17 años de jazz
Todos las grabaciones que he realizado en los últimos 16 años , alrededor del proyecto Sant Andreu Jazz Band , me hacen sentirme muy orgulloso y feliz porque son la representación de un trabajo que va más allá de mi mismo e incluso más allá de los propios músicos que forman parte de esas grabaciones.
El proyecto se ha convertido en una referencia a nivel mundial y mi metodología y filosofía de trabajo ha sido ejemplo para muchas otras organizaciones de similares características.
Por el proyecto han pasado más de 70 músicos, la mayoría de los cuales se dedican profesionalmente a la música. En la actualidad, la media de edad son 14 años.
Paralelamente a las grabaciones de la Sant Andreu jazz band ( 12 JAZZINGS representados en 22 cd’s ) comencé una serie de discos que llamé “ Joan Chamorro presenta” , que empezó con Andrea Motis en el 2009 y que se ha ido completando , a lo largo de los años con 16 volúmenes más :Eva Fernandez ( 2013), Magalí Datzira ( 2014), Rita Payés ( 2014 ), La magia de la veu ( 2014 ), Marc Martín ( 2015 ) , Joan Mar Sauqué Vila ( 2016), La magia de la veu & Jazz Ensemble ( 2016), Èlia Bastida ( 2017), Joan Codina ( 2017 ), Alba Armengou ( 2018), Carla Motis (2018), Joana Casanova (2019), Jan Domenech (2019), Marçal Perramon (2020) , Joan Marti ( 2020)

El 2021, el festival de jazz de Barcelona me dedico el retrato de artistas y tuve 5 conciertos. Para uno de ellos se me ocurrió la idea de juntar a todos los músicos con los que había grabado un cd de la colección de los “presentas”. Eran 15 músicos y casi podia formar una Big Band. Completé las secciones con dos trompetistas, Elsa Armengou y Gerard Peñaranda, un saxofonista, Koldo Munné (con el que en la actualidad estoy grabando su cd de presentación) tres trombonistas ( Claudia Rostey, Max Tato y Perot Rigau y para la sección rítmica conté con el que había sido el primer batiría de la SAJB, Arnau Julià.
Cada músico de los presentados escogió un tema. En la mayoría de los casos pedí arreglos especiales para la ocasión y Joan Monné fue el encargado de escribirlos.
Como decía al principio del texto, todas las grabaciones son importantes y me hacen sentirme orgulloso y feliz, pero la que hicimos para el JAZZING 12 VOL 2, con prácticamente todos los miembros que habían pasado por la Sant Andreu Jazz Band y esta que tenéis entre las manos , me resultan realmente muy especiales.
Son el resumen de algo importante, de algo maravilloso, son el resumen de un sueño precioso que no tiene fin.
La música , en este nuevo cd es maravillosa y podemos escuchar la madurez que todos han alcanzado a lo largo de los años.
Ninguno de los protagonistas de este trabajo esta ya en la Sant Andreu Jazz Band, pero siento que todos y cada uno de ellos formará parte siempre de nuestra historia. Una historia de éxito no buscado, resultado de un trabajo constante y de creer que el jazz puede ser y es una música que puede enamorar a los más jóvenes.
Esta big band era mi sueño y, ahora , una vez más, se ha convertido en realidad.
Gracias infinitas a todos los que lo han hecho posible .
That whole concert had to be a fantastic time. I wish I could have been there. What I really love about all these very talented young ladies is that for them jazz is fun, and that's the way it ought to be. They clearly love their music and they are like sisters. Very inspiring!

The thing I love the MOST about the SAJB, besides the insane level of talent, is this: look at the grins on all the faces of the singers. Eva, Andrea, Èlia, Rita and Alba always beam when they sing. Alba has even laughed in the middle of Alagoas, for instance - This puts an instant smile on my face! No matter the weather, the divas from the SAJB always make the sun shine. ¡Miraría un video de Joan Chamorro con las divas simplemente paradas en el escenario sonriéndose la una a la otra!
Here I sit in 8 inches of snow watching 5 lovely ladies sing the joys of Jobim....a happy unison ending and a hot alto solo....melted a lot of my snow.....great job

I simply love how Joan Chamorro brings the Brazilian music back to life again. It almost died within Brazil, but Pat Metheny took it US and the rest of the world in the late 1980'ties - with his own compositions - deeply inspired the country's culture. Maria Rita brought it to life again 2011 by her rediscovery of Elis music - at stage. Maria Rita is currently on a journey of bringing Samba to life again in Brazil (a fantastic project). This culture a) and music (Bossa/Samb is so rich - it deserves to be played again - many places. The productions - made from Spain - revitalizing this proud tradition - are absolutely at the top on the top - by every measurable parameter. To be admired!

These guys are amazing. They all sing, probably play multiple instruments. Haven't seen them dance yet, although Elia now and again does a little shuffle jog thing
Andrea IS also a dancer (she did some dancing in her early videos)!
During Andrea's coming out concert in 2011, Eva and Magalí do some pretty smooth swing dancing and Andrea takes a break from playing and singing midsong to dance. In the great, early documentary, there is a segment where most of the SAJB is dancing, in particular, Eva with a very young Alba.
