This group is Legendary, has stood the test of time. Not one could have been a Temptation had they not been outstanding singers. If anyone else sound just like the Classic five, it would be CREEPY. GOD gives gifts and talents to all..HE makes no duplicates as we all know.
Profiles in Pittsburgh I'm so thrilled to see this great group of Temptations on stage here performance and their dress code is awesome thank you for the song Just My Imagination. Happy Blessed birthday Otis Williams Nora Parker one of your greatest fans of all times because your temptation group will always be number 1. Hallelujah amen
Louis Price’s vocals reminded me of a Contour mixed with Al Green, nothinig close to Ruffin. I saw this pairing of these fellas live many times in concert. They were very good, stylish and fluid, however, Otis sort of looked dejected and it showed. I’m guessing that was right after Dennis’s and Damon’s departures. Richard handed an impossible task to cover Paul and Ruffin’s leads.
Absolutely brilliant vocals from the NUMBER ONE VOCAL GROUP OF ALL TIMES, THE TEMPTATIONS had the full package, Jack of all trades when it comes to singing with the soul from deep inside and bring full of love with feelings , many more great vocals group like THE IMPRESSIONS, THE DELLS ,THE FOUR TOPS, SMOKEY ROBINSON AND THE MIRACLES but THE TEMPTATIONS is the champions THE BLACKSTONES
Cavin Heath: You have a lot of nerve talking about this line-up and saying that it’s a trash line-up. Everyone in this line-up can sing, including Otis. Where is your group? Can you sing? Everybody that sing shouldn’t be compared to someone who sang the same song before them. All of these men have unique voices, especially Louis Price. I love his singing . He has a four octave range. His voice is awesome. At least it is to me. I hear he performs quite a bit in Santa Monica. I’m planning on going to Santa Monica just to see him in Concert. That’s how much I love to hear him sing. Please stop saying that they’re a trash line-up because you couldn’t be further from the truth!!
Linda Yancey I’ve been a big fan of Louis since I saw this concert years ago. Some people just like to troll and talk stuff with no benefit of knowledge.
@@danhanson1032 Would technically the lead singers be David Dennis Woodson and price the secondary be Eddie Harris Leonard Tyson then 3rd be Richard and Paul
What was the reason for Melvin standing off to the side during this era? I seen some say it was because of his injuries sustained from being shot, and so he had a less strenuous choreography than everybody else...but he looks to be doing all the steps rather well to me.
Melvin’s health problems were already present since 1966. He developed rheumatoid arthritis in his knees, and he took cortisone shots to keep performing. He got shot in the hand and leg in 1978 trying to stop a man from stealing his car. He developed diabetes in the 80’s and other problems. In the 90’s,his health got so worse to the point he needed oxygen tanks backstage and he became wheelchair bound in 1994. He had several seizures, and went into a coma and died on February 23rd,1995. This left Otis as the last original founding member of the group.
I agree! I think Louis is a little underrated as a Temptation. He had a clearly definable voice that wasn't trying to imitate David, Dennis, or Paul! :)

Glen was an awesome tenor. I believe he left the group because during the reunion with Eddie and David, Eddie had destroyed his voice from smoking and still got to sing the falsetto parts and Glen was left with nothing to do. A shame!!
+bassistdc...........But Otis did let Eddi go, when he realized that Eddi could no longer sing his songs. Because he was not able to reach the high notes in falsetto anymore. And it was lung cancer that destroyed Eddi's voice. He did not do the chemo when he was first diagnosed with lung cancer. He did however (AFTER AWHILE) took out the lung to get rid of the cancer, but it came back in the other lung............ And we all know that he died from it, right!
Actually eddie was mostly forced to pass on his parts during the tour because he couldnt sing them anymore, though he did have a few spots on the reunion album. And Glen and Dennis started causing problems in the group so he was released and replaced by ron tyson.
Glen was fine but his falsetto never fit their classic songs. Obviously Eddie started, Damon despite able to be a chord higher at times, matched it really well, then Ron extremely smooth falsetto makes it pretty great listening. Louis Price was just completely out of place
@@JAYKNO60 i disagree with you on Ron although i respect your opinion Glenn is far better the best tenor over ron when it comes to singing there classics to me ron sounds like a high horn and sometimes can be annoying.
i can never except anyone but David Ruffin singing My girl~~i don't know who decided Richard street TO do it! Richard can sing but smokey wrote that song for Ruffins sound PERIOD!!
Louis isn't exactly a paint by numbers kind of singer. And I'm sure Otis knew that when he was hired and through all the shows they had done previously. A singer like that is great to work with because he keeps everything fresh. Especially after singing Just My Imagination for the 30th time.
Louis Price's voice was no way near David Ruffin or Dennis Edwards. I cringe hearing him sing any of their songs. I don't know what Otis was thinking when he had him replace Dennis. I guess that is why their Atlantic stay was a disaster and they went back to Motown and brought back Dennis and had a good line-up once again. Louis might be a really nice guy and I don't wish him any evil but his voice was just not in the tradition of David and Dennis and then later Ali-Ollie.
I've met Louis Price on occasion and he's a very nice person. I've said before, Louis is not a good singer, he's a great singer but in my humble opinion his voice did not fit the Temptations at all. I remember when he joined the group Melvin said in an interview with SOUL magazine, "The Tempts are going in a new direction and we're very pleased with the young man!"

Jessejames1956, thank you so much for sharing this! The Atlantic years don't get as much attention and Louis Price gets so much hate! You rock!

can you please post the rest of this concert?
Louis Price replaced Dennis Edwards as lead singer. He should have sung My Girl.

I’ve seen video of him years after this where his position is different. I don’t think it had anything to do with his shot related injury.
