Hi, I'm Frank Haynes' wife, and I wonder if you can help me discern if the above recording was actually done at Half-note (the first three including Days of Wine and Roses, and if the clean recording of Days of Wine and Roses, later done, was one andthe same recording--which WBAI used to play. Frank Haynes appeared at half note using Walter Bishop, Eddie Khan and Dick Berk, the latter two also worked with Frank Haynesr at San Francisco. So when the album came out, cleaned, and attributed album to Walter Bishop, I'm a little confused as to if there were two seperate recordings were don, or if one. I say this as I recorded same on my old columbia recording. If you can clarify this, I'd most appreciate it. Thanks, Shaw Lee Haynes
Hey Shirley, I'm currently looking into getting a copy of that version of the song. Fingers crossed this guy can help me out with it. If I find anything I'll let you know
Thanks for this. I have the good fortune to have worked a few gigs with Bish between 78 to 86 in New York , and recorded him for one of my records. He is the real deal and cats like Bish , a Bud Powell influenced player , its just more real swing than lots of cats younger . Bish could play funky like Hancock too when he played on funk. I miss him a lot .

I was fortunate to see Walter Davis jr, for the first time live as part of “Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers” in 1959! This hard-bop quintet changed my (Jazz) life. Walter had just replaced Bobby Timmons. But what a gig, bloody unbelievable! Sound is a bit wonky but what an great album. Dig some jazz history folks, G’day & Cheers!
Must have been amazing to see all these legends playing in front of you. I only wish I had a similar opportunity. Thank you for sharing though its always awesome to hear stories from people

@@ronaldunkel2681 Without a doubt it was one of the most exciting times to be a jazz fan. Still going strong too on your end eh? But keep a look out on the channel, I've got some more albums going up and once I've got the conversion done there's another Walter Bishop Jr. album I want to share with you
Let me know if you have any requests for albums you can't easily find or get. I will see what I can do to obtain them and then share it here

Where can I listen to the record you both worked on? Really cool of you to share your story. Mr. Bishop has hugely influenced my playing.
