What a wonderful moment in history! I lived in Buffalo, NY when I started 2nd grade and bussing was just being started. Unfortunately, I was part of the community that wasn't going to be bussed into the wealthy schools, so my mom got me into a scholarship program at a Catholic school.

So I’m born and raised in Philadelphia. I’m 31 years old and white. I never went to school with not a single black person until high school. So to say it’s not still happening is insane.

Busing, quotas, and busing to meet race quotas were just about the worst things imaginable for racial integration. All it did was make both sides angrier, encouraged whites to move to the suburbs, and backfired horribly. NYC schools are just as segregated as ever, almost.
