    This has been a fascinating find - I'm quite new to Djembe, bought a fully synthetic Mienl a couple of months ago when I joined a drum circle. In the lockdown I've had to improvise at home (and I have close neighbours so sound is an issue) so found plenty of stuff on UA-cam to tap along to - mainly deep jazzy house. I also have a little foot tambourine which is just essential for pulsing out the groove and have already discovered many of the great sounds to be made on a djembe - although my playing is avery long way off this standard! It's given me massive hope. The djembe is indeed king of drums and suitable for all types of music. Thank you so much for posting.

    Just bought a Meinl Headliner Djembe for my birthday. Gonna use for rythms in songwriting. This is by far the most versatile usage of the drum I've seen. Awesome video Chief Shaman Green Man.

    I play guitar and violin. I just got one of these drums yesterday and I think it's amazing how it's only one drum that makes so many different tones.

    Ankle bells would work just as well as a tambourine. Great job on the djembe. I really like this solo.

      David D I know the bass is what makes a djembe special to hold the bottom. Bass hit on djembe is flat hand,, conga is cupped hand or heel of palm. Different techniques. Need to left djembe for solid deep bass.

    Djembe sounds great. I think the tambourine was too loud for its auxiliary role in the video. I would recommend that you use something softer such as the LP188 foot tambourine to just mark the beat. By the way, you've got an amazing groove.

  • @cagreninger
    @cagreninger 10 років тому +2

    WHATS THE DIFF BETWEEN A KEY TUNED DJEMBE AND A CONGA?......LOVE THE FOOT TAMB...ME TOO.......MOSTLY IT DOESNT HAVE TO LOW RUMBLE BASS THAT MY DJMEBE(FROM GUINEA) HAS.....

    • @Rammstein0002
      @Rammstein0002 10 років тому

      The size and the shape of the instrument are different.
      A djembe is made to be hold between your legs and therefore is smaller and has a thiner part on its base. A conga is made to be played while standing up, it's bigger and more... ovoid.
      Hope this helped.

    • @corneliuslow
      @corneliuslow 10 років тому +1

      Sorry and no offence, but Suedama made some wrong points. Just search "djembe and conga", and click on a video by a channel called "Howcast". They explain the differences better.

    Yes you are amazing but I don't see how this is in any way a Djembe Lesson as it says in your description. How could a beginning djembe player learn how to play this just by watching you jam out?
