LOL..yeah a while back I did try a project where I intentionally cracked the wood...it was harder to do than I expected! Black seems to always go well with oak.
Yes! I have the file all setup in Vectric VCarve available on my site. Just make sure you have at least the version number I list (or higher). VCarve can carve single STL models identically to Aspire.
@@CorbinDunn awesome. I’m going to see if I can hunt a piece of wood to make this. I’ve used VCarve with the molding toolpath in different ways to replicate a 3D carve - which I guess would be very similar this method (I’m guessing). Thanks!
@@SJSSawdust Yeah it is a bit different, but I'm sure you won't have any trouble. The hardest part of carving 3d models with VCarve (and Aspire) is insuring your bit and holder do not have collisions, and I talk about bit heights in the document for how to carve it. But overall, it's just two basic toolpaths: a 3D roughing and a 3D finishing. I figure out appropriate minimum bit heights by doing simulations in Fusion 360.
That's a awesome project to recover ..... Keep it up brother...
The black is always nice and classy.
Looks great, you learn the most when you don't give up. Love your work.
That is definitely true, I learned a lot! One thing I need to figure out is how to use power tools to better sand weird shapes like this.
Interesting fixture setups, the end result looks great
Yeah, the fixtures really help get it spot on aligned for the second machining operation.
Fantastic work! I can't wait to get my woodworking skills up! You are an inspiration.
Yeah! Just do a little bit each day on something..and eventually you can learn anything!
@@CorbinDunn agreed!
I also dig the more natural waves of epoxy that resulted from the initial wood break. Maybe slam all of your pieces on the floor first. ;-)

Incrivel meu amigo 👏👏
Thanks!
Very cool file. This can be made with vcarve desktop ? I don’t need Aspire?

Thanks! I'm glad I did follow through with it.
