What a wonderful show. Mr Douglas had just as hard of a time, if not harder time accepting and adjusting to farm life as Mrs Douglas. She was absolutely perfect for the show.
Mr. Douglas never figured out that he was the strange one in Hooterville everyone else there was normal and Lisa fit right in perfectly with the towns people one of my favorite all-time TV shows
The fact he would farm in his suit for example. And they remark how he had one for everyday of the week. They even protested about it in one episode. When he finally gave in and wore overalls. They all decided they would all wear suits to farm because their wives loved them in them. LOL.
I always got a kick out of how Lisa, who hated the idea of moving to Hooterville so much, actually came to enjoy it. In fact, it got on her nerves a lot less than it got on Oliver's!
Now living in Europe and functioning more and more in a language other than English, I have new appreciation for Zsa Zsa Gabor and the character of Lisa.
Lisa tried but as she told Oliver, "you knew when you married me I couldn't cook, keep house or sew". Oliver told his secret in the episode where the English guy came to help out a for a few days. The guy couldn't get his fork thru one of her hot cakes. He said what do you do? Oliver said the Pixley diner. So while he was suppose to be out working the farm he would sneak to the dinner for at least one meal. But this is one of my favorite shows. I loved it as a child and I love it as an adult. ❤
The great mystery of Green Acres is how Oliver kept his weight on when nothing Lisa cooked was edible. There had to be some late night knocking on Mrs Ziffel’s back door for midnight snacks. I’m sure Arnold would have brought over a sandwich now and then except for his allergy to handling ham.
2:51 She says "That hurt!", but without even a slight bit of an offended expression. Lisa, you think that's hurtful what Oliver said to you? I'll tell you what's hurtful. If he called you a mean name. If he called me a mean name, I'd run away in tears!
Oliver and Lisa had a happy marriage for the entire time Green Acres was on TV, even though Lisa did her best to poison him. I never could figure out why Oliver insisted in dressing in a suit with a vest, like he's going to a wedding, when he was working on a farm. :/
This was even addressed in an episode. The other farmers I recall didn't like the fact he was waiting a suit and tie...and wanted him to wear overalls.
An old girlfriend of mine didn't know how to make cupcakes. She tried to put the paper around them after they were baked. She was afraid that the paper inside the oven would start a fire. But she was sure good at making spring music !
The detail is brilliant the filthy hand marks around the cupboard handles.

Oliver definitely made the show! His short remarks were incredibly timed and made me laugh so hard.
What the...?
Rip Eva.. no one else could be so cute, charming, and sophisticated at the same time
The most legitimately talented of the sisters, as far as I'm concerned. No "famous for being famous" schtick for her.

Oliver had the courage to face the Luftwaffe...but cupscakes...
One of my favorite sitcoms. This shit is hysterical.
The irony is, cake in a cup (or mug), is all the rage now!
And to think this was 1966.
This is one of my favorite shows ❤️
she always makes me laugh and smile
Jay Sommers...
best TV writer of all of time.

Lisa was played by Zsa Zsa's sister Eva
This show was so freaking funny!!!
Is it just me or does the music/soundtrack get in your head? A guitar and kazoo? Outstanding!
Fuzz pedal guitar.
The irony of this show is, lisa had a stand mixer on top of the refrigerator that probably never ever got used.

I'm guessing Oliver and Eb raided the chicken coop, picked corn and beans from the farm, and slaughtered a hog or two on the sly.
artistjoh The Pixley Diner
@@jazzmanchgo What did Lisa eat?
@@BrianBattles I don't remember what she ate, but her cooking was notoriously bad.
@@jazzmanchgo That's my point. How did any of them survive?
Shneaking out....lmao
Lisa tried so hard for Olivah.
Surprised Olivah didn't starve to death
Lol
Eddie Albert was handsome

@@SashGirl34 I'm thinking Oliver Douglas was previously an attorney. Attorneys don't wear overalls in the courtroom. Old habits are hard to break. ;)
Eva, the hottest of all the Gabor sisters......
Will , she is trying . Does she eat her own cooking. ?
Cindy Rogers, well not will
Eva Gabor (1919-1995) even admitted to Marc Summers on Nick @ Nite that she herself couldn't cook 🧇. 😂 😎
So I wonder, did she have someone cook for her?
@@MsAussie83 I guess so. You & I would have to do some research on that. 😎

lol that's funny 😁
Aahleeever!
Lisa was a real woman but she was shneaky.
Girdle? Lisa, it's a "griddle", you funny bone!
I wonder where Oliver got his food? I can’t remember ever actually seeing him eat.
Lisa is hot!
He should have told her point blank that her food isn't eatable.
He has. Had other women try to teach her too. It didn’t help. Should have hired a cook.
Written by and for stoners. 😁
Them and their damn shneaking out.
