    Hi, very cool vid. Was it customly made so that the stroke would steer? Usually it's the bow- no?

      Most boats can change the position which has the foot steering plate, which can be tedious to change, usually its bowman but not in this case

      All Racing Boats i have seen were steered from the Stroke.
      Bow steering is more of a Gig Boat thing

      In straight lane racing it is always stroke steered. In this case they probably weren't bothered to change it to bow steering.

      @@henryC-03 not true. I recently competed in dorney for junior sculling regatta and people who I know competing in national sculling regatta are also having now steered quads. So it all depends on the club/coach or the people in the boat and their preferences

    Is activating the steering when you're taking the stroke and then realigning it on the recovery the most efficient way to steer?

    • @askiff1415
      @askiff1415 Рік тому +14

      The rule is you only use rudder or steer when the blades are in the water because it won’t upset the balance in that part of the stroke cycle. Never use the rudder during the recovery or when the blades are out of the water otherwise the boat tips and make the recovery and next stroke far from optimal slowing the boat and giving the opposition advantages

      @@askiff1415 Fine in theory, but how do you turn your foot whilst you're pushing on the drive?
