- Top Gun is back! Top Gun Maverick may have been delayed bc of the damn virus, but the toys are already hitting shelves. I found both Matchbox 5-packs and the first wave of five Skybusters at a local Wal-Mart, and they seem to be plentiful.
What do you think of these new Top Gun releases? Will you buy them or pass?

The enemy strike jet concept has been take from the real Russian su 57. And the darkstar concept has been taken from the SR 72 and unlike the su 57(which already exists), the SR 72 is just a concept plane as of September 2021😁😁😁
SR 72 in the movie is not a concept it's just a regular and SR 72 maybe in the sky's now nobody knows but pilot and us gourmet and might not look like it in movie date is June 2022 👽👽👽👽👽🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨😄😄😄😄

Awesome review, great sets these. I also did a review on these and just noticed that your Sky Busters go up to 15 planes where as mine only go to 13, not sure if its from being an international release, just odd. Oh I also just slice the top of the 5 packs and pull the plastic up, its easy and keeps the package clean :) Liked and subscribed

It would be cool and funny if someone made some scenes with those skybusters planes like the dogfight and the intro

The swing wing is actually an F-14 tomcat which is kiiiiind of a relic but is still used in the iranian military (which is seen in top gun 1)
The casting itself is a relic too as it first came out in 1981 ha! It’s a cool little jet and it’s wild to see it still being used over 40 years later!

Watched 3 days ago the movie and got 2 Darkstars 🤩🤤❤️🥰
Saw those in walmart clearance area so guess they sold some but not many but have seen the f-35 at air show cause it like harrier but more changes. almost got but at time budget crunch , but seeing this may have try get if still there so cool for review and all.
I think the Darkstar is inspired by the “fictional” SR-73
A few others had mentioned that as well, and now that more facts about the movie are trickling out - the plane is inspired by the real SR-72 concept plane design! Pretty rad!
Also the prop for the movie was designed with the help with Lockheed if I am correct

I believe the enemy strike jet is russian su57 themed imaginary plane. They look so similar. Su57 is a russian 5th gen(thats what they claim) stealth fighter which they claim can confront f22 raptor. They so far built 12 prototype planes, and two mass production planes. Yes, two. I dont know what is going on inside their russian factories, but maybe they are hand-making them or watering them on farmlands to grow them from baby planes.

I’m not totally versed on planes like I am cars, but my guess is Matchbox just used whatever F35 casting they had rather than make a totally new one…so that may be why the version isn’t 100% correct.

It's a real one sir, it is a copy of sukhoi-57, the first fighter jet enemy strike jet.
Atul Prakash it’s based on that jet, but it is not a direct model of that exact jet. You can see the toy version has extra parts and such that the Sukhoi doesn’t have.

They are metal with plastic parts. Like the support structure of each plane is metal and the rest of the plane is plastic.

That enemy strike jet is a real plane it’s the su75 manufacturered by sukhoi for the Russian Air Force however the dark star does not exist

Cipher and Pixy the Dark Star isn’t an SR-72, as it’s not a licensed model...so more than likely it just took design cues from a 72 and combined it with some fantasy design.

Yeah definitely supposed to be the F14 without actually using the “F14” branding. Mattel does that quite a bit and since it’s an added cost to get the license branding from companies, so they just make their version of it a little different so they can release it without issues. The swing wing has been around for a long time too!

i really like these jets, however, i wish they made the color’s more like the ones irl, and i dont rlly like the color coding of the jets for Rooster, Phoenix, nor Hangman. I want them to make a normal gray F/A 18 aircraft (with no maverick paint) models that look just like the real thing that says VFA
They did a good job for the cost, but agree they could be more realistic in terms of paint detail too. They have a almost plain F18 as Mavericks, but it still has the blue and silver striping on it.
@@64Wheels its still pretty cool tho. if i do get these i might as well just paint them gray. i also wished they would make it so you can put up their landing gear or at least make the gear interchangeable
especially the fact that the Su-57's color doesnt rlly match the one in the movie. and the battle damaged rooster jet is still red
I’m with you on the landing gear - I think that’s one of the biggest issues with these is I wish they have adjustable landing gear…but I’m also sure that if they did have that option, they wouldn’t be $3 still lol

But I think they used the f22 sky buster because it has a simular shape to the su57

It’s definitely inspired by one but has been modified quite a bit to stay away from licensing issues I’m sure. The paint job is pretty close to the SU-57s I’ve seen online too!

A few people caught that it’s supposed to be the SU-57, so good catch too! Since Mattel doesn’t have the license to cast that exact plane, they made their own version of it, so it’s not quite the actual SU-57, but it’s pretty close! And with the movie having a set release date you’d think we’d start seeing more planes for this line soon!

Haha right? I was really hoping the Aston Martin was going to be in the movie, but after I watched it and basically none of the cars were in it (other than the Bronco obviously), I was bummed….but the movie was pretty badass though either way ha!

Those aircraft are disappointing in detail!!
They are $3 lol - you can’t expect stellar detailing for that price point. However, the tampos are very sharp and the metal and plastic molds fit nicely together. To get a double licensed (Top Gun licensing and aircraft manufacturer licensing) aircraft for $2.99, that’s pretty reasonable.
If you’re looking for more detail, I’d highly recommend the Hot Wheels Top Gun F-14. It retails for double the Matchbox price ($5.99-$6.99) and has amazing detail for its size. I did a video on it to if you wanted to see it in more detail too🏁
And my son will be top gun in the US airforce when he grows up
