hypertension. Why haven't I gotten the message? God/mybody/nature has been slowly trying to kill me. :-) Why continue to resist?
    Because we live.
I am glad for you and hope you are doing well. Keep living. Honour the sacrifice and gift of your donor. And don't feel guilty. Yes, you could have controlled your impulses and excesses (while on PD and to prevent kidney failure). We all could have.
BUT your situation is not your fault. And you deserve life and happiness. And your kids deserve to have their mom with them. And I cannot speak for the donor, but being a mom with 2 kids herself, I think she identifies with you. If it helps, as a mother she felt for your kids and empathise. If it helps, she did this for your kids, because she saw in your kids, her own kids. And she wanted to help another mother be all that she can be as a mother.
So honour the sacrifice and the gift. Live the gift.
    And thank you for sharing.

Didn’t realize you got your kidney when I messaged you the other day. I am so very happy for you. October 15th is my birthday! What a coincidence! Very thankful for your input, we start our PD training tomorrow.

    Hello Kelsie!
I am so excited to see part 2... I am on the verge of a transplant myself and wondering what your journey has been like post-surgery... Any idea when you will have part 2 available?
Thank you so much for all you have done! The education was priceless as I navigated through.

Omgosh, that's fantastic. I'm so happy for you. Congratulations Kelsie, you deserve this kidney and we all know you're going to take really good care of it. Here we call living donors that are strangers altruistic donors. It's such a selfless act. Such beautiful people.
I had a heart transplant 6 years ago and the surgery damaged my kidneys. I was stable at stage 3 since my transplant in April 2014. Six years later, I was devastated by my lab results. I'm watching your videos to educate myself, knowledge is power. God bless you. xxx

Hello. :) I’m so sorry to hear of your health over the past years. I hope your story ends with a quick and happy ending. Be persistent! I had over 50 people get tested and my donor turned out to be an angel on earth who donated anonymously. There’s so much good out in the world. Pray often and keep your heart full of hope. God Bless

Ya Boi JB Dougy thank you for your comment! God bless your grandpa- I hope he can gain a sustainable lifestyle with a transplant one day! It’s not a cure, but it’s definitely preferred way to live with kidney disease! Hoping for stem cells and/or bionic kidney in the very near future!

Hi Kelsie, thank you for giving me some hope. God sent you an angel I’m praying for mine. I’m a mom of two little boys turning 39 this October the 22nd been doing Dialysis for 5 months. I wish I had the courage to ask for a kidney 😢 I can’t.. Don’t know how. I feel guilty asking for so much.. I’m type A positive wishing to be lucky to find one from a corpse one day. 🙏

First congratulations second I want to thank you. I felt so disappointed today I went to my second evaluation appointment to get on the transplant list. I was told I was a hard match due to a previous transplant and two pregnancies and blood transfusions! I want to just quit & stay on hemo dialysis but I think of my kids & husband! Thank you 😊 I wish you all the luck!!! Please give us info on how you were able to get a transplant?? I’m so clueless on how to use social media. Again your journey gave me hope once again!

Please post another update on post transplant. How is your body doing with the antirejection drugs and the immune suppressors? what are things you didn't expect?
