I have the bs4 version and I travel to my hometown (520 km)every week. I usually leave between 4 am to 5 and reach there between 11 am to 12 pm, I take only 1 break at around 200 +km midway. Its comfortable for given price with less electronic mumbo-jumbo.
How much mileage does it give you on this journey?
@@kumarsaieshrane9692 it's arround 30kmpl.
From which place to whch location do you travel..what's ur idea about adv390 for the same...thnq
@@kiru4258 adv 390 is better option for touring. Milage will be less but you will have more throttle to play with and do higher top speed(still there is not going to be much time difference in the total travel). If you have budget and don't do off-road as much than always go for 390 adv. I will never suggest anyone to buy BMW g310 cuz there are no service centres atleast 500-800 kms range on the highways. Not even jawa have enough service center in many cities. Always go with the company which has a showroom in at least 100 kms( jawa charge 40rs/km after 100 ke if you are stuck on the highway). Highway touring has danger and challenges on every curve so be ready and prepared. Go for 390 adv it's a awesome bike
I watch Itchy Boots, She bought her bike in India and rides it over some of the roughest

Absolutely! She just traded in her Indian model for the European model because of problems getting an Indian version to South America.

Sweet exhaust sound👍
I agree!
Around 140 km/h for a 24.5HP bike stock is nice. If you change the exhaust and the air filter it might be able to push a bit past 140 km/h. Great fuel economy and the sound is awesome! Plus it can literally go everywhere all at a nice price. I want one!!!!
The question is if you want to go faster with a bike like this.
@@MotoSnax Well to be 100% honest...nope...for me 120-130 km/h is good for a trip. Just saying that with an aftermarket filter and exhaust the bike will run smoother at these speeds if I'm right. I might as well be wrong though...still I would buy one of these if I had the money.
Would be nice if it ran 120-130 km/h at a lower rpm. You can do that by changing the sprockets but then it will pull less hard. A bigger cylinder would be better. 600-650cc or so.
very good video.
The (US spec) 2016 Honda CRF250L that I had (mechanically stock, Shinko 705 tires, racks/3 hard cases, windshield) did 86MPH and was climbing when I backed out to get off at my exit when I still owned it, and would do so regularly (before people say "no it didn't", it's on video and GPS confirmed on the video), but I would imagine it doesn't have the near bottom end torque of the Himalayan (I have great interest in the Himalayan FWIW, this was intended only for comparison sake where you mention in the comments it feels like a 250, not as a "well mine did that!" kinda rude comment or anything like that). Love it in black, good looking bike, my friend! 👍
Don't expect too much of the torque. It only has 32 Nm of torque. Now I know you don't use newton meters for torque, but for comparison, the 398cc Suzuki DRZ400 has about 22% more torque than the 411cc. DRZ400 has about 39 Nm of torque. I can feel that difference. It pulls a little bit more powerful than the CRF250L, but not that much. Maybe you won't even feel it because of the extra weight. Anyway, comparing the air cooled Himalayan to the liquid cooled DRZ is apples and oranges.
Hi Mr (or Mrs) Snax, cheers for the vid. I've recently got a carby Himalayan (6000km). Born again rider... all runs well but it seams a bit thirsty from first impressions. Travelling at about 100kmph in NZ.?? Full tank to trip F flashing after 200km. Anyhoo, I Like Orange, Chur.
I don't know how much it consumes, I did a quick run on this bike, I don't own it. Maybe other viewers can tell.
It goes 140km+ more from the moment trip f flashes....I've tested on mine...and I've got about 180kms of trip f

@@MotoSnax Yeah with $9k on the road. Thanks, I'll keep honda cb500x with same cargo setup for $7.5k. Stock himalayan is ~$6k on the road
They should make her a brand ambassador instead
@@oknevals lmao what royal Enfield cost less than 2800 dollars on road😂 and Honda cost 9k dollars
@@rajendertkr I think you misunderstood something. In Austin Texas, Himalayan MSRP is $5100 in the only dealership that sells it. That means $6400 on the road after destination, setup and financial fees, tax and registration. Honda is sold by several dealers and stock cb500x can be put on the road just under $7000 (even less if lucky find). To add Givi racks is another $400 so, $7500 is realistic price for cbx with similar setup. That means price difference is 1000-1500 more for Honda. Honda has 471cc parallel twin vs 400cc thumper, stellar reputation and reliability, great support network and fairly easy diy. With Noraly's mods, that RE is way above price of nicely equipped cbx. Which one would you pick?
But at 86 is it like Johnny I'm breaking up, or can you keep it pinned?
Nah I wouldn't keep it at those speeds. Around 75 mph the engine feels better.
Are you using the stock exhaust , or did you get any modifications ?
If modified , then what exhaust did you use in this video?
This is the stock exhaust and the bike is 100% stock. But this is the European model, maybe some things are different from the original model in India. At least the engine needs to be Euro4 compliant (has to have cleaner exhaust fumes and some other things the bike itself needs to be compliant to).
@@MotoSnax Thanks for replying
@@MotoSnax - Google "bharat stage IV", or just go to www.dieselnet.com/standards/in/ ,
and you'll see that Indian exhaust emissions standards are identical to those for Europe. If Itchy Boots'
experience with the Powertronic piggyback ECU is indicative, India's ECU might even be tuned for
lower emissions/lower performance than bikes meant for export - which may explain why her bike's
performance was so improved by the ECU mod.

Hoi, Motosnax.

I'm curious to know how you got such great sound. Wind doesn't seem to have affected it. I have the Ghost X and cannot hear the exhaust clearly. Could you please elaborate, @motosnax ? Thanks in advance.
External microphone. Next to that, sound was recorded via Ghost 4K. The X was only used for the speedometer shot (the battery states '4K' but that is just the battery). Use external microphone and you might want to add more volume post edit.
@@MotoSnax thank you. Where was the external mic placed - near the exhaust? I have the external mic and its inboard of the helmet chin bar, don't get this kind of sound yet.
@@swiftx1989 backpocket in my jacket. So yes, closer to the exhaust than in a helmet.

Nice. SOLD! Been looking for an alternative to a Triumph Tiger for rural Oregon. This might do the trick for around $5k USD.
Might do it. It is a bit slow though. But the upside is that you can enjoy the Oregon scenery even better. So many beautiful places in Oregon. Been there a couple years ago. Had friends living in Eugene, they now moved back to Florida though.
The church called and said you can't use their parking lot for top speed runs anymore!
Churches over here wished they had parking lots like that!
Can you still go 86mph with some baggage load? I imagine that would slow down the bike a bit.
you would have to ask ItchyBoots.
Is this the real exast ? Or you chenged it ?? Sound is awesome

@@mdzaid5925 You are not correct, do you ride a Himalayan?
@@johnokelly8166 No i dont own one, but in India it is quite famous and there are probably hundreds of reviews and all of them say the same.
@@mdzaid5925 I know they are made in India in fact since the mid 1950s, about 1955 they were sold to India complete with all parts and machines. However in answer to your question, the Himalayan is not like the old RE 300cc or 500cc Bullet. It is a totally different engine with a Crank Balancer fitted which dampens out the vibration's common in the RE 300cc & RE 500cc Bullet. The Himalayan is not perfect, there are still many very simple improvements at no real cost Royal Enfield could make to improve and enhance the reputation of the RE build quality! Having said that , the Himalayan is a good value motorcycle for the cost. I don't know if the Indian model differs much from the UK/European model in terms of quality. I am enjoying using my Himalayan in all different weather and I find it reliable. I like the Long Stroke engine as it will do what it is designed to do very well. If people want a high speed Sports Bike, then the RE Himalayan is not the bike to purchase. When I wan to ride at a higher speed I ride my Suzuki DL650 XT. Having said that I enjoy and ride the Himalayan much more!
@@johnokelly8166 Yes, I have heard that RE's sold in UK/US are of much better quality. In India the situation is not as good though. BS3 version was discontinued because it had several major issues. With Bs4 version, RE fixed those issues but now there are some new issues, though not as seviour as before
About right for a 24hp bike. I have a Hyosung GV250 cruiser that also has 24 hp and using the same GPS app it does 83 mph on a perfectly flat road with no wind. Of course the speedo is 10% off not 2%, but I just mount the Speedo App to my phone mount and Voila! A real speedometer. So, a Korean 250 V-twin and an Indian 400 thumper will run neck-and-neck on the highway.
The Himalayan 400 also does feel like a 250cc (torque).
Go with Royal Enfield intercepter. It may give max speed of 170 KMPH
A second cylinder and more hp always helps.
Bro but don't give the performance in offroad like himalayan
Mileage matters too
170 speed without tubeless tyre is suicidal
400cc for that performance in 2019...what a steal
Was creat and designed mainly for India, in india if you ride "fast" probably you will be at 80 km/h if you're lucky, tuff roads and if you go to the mountains the himalayan is a machine in terms of off-road if we compared with big dual bikes that bike have a excellent balance, easy to ride, light and strong
Huh, faster than I was expecting
Is the clutch leaver heavy or difficult to pull.. ?
Sorry can't remember but I'm sure it is not as light as on the more recent Kawasaki bikes.
I own a Himalayan bs4 .. bought a month ago .. but your exhaust sound is different compared to indian made
Maybe because of Euro4 or the mic does pick it up differenly than your mic. :)
Is that autobahn? if so, Could you try the 650 interceptor/gt??
No, this is an expressway with a speed limit, so there is always a risk of getting a ticket. I can go to the autobahn but that will take me about an hour to ride to. I hope to try the 650's this year so just keep an eye out on this channel.
For clarification, Autobahn is German for highway. This was filmed in Holland, on a piece of highway, not an 'expressway'. An expressway isn't a snelweg/highway. Holland, as most European countries except Germany, have speed limits on the highway. It used to be 120km/h in Holland (same as in Belgium) but I don't know if that has changed over the years.
@@JimmyRJump It depends on where you live. A highway can be a road between cities which can have intersections. This is more a freeway / expressway. The difference with a highway is that it has dividers, no intersections, it has access ramps etc. as my viewers are international the word 'expressway' or 'freeway' is a better term than 'highway'. A highway can be a road with a 50 mph / 80 km/h speed limit. The speed limit is 130km/h since a couple of years (not everywhere though). In the US a highway is a state route, an Interstate is like an expressway. So it all depends on where you live, but 'highway' would be the worst choice to pick.
@@MotoSnax Well, I saw a blue plate with a white 'H' on it that indicates an 'autosnelweg' (autostrade in Belgium) when you made a right turn across the bridge. Across your Southern border an expressway is kind of an inter-city road with a tracé that's more or less straight and very good asphalt. But Belgium has so many 'karresporen' that got upgraded over the years that we no longer know which is which :D
@@JimmyRJump it's now 130klm.on some roads .
So really our highway have 80/100/120/130 max speed
But is time set .
Means after 19:00 til 06:00 it's the max of 130klm and on the rest of the day 100kl.
what app are u using?
It is called Speedometer (for Android). It just reads the GPS chip and displays it.
More than the top speed it is the comfortable cruising speed that would be important to note. Comfortable not just for the rider but also for the engine, especially if one wants to ride long distance. I don't think RE made this bike to be a highway racer.
For the rider any speed is comfortable, for the engine I would say around 110 km/h or so.
MotoSnax I surely would like to try out the EU version sometime. The sweet spot for me on my BS4 is around 80-90kmph. But again, I didn't buy the bike for high speed performance, but for the comfortable ride it offers on rough roads.
It also offers comfortable rides on asphalt. :) I don't think the EU version is that much different except for the cleaner exhaust fumes.
Oh my. My little 200cc Suzuki Vanvan will do just under 130kph (indicated). With more street-oriented tires, it might catch the Enfield. Granted, that Himalayan is kind of a heavy bike for the CCs.
The Himalayan felt like a 250cc bike. It also has 32 Nm of torque, which could be better for a 411cc engine. Should be around 38-39 Nm or so. But the roads over here are near perfect, in Asia these bikes are good for the state of the roads over there.
That 200 CC Van van won't let you do 500kms a day on it while the Himalayan can do it, also we could do some off roading with it, but not as hardcore off-roading like the Van van.
@@MotoSnax True, the roads here are so bad in some areas, that it feels like off-roading 😂.

what about vibes? are they well contained?
It still has vibes. And those vibes don't do any good to the mirrors at higher speeds. But hey it is a single cylinder engine. They tend to vibrate a little bit more. Overall it is all ok, I have had worse.
Would be better if it had a 650cc engine .
I was not able to read the km made on this bike, could you tell us? Owning one, the bike has a series of improving steps during the first 5000km or so, so I think that could be interesting.
It had not much on it. I don't think it would improve over time as at top speed it is almost touching the rev limiter.
@@MotoSnax yep, vibrations and the progression still improve though. Thanks for the reply!😉
More vibrations? :)
Is that even possible?!?😝 Joking, coming from a bullet the hima felt like a Japan made to me😅
Which exhaust you are using?
Stock exhaust, perhaps for Europe it is another exhaust than the one they use in India.
Interesting video.
I wonder, would changing the sprockets to increase the gear ratio, therefore improving the speed, or is the bike at it's top speed anyway because of available power and air drag?
It might improve top speed but it would pull less. But right now with this ratio it is almost hitting the rev limiter.
I changed the gearbox sprocket from the stock 15 tooth to a 16 tooth. I don't know if it increases the top speed, but it makes the highway cruising more relaxed and doesn't seem to effect the first and second gear grunt off road. A good tradeoff I think.
This is what I was thinking, that though changing a sprocket might not be able to significantly increase top speed, it may give a bit lower rpm at motorway speeds.
Allowing the engine to run a bit more relaxed, rather than close to the rev limiter.
Cheers, thanks for the response.
Redlining a single s never a wisw thing to do.16 from 15 front is excellent choise for engine life and overall street trvelling. Also keeps engine cooler.Factories always short gear motorcycles in favour of performance, but as everyday uses and long time owners we care also for reliability and engine life

95 kg without gear on. So probably at least 100 kgs. I had wind in my back, that also helps a lot.
@@MotoSnax That helps. Your upshifts and downshifts are precise.
Thanks :)
What is the you top speed you got in this video
Did you read what I typed at 2:18 ?
@@MotoSnax And @ 3:01 135kph so 83 mph with wind at your back.
1:30 I didnt know they had full size gmc vans in europe.
Well these are imported. I don't think there are many in my country. American cars sure like to drink a lot of fuel and fuel prices over here are soaring compared to the US.
Will running in top speed harm the engine ?
Not if you do it shortly. I wouldn't do this for like half an hour. That is not good for any engine.
What RPM is at 90km/h ????
Not sure probably around 4000-4500 or so.
Is a bike for the off road, that's it! Is many 250- 390 cc and cheaper bike than this, have top speed 135 km/h or more
Well, offroad or urban roads. Highway is possible but not built for that.
@@MotoSnax Correct. Interceptor is bike for highway, and city.. motorcycle is diffrent some for high speed, highway, tout, cafe racer, off road..is what u need...
I will try that Interceptor soon. See what that can do.
@@MotoSnax good, is a easy bike, smud,a roadster classic, I could like u try Royal Enfield GT650, cafe racer too see how he is,?
I hope to try the 650's somewhere this year.
