- Lt Gen Kuldip Singh Brar is a veteran of the 1971 India-Pakistan War and the liberation of Bangladesh. He was also the commanding officer of Operation Blue Star and to this day, he remains on the hit list of Khalistani terrorists. In an informative conversation with Smita Prakash, 89-year-old Lt Gen Brar explains the preparations that went behind Operation Blue Star and the situation in Punjab during that time. He describes, in gripping detail, the operation and the events that followed. He recalls the assassination attempt on him by Khalistani terrorists ten years ago in London and how he fought back. In this video, he narrates his experience during the 1971 India-Pakistan War and the inside story of General Niazi’s surrender.

One of the best podcasts I've heard taking one to tears when an Indian's soldiers legs are amputated receiving his Ashoka chakra to an overwhelming event of the major general speaking to his 'enemy' friend Niazi's wife inviting him for kabab after Niazi taken as a war prisoner.
It doesn't fail to touch the human side of the Indian Army.

@@chandra_himanshu I'm a Filipino just studying south asian history so forgive me for asking, but I had assumed that it was Tikka that was in command during the perpetration of most of the crimes against humanity and that Niazi was put in place there when the situation was already completely untenable
It took balls I am sure to sit in that car and drive to the Pak army high command.
It sounds easy today but hats off to Gen Gandharv Nagra, you and fellow officers to go in there and have a pow wow in person with Niazi.

She stood so strong against the US and the UK and even achieved an even better achievement: getting recognition for Bangladesh in UNO.agaist all ods from the US. 90000 solders never surrendered
It is a big lie from india which exaggerates it's victory
There were no more than 45000 soldiers in East pakistan,it is was impossible to supply troops more than that
45000 Pakistani soldeirs were fighting against 175000 mukhti bahinis for more than 6 months,it's airforce and army was badly exhausted
When India attacked with 5 corps containing 2 lakh force and fully supplied airforce,pakistani soldiers defended galantly however they were without supplies,Bengalis had destroyed east Pakistan supply system so pak army in the eastern part was hopeless and starving
After a struggle ,25000 regular soldiers ,8 thousand razakars (volunteer)and 7 to 8 thousand paramilitary personnel such as airforce and police surrender to indian army
It was almost 40000 soldiers ,not 90000
Also mukhti bahini supported by India alone had 175000 troops far more than pakistani 45000 troops
Pakistan still held territory for 6 months before India attacked already exhausted military
Also west Pakistan never surrendered,it was a unilateral ceasefire,sadly even pakistani media does not know it and we are always humiliated

Pakistani military in Bengal was isolated and out of supply fighting against mukhti bahini with indian and Soviet support ,how can Pakistan military kill so many civilians without ammunition when it already is desperate against mukhti bahinis, yes pakistani troops did kill some people but because of stress and that those so called civilians were destroying pakistani supply depots and railway that's why pakistani soldiers killed some people,most were killed by mukhti bahini who thought that bangalis are supporting Pakistan

All Bangladeshi should watch this. As a Bangladeshi I know how ungrateful my countryman are towards India for 1971. If India didn’t help us we could never be independent. Here, religious hatred played a major roll. Muslims are ungrateful by default to other religious group. As an Ex Muslim I know our mass people’s mentality a lot. I wish after 71 India would take this land as her another state.
