Luxury Snow Fort Camping (Igloo/Quinzhee)
Вставка

- Camping in the snow! Typical Quinzhee design, this one is a little bigger than usual because we had access to a quad to pile the snow. I hunkered down and camped for the night after some fireworks and many step 2's. It stays quite warm in there even with just body heat. This is technically a quinzhee and not an igloo, but many people don't know what a quinzhee is. I'll be out again to camp in this guy in a blizzard!

I'm not sure if I will have to re-upload this video, but it's been processing at 95% for several hours now and I'm sorry for the delay. I put this link up through my community page so it is watchable for right now, but the video isn't public yet for some reason. Hunker down everyone!
Had to check the "community" tab to find the post linking the video.
Glad I'm searching for your content!
Hunkering: bring - on - the - quinzie, lol. “Enough of this,” after 5 seconds of shovel.

What I like about Camping with Steve is , he's not in a hurry , and the joy of hunkering down with a beer and hot meal in solitude while Camping in a snow storm or thunder storm makes it even more fun . We all want to escape the rat race .

I built one of these stories when I was 13 with two friends in Labrador. What we did though Steve was pile our hollowed out snow on top put the hose on on it next night do it more and more. We spent a month until my friends dad freaked out at the size and had to check it out. It covered the front yard. His dad was tall and he was able to walk around in it. We had a support wall in the middle making two rooms.
Awesome visual!!!

This makes me think of college back in the year 2000. I had a Hot Pot, which tbey do not even make anymore. It was like the first iteration of a "rice cooker." It was my ramen cooker, which with a can of tuna was how I survived college. haha. Yes I had a meal plan , but I needed way more food for my big ass! lol. I look back on that very fondly. I remember the day it finally quit on me, I was actually very sad. However, a girlfriend next door happened to have a Hot Pot she never used and was in storage. I remember she drove me to her storage unit to get jt and I was so effin happy! lol Its 23 years later and I am still so grateful. Steve when life kicks me in the ass I put one of your videos on. They are very comforting. I specially love the stealth camping videos. I watch them over and over. Soo happy I found your videos.
Nice build! Tip: you can pile up the snow you remove from the inside around the edge of the quinzee around waist high. Then you hollow that out and block the original entrance. You end up with an "L" shaped entrance that really limit the wind but still allows ventilation.
Tip 2 : a vent hole at the top will help evacuate hot and humid air so the snow doesn't melt that much inside. For long term, especially with fire inside, the snow will lose insulation by turning into ice. For short term it doesn't really matter.
I like the video and hope you had fun ! I'm eager to see your next one.
I found your channel by mistake. Now I am addicted to watching. Your stealth’s help with my anxiety. Thank you. More stealths please.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😀

A funny story of when my buddy did his CWT in Alaska when they, his training buddy built something similar. Once they got enclosed and in their sleeping bags. His buddy needed to go to the bathroom. Instead of digging a cat hole or going back out, he discovered he had a ziploc bag. After filling it up he thought it would be a good idea to use the warmth of it. He then preceded to place the bag of warm urine on his chest in his sleeping bag. Then the cussing began. Moral of the story, don't buy cheap ziplock bags.
lol

I made a one of these when I was a kid. We had a huge snow storm and my grandfather came over with his John Deere bulldozer to help clear our driveway. We had a fairly long driveway, maybe 75-100 yards, so there ended up behind the house where the driveway dead ended a positively HUGE pile of snow. At first I was just going to dig a tunnel through it but that turned into an entire afternoon of hollowing out the coolest snow fort I ever built. My parents found it the day after and flipped out, declared it an unstable death trap, and proceeded to destroy it so it wouldn't cave in on me and bury me alive. It took them 4 hours and a pick ax to destroy the "unstable death trap". :-)
