  • In this quick guide I will show you how to test your Milwaukee M12 battery. The test is carried out without any dismantling or any special tools. All you need is a voltmeter set from 0 to 20v, the one I use is the Venlab VM-600A digital multimeter but any will suffice. The m12 battery shown in this video is a knockoff however the guide is the same for any m12 battery whatever the manufacturer or whatever the AH. The battery being tested is being checked fir overall voltage as well as individual cell voltage. The usual voltage of a M12 battery is between 10.5v and 12.6v approximately.
So the individual cells in this case will be a third of that, This test will let you know if it has a bad cell without dismantling
the pack. The small m12 like the one shown on the guide have 3 of 18650 cells the larger m12 typically will have 6 of the 18650 cells internally. The larger 21700 lithium-ion cells do not feature in this battery line. This guide will tell you if your battery voltage is too low if one of your cells is bad and which one it is all without opening the battery.
If you want to know how to test a Milwaukee m12 battery with a multimeter here is how.

The fact that you use ground first makes me trust you even more.

I tested voltage all the way there. I have built and repaired quite a number of batteries. I get alot of comments that are completely wrong based on what little I know. Are you speaking from experience/knowledge ? If you are I will listen and try to understand what you are getting at.

@doctorlefthandthread I thought your supposed to go to ground first when testing?
