I checked in 24 hours before my flight, so that I can have more time to walk the entire Changi Airport transit area and to enjoy the lounge facilities.

As you mentioned, Terminal 4 is not accessible via SkyTrain, so one must take the bus. Also worth noting, the SkyTrains shut down from 02:30 to 05:00 daily, so during those hours, the bus(ses?) circle the Terminals from 1 to 4. And, finally, no. DON'T try to walk from T1, 2, or 3 to 4! It's a LONG way!

If my plane landed on T4, can I go around the T4 transit area and other terminal transit areas before immigration? Is it allowed to check out from a different terminal beside the landed terminal?
You should be able to clear immigration at any of the terminals. But if you have check-in luggage, it will be unloaded at T4, after immigration.
Will we need a visa to transit from T3 to T4?
You do not need visa to transit from T3 to T4.
There is an internal shuttle bus that you can take from T1-2-3 to T4
