Forrest, I love the way you self disclose your ‘faults’, ‘weaknesses’ & shortcomings - because I love you’re courageous expression of truth, daring to be vulnerable, but also you mirror and bring out the same weaknesses in me - and I learn more compassion. Thanks man. 🙏🏻🇦🇺 PS excellent questions, always.

Interesting bit about the balance of power in a relationship. Having spent a fair bit of time in "blue bubbles" such as the bay area, which I presume this podcast is filmed, I noticed many relationships consisting of a castrated, effeminate male paired with a powerful masculine female... the derogatory term used amongst my friend circle to describe the castrati (embraced and beloved especially with the females) was SNAG- sensitive new age guy. Perhaps the origin of the SNAG has its roots in woke ideology, the belief that impulses towards strength amongst men are manifestations of tyrannical patriarchal power drives... I noticed many women in these blue bubbles were frustrated that their male partners manifested the behaviors of a domesticated housecat, whining in a corner and clutching a crystal, constantly wanting to process their emotions, etc.
I've watched some of your videos, Forrest, it's real good stuff. I'm not sure if it peaks your interest or your expertise, but I for one would be interested in someone tackling the problem of masculine/feminine polarity from a psychological perspective. This of course is not confined to heterosexual couples; it seems same sex couples have a better handle on this dynamic.

Although this was a *profound and monumentally useful discussion* it would be beneficial to hear you both discuss power and the abuse of power in both a passive aggressive way and an aggressive way in more depth. When someone misuses their power through passive aggressive tactics such as stonewalling or transient regular abandonment, or when someone holds the finances hostage from the other, or one someone presents one personality in public and treats their partner differently in private, these passive aggressive uses of power including the use of gaslighting or making someone feel like their memory is unstable are all the foundation of abuse as Liz said. Having a subsequent conversation in which specific instances about passive aggressive and or aggressive abuses of power would be extraordinarily helpful for people trying to figure out whether their person is in fact taking advantage of them through subtle or overt domination in a passive aggressive or aggressive way.

So happy to see a fellow LMFT in this discussion. It flowed really well. I did feel like in the discussion about our partners energy, it may have been helpful to acknowledge other models as well like what part is triggered by the energy? Or am I seeing this as an attachment threat? Sometimes it can be less sinister than entitlement or irritation.

Covid magnified the problem for many couples. How so? That love was not really there from the very beginning. Covid took off the mask to the situation! Many women ended up marrying men not for love but for social security. We are talking about young ladies in their 20's and early 30's. Many and many men found out that they were really not valued or loved by their ladies during this time (during the Pandemic). June 10, 2024. USA

Is it possible to have a successful relationship if one or both parties have excessive need to be alone?
