  • Every year in Girona, the local community comes together to build human towers for the annual Sant Narcis festival.
It's a big tradition in Catalonia. People say the human towers represent the Catalan spirit - when they stick together they can achieve big things.

Seeing these people make a human tower makes me hope for what possible things we could accomplish as a whole if we all just stop fighting one another and work together.
Just imagine if humanity as a whole worked together we could...
    Could end world hunger.
No more homeless for they would have a home to call their own.
People in Africa would have access to clean drinking water.
We could build a Space Elevator that would allow us to cut the cost of rocket and shuttle launches, and allow for larger and heavier cargo to be sent up to orbit.
We could capture an asteroid and mine for it precious metals and minerals.
We could build Space Colonies at the LaGrange(it is the point where the Gravitational Pulls is equal between the Earth and Moon) Point to where people could live in space.
    Colonize Mars
    And Explore Deep Space.
Just look at all the possibilities we could have.

I don't care if it's silly, it's a much better tradition than sticking spears into bulls and torturing them for pleasure.

This tradition is original of the Valencian community, not of Catalonia.

Alexiastral nope. The foundation of this tradition comes indeed from an older valencian tradition of dances and smaller human towers. But the "castells" itself, the concept of just building higher and higher human towers comes from Tarragona, south Catalonia.
Is like saying that bulls are a spanish tradition when there were TONS of more ancient cultures that used it in a lot of different ways.

Ja mos han fotut els castells els de Girona? The castells are practiced in Girona very recently, in fact they are a tradition of Tarragona.

Times have changed. Many years ago, most of international media used to think that Spain was Andalusia, flamenco, bull fighting...and now with the Catalonia Independance events, the international have discovered a new Spanish area. Still a few more to go though. Never late for cultivating some education.

In fact they are more or less the same. Sometimes even castellers from Catalonia went to participate at Dahi-handi.

It is not safe to have children with minimal protection or support more that more than 12 meters from the ground. Those persons are neglecting their children safety.

Lionel Messi is a one man human tower in Catalonia. Where he walks, people get on the floor to kiss his football boots making Messi feel very tall even though he is only 5' 6" in height. Puigdemont is the guy who wants to play tiki-taka football for 90 minutes with no shot on goal....put Messi in charge, he shoots and scores.
