Yuheeeng it was for a excuse to go kill Carlos Reyes if i remember
@@username34769 The U.S. government wanted an excuse to crack down on cartels because the CIA suspected them of helping to smuggle terrorists across the border. Their idea to get the job done was to initiate a cartel war by executing two simultaneous false flag operations, which would weaken both organizations and give the U.S. a reason to have a heavier presence in Mexico. However, they got screwed over by the Federales they hired to back them up and it turns out they had bad intelligence on the cartel involvement with terrorism. So now they have to disavow any official involvement by the U.S. or Mexico is going to be pissed.
@Anonymous Taking down terrorist organizations isn't as easy as they make it look like on TV and the movies. And most of the time they operate outside of U.S. borders. But if cartels, who have proven time and again how easy they can smuggle people, product and weapons across the border, are working with terrorists, then cartels are not just a law enforcement concern, but a national security concern. However, the U.S. won't make much headway in taking them down without cooperation from the Mexican government. Hence the false flag operations, meant to not only weaken their targets by kicking off a drug war, but also to give Mexico a reason to accept aide from the U.S. due to escalating cartel violence.
Just like wildlands
How is it brilliant? It accomplishes nothing. This is something that kinda puzzled me, because the movie acts as though cartels in México aren't already at war with each other.

The attention to detail is epic. The military advisor for this film should get more work in other films. For example, at 1:15 you can see Alejandro with the zip cuffs over his shoulder, this is the real way that operators deploy zipcuffs, as you can just grasp someones hand and pull the cuffs straight over your hand, onto their wrist, and tighten.

the parts between the action and shock are actually awesome as they truly depict her guts as a daughter of someone very powerful and gritty; she shows what kind of blood runs in her. another whimpy girl would be squirming or shouting until knocked out, she played very well - also still shocked and on the verge of hysteria, she performed a tough girl used to conflict and stress from her childhood. her entry scene actually sets her character up pretty well, and she follows that image very closely.

I like this movie scene simply because it's Plan - Execute - Consequences. They don't do silly/random inconveniences that some movies do like "Omg! car suddenly won't start! Lets take one from a random civ" or "somehow they tailed us to our hideout" or "Nooo, dad decided to pick up his kid himself today so security is suddenly tighter". The plan and execution honors the title of the people carrying it out.
Did it? Didn't they cancel the plan before they finished or something like that?
@@ColAlbSmi You're right, but you're referring to the political agenda that required getting the girl. I was just talking about the plan to simply get the girl and make it look like a rival cartel did it.
@@marozid1 I rarely like these high-tension movies, but I found myself watching both Sicario movies. I actually now realize why I did pay attention thanks to you pointing out this detail. When they execute, the plan works. Yeah there are screw-ups, but it's not like the silly details you pointed out. Appreciate that!
@@Blueoriontiger Movies often deliberately create bad screw-ups for the plot, but in this movie it's realized that you don't have to manufacture a plot to make it good. They (likely) chose to go with what would most likely happen in reality and used advisors to get it right. I for one am VERY glad they went with a script that didn't include some bullshit "oh they heightened security because of blah blah," because it just ruins the rest of the movie. The two Sicario movies are two of the very few action movies I can actually enjoy watching.

I really like how the delta operators pre planned the situation by causing the explosion, knowing that the van will retreat, right into the middle of the intersection where the sweep away van backs in. SICARIO was one of the greatest movies i've ever witnessed in my life, "an edge-of-your-seat thriller" It is hard beyond measure, savage beyond what savage is normally taken to mean. Sicario, we're told, means Hitman.
