      @@pkonkir The idea is that increased oxygen level in inhaled air could eventually increase the oxygen level in your blood (however little, it may still make a difference in an edge case), similarly to how those nasal O2 "sprinklers", used as breathing assist.
      Also, if there's a respirator already with an O2 port, then you'll need an O2 source to feed it. And concentrators may just fit the bill there.
      Haven't verified any of this yet tho. I'm just in the sate of "1st-minute Apollo13 alertness" (2nd best thing to just panic :) ), actual (also Apollo13-is socks & plastic bags type...) R&D is yet to be done. And your buyers were most likely at the same stage, too. :)

    Less complicated & less expensive parts than in a window air conditioner (only a small 20.5psi compressor). The Zeolite in the canisters has gotten a lot cheaper over the past decade. So why are these units still selling for $2,500-$6,500 in the USA, while they're only $250-$500 in the rest of the world? Is the USA health care system price-gouging?

      There are high volume, low pressure systems out there, which consist of a holding tank, a compressor, a bunch of concentrators and a relay box that shifts the cons on, when the pressure in the tank gets too low.
      They can be DIY'd though I'd reccommend taking a look into HVO (High Volume O2) - www.highvolumeoxygen.com

    What do these machines do if they're left to run in a confined space? assuming that they detect that they have markedly reduced supply of oxygen to concentrate, and excess concentration of nitrogen as well? Do they alarm if this happens, or keep cycling the nitrogen in and out even after the availability of oxygen is gone? Thank you.

    • @PSKResearch
      @PSKResearch 6 років тому +3

      These machines put out 750ml to 5 liters per minute. There's 28 liters per cubic feet. There's 800 cubic feet in a small 10x10 8 foot tall room, or about 22,000 liters. 4,500 liters of that is oxygen. It would take 900 minutes (about 15 hours) to use up the O2 if the room was totally air tight with a 5L per minute machine. You shouldn't be locking yourself in a 10x10 airtight room if you have breathing problems anyway. However if you must, they come with long hoses, so just run the hose to the room, & keep the machine in another room.

    • @flyingsodwai1382
      @flyingsodwai1382 6 років тому

      The machine doesn't use o2. it separates it and vents both the o2 via the canula and the nitrogen via the exhaust back into the room where they recombine. You could run the concentrator in a sealed room forever and not change the o2 level of the room. Its interesting though to think of this. If you had a room where there was a serious chance of combustion you could seal it, run the concentrator in it, and have the o2 hose port into another room. No o2 no combustion problem solved. Maybe not very efficient but could work, especially for long term situations.

    • @josepeixoto3384
      @josepeixoto3384 5 років тому

      @@flyingsodwai1382 Correction: You could "run it forever" *IF* no person was breathing in the O2,which is not the case.
      Interesting the idea of filling a room with nitrogen for fire-proofing (no O2),but i guess rooms are difficult to completely seal off.

      Hello Janice. The white powder is most likely a seal leaking in side the sieve beds, allowing fine particles of material to escape out of the exhaust of the concentrator. You can purchase a set of sieve beds and install them your self. This will stop the white powder from coming out of your unit.
      If the unit "sounds bad" ,,, The compressor might need to be rebuilt. I would have to listen to it in order to be certain.

      The Zeolite in these traps the nitrogen from the air under pressure of 20.5psi, but allows the O2 to pass through. There are only trace amounts of hydrogen in the atmosphere. Your easiest source of hydrogen would be through the electrolysis of water (H20).

    • @flyingsodwai1382
      @flyingsodwai1382 6 років тому +1

      Also where would you get hydrogen to concentrate? in our air there's only 500 PPB. That's B for billion. That translates to .00005%. It'd take (and i am guessing) decades to filter out enough to be usable.

    What's the deference between concentrator and generator

    • @Anthonypython
      @Anthonypython 7 років тому

      Basically when you concentrate, it means to shift the element like from gas form to liquid with condensation to make a stronger/larger percentage in a area of it in one mass.
      you can't actually make elements by concentrating it/Generate. So it doesn't actually "make" that element it just releases it from its current state. So really only something like the LHC actually Make things/Generate more elements. So while you can Generate electricity you can't Generate more gold. but you can concentrate more of it together in a larger mass from smaller bits.
