Coraline did go back to her own world, and you can tell this by one big feature: buttons. Every single living thing in the Other Mother's world has button eyes since those are markers of her control over whatever has them. Because Coraline goes back to a world with no button eyes on anyone, that means she did return to her world after going to sleep and did escape the Other Mother by the end of the movie.
Adding onto this, I've seen theories that the cat is actually a different being than anything we know of. It can clearly traverse through worlds and can talk, which is odd. Plus, it immediately knew the mice in the other world were an illusion and tracked them down. Neither the other mother or anyone in the real world other than Coraline, that I'm aware of, never sees the cat or acknowledges it. Seems like it's possibly from another world entirely. One could assume this is just because it's "a kid's movie" (doubtful) and "every hero has an animal friend or sidekick" but I like to think the cat is from a different world.
I think she did, mainly because of the grandmother making an appearance at the end. The other mother mad copies of everyone in the house and the realm of influence was only the house. The grandmother in her old age Coraline never meet until the very end.
@@CountessRose yeah but look at the top comments, it's a row of hearts all the way down for nearly 70 comments but this one is purposefully missed out on

She won and she is free though. The other mother created what she though it would impress Coraline. In the scene where Coraline and the cat were walking she said that it was supposed to be a well there, it wasn't. Also, how would the om (other mother) be there if she was in her world, the door was locked and her hand was thrown in the well?? She wouldn't let Coraline and Wybie just throw her hand. Going out of the portal it's pretty logical and I personally thought (the 1st time I watched it) that she will go to her home this way. Probably has 2 or more ways to get out. Moreover, Wybie's grandma appeared in the end ready to hear what Coraline has to say and she knew something was off because it happened with her twin sister. There's a lot that can show that Coraline got back to the real world but there's a lot of theories too. Just my opinion here↑.

Actually the reason why the mother says “you were right coralline I really hate dirt”is because coralline mentions that the rain is the perfect time to garden
You forgot to mention how the other mother could only replicate the house and a bit of the outside world, yet at the end of the movie you see Coraline going far beyond what she could replicate just fine
@@alessandro10127and yet she didn’t. She only created what she wanted Coraline to see. that’s not the case in the end, leavening one to conclude that she did escape.
@@alessandro10127This is like my fav theory so far. I was actually so intrigued lol. Now I think about it, thinking when Coraline found the doll for the parents and how she saw her parents trapped in the mirror. That was definitely an illusion to lure Coraline back into the web.
I also think the other mother had control of that exit as well. For the first two nights, Coraline was able to make it back to her world, but you’ll notice that as the other mother and father panned out of the scene, the other mother sat wherever the doll was in the old world. That’s how she “spied” on Coraline. And, on the third night, when the other mother told her about sewing buttons on her eyes, Coraline said that she wanted to go to bed right away. The other mother knew what was up, and she didn’t want to let Coraline go, so she may have fallen asleep, but she woke up still in the other world.
idk the fact that they went to the store when she came back kinda shows it was her real world . i don’t think the bedlam has enough power to create alternate realities considering she didn’t consume coralines soul yet. i also feel like the grandma at the end definitely made me more confident that she truly was home. the only thing i rly don’t understand is how chill the parents were coming back from the snow globe…it’s not like they drove there. it doesn’t make any sense to me. but idk i think she did go back to her reality. also: it was daytime and the cat can transfer anytime he wants anywhere
She keeps going deeper Into the trap because when she wakes up she’s back in her world so she keeps going deeper and deeper so that she thinks she’s in her world but is now stuck in the other one forever Edit: I typed this before watching the video lol
She goes to a shop in the real world that is out of bounds of what the beldam can conjure inside her dimension. The beldam couldn't have posed as the real mother anymore because she was losing her control on her illusions and that's why she was SO desperate to catch coraline. As for the cat disappearing, idk. The cat could be just another powerful entity or smth.
Okay but you’re forgetting a crucial detail: the pocket reality has limits. VERY tight limits. She can’t even get to the old well in the pocket dimension. But after the first night, she goes SHOPPING with her mom. That’s just a bit farther than the well.😉
Exactly! The other mother was not able to make a world outside of those limits. AND she couldn’t make ppl WITHOUT button eyes for it how they were able to see. When the cat removes the other mothers eyes she hold them as if she can’t see. Also the other world IF YOU READ THE BOOK 🤦🏽♀️ has different entrances [portals if you will]throughout the real world that the mother can use to spy on coraline. The cat with his far superior senses can sense and use the entrances to jump between world. He “comes and goes as [he] pleases” 😊
Freaking cried first time i watched it, when I was younger- never really liked that movie, probably never will, but honestly, that's just sad- Edit: why does this have 227 likes, why-
"Coraline doesnt even go through the portal back to her own reality. She just simply goes to sleep." A few seconds later "And when she does go back through the portal..." Uh, might wanna rethink this. You cant have it both ways.
For me, the graphic novel actually freaked me out when I first read it. Plus the illustrations are on the realistic side, so it makes it more creepy. The dad in the movie was tame, in the gn, no, no and no. If they made that version, nightmares.
I picked up a dead bird in my yard about a week ago with a shovel and when the corpse moved it instantly reminded me of Claymation and stop motion. I think it's an uncanny valley type of thing to make us avoid disease from dead creatures.
Coraline never really enters the other world until the third time. Its the only time shes actually awake she even says sth like "I knew it was real" clearly hinting that the visits before have been some sort of dream. What further proofs this is that the other mother doesnt let Coraline escape as soon as she really enters also Coraline tried sleeping through it just like in her dreams but cause shes not sleeping it doesnt work.... Like folks come on theories are fun and all but this one just seems bulletproof.
I always thought it was because they finished moving in, coraline had been acting more mature, and in some way they remembered what happened with the snow globe without actually remembering just knew she helped them.
@@abigailsheffieldasYes! But I think it's a little odd someone would just sleep in a random Person house I believe it was curiosity but who knows maybe in the next movie....
Her parents just seemed happier in the end. It really was a happy ending unless it was too good to be true. It was already disturbing as a kids movie so either were like “let’s give it a happy ending” or “let’s double down and make the ending ambiguous and trap coralline in an alternate universe” which one seems more likely?
I think she never escaped to, cause when the mom said: "you're right coraline, I really hate dirt" cause coraline told the other mother that her real mom hated dirt, and she said we love dirt here!, plus bobinsky and the other two were calling her by her right name
Bro this got me traumatized with anxiety just from the movie and that theory where she could be in a loop reality so now I can barely go under water cause I think I’ll take me to a slightly different reality this movie got all us messed ip
I HAD TO WRITE THIS TWICE ONG anyways, i feel like there are many problems with this statement, when Coraline first came into the portal and back to her bed the next morning, she went to a store with different people inside with her mom. This is important to know because during the events of Coraline trying to escape the boundaries of the Other World, the cat tells her "Walk around the world" meaning that the Other Mother only has what's big enough for Coraline to be lured in the most, like the spider's web for its prey, big enough to catch them "Small world". However, i do believe that the Other World exists but not how we think it might be. 1. A statement to use is from a Laika youtube short celebrating each movie in mother's day, and at the end it showed Coraline and her real mother until they are shown again with the Other Mother this time, remember this. 2. Another point to how Coraline did excape is when noticing how the real father has pizza stains on his shirt, considering maybe they went to a restaurant, however they could've fake the ordering & made it by themselves proving the existence of the Other World. If we're going with the first idea, it proves the fact that Coraline did make it out. 3. Continuing this scenario, the real mom gives her the gloves, which is shown also from the youtube short i mentioned earlier, using this information can help us know that this after the events of Coraline's "escape". 4. Putting this altogether, with this one would be after how the portal reverts back to how it would be if it was in the real world. The real mom mentions how they separated both buildings apart by replacing it with bricks. i have a speculation on where the Beldam creates the dolls which are just behind the small door. * Conclusions/Asummptions: Coraline might be stuck in both of the two worlds | Coraline will be haunted for her whole life | Coraline 2 might take place mostly in the real world where she might see the ghost of the Beldam | The Beldam can force hallucinations caused by the gas by the pipes in the boiler room, using props in the other side of the building creating a "wasn't real from the start" type of move. ( i can explain if u guys want to know ) LAIKA MOTHERS DAY VIDEO CELEBRATING WITH PARANORMAN, KUBO, AND CORALINE SHORT: ua-cam.com/video/SI8Rc5Y9_8c/v-deo.html Although, hey that's just a theory, a FiLm ThEoRy!

True

My theory is that the bed is a secondary exit but you can’t use the bed like the wormhole
There’s definitely a lot of clues Neil Gaiman planted in the book that she never left. That’s the beauty of the story, you can believe what you want.

Edit: I typed this before watching the video lol
When i hear creepy story im like fuc.k
She goes to a shop in the real world that is out of bounds of what the beldam can conjure inside her dimension. The beldam couldn't have posed as the real mother anymore because she was losing her control on her illusions and that's why she was SO desperate to catch coraline. As for the cat disappearing, idk. The cat could be just another powerful entity or smth.
Bro, you can’t believe everything you see on the internet.
THATS JUST A THEORY A FLIM THEORY got me dying💀
Also, the garden at the end is shaped like the Other Mother's face.
It’s also shaped like that at the beginning, when you first see Coraline

Coraline never really enters the other world until the third time. Its the only time shes actually awake she even says sth like "I knew it was real" clearly hinting that the visits before have been some sort of dream.
What further proofs this is that the other mother doesnt let Coraline escape as soon as she really enters also Coraline tried sleeping through it just like in her dreams but cause shes not sleeping it doesnt work.... Like folks come on theories are fun and all but this one just seems bulletproof.

Where to watch?
I HAD TO WRITE THIS TWICE ONG
anyways, i feel like there are many problems with this statement,
when Coraline first came into the portal and back to her bed the next morning, she went to a store with different people inside with her mom.
( i can explain if u guys want to know )
