Seems like the 4 best players in the world are Kakeru, Angry Bird, Mena and Punk. All from different regions and play different characters. They can all beat each other and clear the rest of the field handily (with some exceptions like Tokido and Big Bird). Great time for regional rivalries.

Someone counted and Kakeru did 32 perfect parries in this set. It's time to stop downplaying perfect parries just because of the damage scaling. When JP perfect parries you, that's not just your turn stolen, that's your ass getting sent to the opposite side of the screen or the corner. The level of corner carry and pressure in SF6 makes perfect parries terrifying.

He played the match up how you’re supposed to. Ken has to force offence vs J.P, the range where J.P can whiff punish with st.hp or interrupt with cr. mp is the range where Ken can dr/ dragon lash from. It’s also important to use dr vs J.P to dissuade them from going for ghosts in neutral. Kakeru adjusted appropriately and showed there’s many more layers to the match up, the only thing Angry bird could have changed is using run stop and od fireball a bit more to interrupt the rhythm on parries from Kakeru.

At the global level, the Birds are the best at the game. It’s Mena at 3rd and Kakeru takes 4th for winning at this level of competition. I forget who it was but someone tweeted that Japan doesn’t seem to have weeklys where pros grind but I’m guessing it is because normally those would be hosted at arcades and COVID-19 ruptured an old Japanese culture.
To surprise Daigo, literally the oldest dog learning new tricks, you have to be off of his radar. The Japanese players are basically developing counter tech using high level intl gameplay as the high water mark.
I remember the SFV days when Trashbox was #1 in ranked and there was all this mystery surrounding him. SF6 has already given us fgc fans a 4-D landscape compared to SFVs storylines.

Consistent Teshitsu Dantai(s)...look it up...from Akira players since VF3, 1996. Red Blocking, 3rd Strike. Just Frame moves and/or mechanics, take your pick, Dead or Alive, Soulcalibur, Tekken, Guilty Gear, The King of Fighters.
Street Fighter 6 was elevated by the win from Kakeru at Gamers8. Unlike Evo Vegas, everyone is legit reevaluating themselves and each other in this game. That's what it means to be a game changer.
