  • I'm calling these the Best Video Lights for 2021. Specs in the description below. What you get for the price is amazing. These lights are BRIGHT! For 2021, I would recommend these for any video creator. If you are on a budget, go for the Aputure 100D/100X or 200D/200X, but I suggest dropping the coin and getting these that will last you for the next decade.

    Great review, thanks. Was thinking to get 3 aputure x lights, as I need for interviews in an area with unavoidable natural light spill, so thought being able to vary the colour temperature would be essential. You say you're going with 2x Ds, and 1xX - does this mean you're using only in an enclosed studio, and would you choose differently if using in other settings (maybe a 300x and 2 x 60x) to be able to get all of your lights aligned with any natural light spill? Thanks Kevin.

    Thank you so much for this review.
    Do you think that it should be a good solution as single light with a 1m octabox? Or the narrower angle of diffusion of the light would be a problem for it?

  • @russjam
    @russjam 3 роки тому +2

    Thanks for this. Two questions
    1) What light dome did you use? Do you think that the large aperture light dome would work with the 60x?
    2) I was thinking of getting the 200x but I'm hearing that this 60x is a better value. What are your thoughts. I'm a beginner UA-camr filming mostly indoors. Would the 60x suffice as a key light?

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  3 роки тому +2

      Hey there Russel! 1.) ANY done with a Bowen mount will work, which means almost any decent light dome out there. I’ll probably use the GVM light dome as shown in the video as it’s beautiful, and the Aputure light dome...mainly as those are what I have. Most likely will buy another light dome from GVM or Aputure that is the full light dome.

    We've used the absolute CRAP out of our Mini20s. The barn doors are falling off, the light stands are hanging by a thread.
    Love the really really really really really long cord. Manufacturers always seem to give us tiny rubbish cords!
    These look like a great upgrade. All the stuff we didn't like about the mini20s seem to be solved with these. Thanks for sharing Kevin!

    • @BasicFilmmaker

      Hey guys! Thanks for stopping by! Totally agree. These tiny rubbish short cords are a pain, and this allows me to place these anywhere in the studio. Yay! Yeah, I loved the Mini20s, but Aputure really listened and gave me all my wishes on this one. :)

    Great video, I just picked up the 60d and using it with the light dome mini 2 I seem to be getting a hotspot even on full flood, as opposed to the light filling the entire dome. Did you find this issue?

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  3 роки тому

      I don’t have the Mini2 dome, but this doesn’t make sense. Go here and see what they say. They are VERY active in answering questions. facebook.com/groups/AputureUsers/

    • @timg027
      @timg027 3 роки тому +6

      @@BasicFilmmaker Cheers, thanks for the reply. I managed to find the answer on the group. It's because the maximum beam angle is 45°, therefore the light doesn't fill the dome, instead it just shoots through the front diffusion material. The 120d the 300d have beam angles of 120° so they fill the entire dome with light, thereby utilizing the entire surface area of the dome creating a softer source. You learn something new every day🤷‍♂️

    If I had two 60D's would I have enough to light a green screen that it 9 feet by 7 feet? (I assume that the 60X would not be bright enough.) And thank you.

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  3 роки тому

      Haven’t tried it. Are you planning on lighting YOU and the greenscreen? Sometimes iffy. If only the green screen, it may be better to use the 60X’s as you can set them to green and save yourself a lot of time. For perfect green screen work, I always light it separately, and using bank lights always gives me the vest results.

    • @TomRiddle1
      @TomRiddle1 3 роки тому

      @@BasicFilmmaker Yes, only the green screen. I'm happy to go with the 60x's because I can use them for so many other things. My concern was that they wouldn't be bright enough, but if you tell me that two of them would give me an excellent green screen, I'll go with that.

    I'm thinking about buying this light or the 100d. I intend to use it to shine it on a wall or white blanket and let that huge source be my keylight. And sometimes shoot it through the inside diffusion of a 5 in 1 reflector.

    • @BasicFilmmaker

      The 60D IS bright enough as a keylight - VERY bright. Don't know why some are saying it's not. Sure, if your light is placed 20 feet away with multiple scrims and diffusion, you'll need a pretty powerful light.
