- The Nerf Rebelle Charmed Dauntless is the perfect blaster to repaint with a steampunk theme and I'm going to run you through just how to do it in this new Nerf mod tutorial.
Hope it was of help to you.
As always comments / questions welcome at:
/ nerfenstein
This is the best steampunk paint job I have ever seen. You are very talented and very creative. Thank you a LOT for this demo!
You are lovely, thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a nice comment. Have an awesome day!
Nerfenstein aka GirlyGamer could you please make an steampunk tutorial for the nerf spectre? :) i'm From german and want to paint a nerf sniper
with a drum
That is so cool keep up the good work!!!!
Ooooooh.
Dat is NICE. The Rebelle's detail REALLY makes that go hand in hand.
Cool tutorial. I really like the aesthetic of the Charmed line, and I love dry brushing miniatures, so I'll have to give this a try.
I got my start in miniatures back in the 80's, it's a good transfer of technique for sure!
WoW that turned out incredible, much better than the ones I did, different guns.
Very nice! I really like that red handle, it really pops against the rest of the blaster.
What a great job. I've never seen such a perfect matching paint job on a Nerf blaster. Cut off the priming handle and put it into a showcase.
Yeah it makes a nice display piece for sure. It's a really pretty blaster.
I love it! High five for going the extra mile with the tape. it really makes a difference when painting things with as many curves and details as that rebelle. Most people would just paint over it, but it tends to be pretty sloppy results. However, your very talented and im subbing. looking forward to seeing more of your work :D
Aww thank you! Glad you liked the video. I use taping a fair bit, if you've got good tape it will save you a lot of precision work.
Gorgeous paint job. ...I'll be trying this for sure. It's a shame they don't give the male orientated line a similar design run.
Yeah, it's annoying the felt the need to split the line, but you know what they say, they aren't called HasBRO for nothing. You could steampunk up the Nerf Hammershot for a more masculine look, just use the same technique.
Nerfenstein I've just scored a rebelle off of the bay for 9 quid! cheap! Can't wait to give this a go. Checked out the hammer shot but to be honest I like the rebelle better. Love that faux cushion grip.
Yeah it has to be said the detail on the Rebelle is just superb, it really helps a repaint if there's a lot of nice detail to begin with and that cushioned grip is just lovely. Good luck with your repaint, I'd love to see it either here or over at my FB page, just tag me! Have fun!
I absolutely love what you're doing - thank you so much ! (FYI I stumbled upon your video browsing after being hugely dissatisfied with my first attempt at steampunking my daughter's nerf for an upcoming comic con...)
your paint jobs are fantastic!
Cheers Paul! Really appreciate it. It helps the base blaster is so beautiful for this one.
Another masterpiece
Aww thanks Michael! And for taking time to watch / comment!
wow that looks amazing
Thank you Paul!
Love this... Such great work! The red handle is a nice touch!
Cheers!! I was happy with this one when it was done, which doesn't happen often!
great tutorial! Really easy to follow along with, and my final product turned out awesome! I can't wait to use it in my steampunk cosplay. Thanks again, you're very talented :)
That's awesome! I'd love to see yours, if you don't mind sharing put it up on facebook.com/groups/geekyblinders/
Thanks so much for your lovely comment.
I am making a steam punk car and your video is going to be all the color you used, it inspired me to add the red cushion seat to it. My cat will be dressed up and I will make his vest to match the same concept, he will have his own set matching mine thank you for the idea's.
Oh my goodness I MUST see your project when it's done. Please tag me on Facebook! It sounds so cool.
Alice Coatduck sent me here...not disappointed. Awesome work!!
Alice is a wonderful girl, thanks for popping over, appreciate it.
Nerfenstein aka GirlyGamer please keep up the amazing work! It truly was awesome watching you create an amazing piece of art out of a Rebelle Blaster!
Beautiful work.
Thank you, this is actually one I was really happy with. :)
Wow that is beautiful! You are such an amazing painter. Awesome work!
You are such an amazing commenter, thanks for taking the time to say something nice.
Thanks for this video. I want to go steampunk on a project, but I don't want to do actual metal work. Paint is more my speed. This will be a great help.
Yay! Happy to be of help. Good luck with your project!
This is one of my favorite videos on this topic! May I ask, what band paint brushes you use? I got brushes that look like that, but they shed like crazy!
You did an incredible job as usual! I'm new to your channel. This video inspired me to purchase this gun and the Fair Fortune crossbow. I plan to make a complimentary pair of weapons. Thanks again!
That's awesome Ellis, feel free to post your work over on my FB group Geeky Blinders! facebook.com/groups/geekyblinders/
Nerfenstein aka GirlyGamer I'm going to try my hand at this one and The Rebelle Fair Fortune. I think they'd make a beautiful pair. Any tips for a first timer? Something along the lines of, "how not to asphyxiate your self from paint fumes and avoid being covered in acrylic paint from head to toe!" Also, I'm laying the blame squarely at your feet for sending me down the Nerf cosmetic modding rabbit hole. LOL Thanks!
hahaha I'll take that blame, it's a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy it. As for tips, well I've got lots of tutorials here, but my main one would be prep it properly, so sanding it all to give it tooth (and then clean it) before you lay down your base coat. Wear a mask when you're spraying enamel paint, that stuff can be nasty. Other than that have a blast!
Wonderful job! Bravo from France!
This looks amazing.
Do you hit these with a clear coat after? For protection?
Even if SHE doesn't it IS best to put a clear coat over any paintjob to protect the hard work you've put into it. Just means your paintjob will last a lot longer.
Would you have any interest in either selling this or perhaps doing a commission for another? I think I've watched this video three times now and I've realized how much I want some of your work in my collection.
Well I'm honored Coatduck :) I'm not doing commissions at the moment, I'm just doing work and selling, so if I do another I can let you know for sure! Female Nerf modders and all that! ;)
I absolutely love this!
Awww cheers Jason, thanks for the kindness.
Are the metallic paints you are using the standard acrylic paints you can get at the hobby store, or are they an oil based acrylic?
Just the standard ones you can get in hobby or even some cheaper stores. I have a video where I run through everything I use for modding. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching.
Gorgeous work! Thanks for taking the time to make these tutorials. Do you spray the end result with a sealer or anything?
I do if it's going to be used yes, if it's for display not always as it can wash out some of the effect slightly. But usually yes! Krylon matt.
Ta. My friend is trying your Han Solo blaster tutorial for his son these holidays. Can't wait to see it.
That's awesome, I hope I get to see it too. Tell him to tag me on Facebook if he posts it :)
Okay :3 thx
Hi absolutely fantastic job. I use Rub n' Buff, what do you use on your commissioned nerf guns. Thanks you.
I don't mind rub n buff at times, but prefer just acrylic generally. R&B seems to get everywhere and can be a pain to go over.
Thanks for your reply. You make it look so easy and it's not. But i'm getting there. Keep up the good work.
Great stuff! Love your videos! Amazing work! Now, my turn to go have fun and get myself steampunked! :-)
Thank you! Good luck with it!
Amazing!
Thanks so much! I really need to do another Rebelle soon!
Such a sexy ass gun!!! Well done!!!!
haha why thank you!
Do you use acrylic spray paints. I'm assuming the tubes you showed were liquid acrylics?
Also, do you have a link to the background music?
Enamel spray, but regular acrylic in the tubes, the base coat is enamel spray, all the detail work is done in regular tube / pot acrylic. Hope that helps :)
The music is probably just a standard iMovie track or license free works from here. I don't take note of what I use sadly, I just use whatever I feel fits a particular video. Sorry on that one!
Nerfenstein it does help. Thanks so much for the reply.
No problem at all, good luck with your project!
Do you use a cheap matt black paint spray paint? What brand would you use? Also when you do sand what grit sand paper do you use?
I use an Aussie car brand just from Supa Cheap Autos. As for grit, whatever I have, but usually 400, then 800. Hope that helps.
How long did this piece take you from start to finish? I have a convention coming up next month and I'm trying to figure out how long it will take me to paint 2 guns. This will be a first time project for me. If you could give me a list of basic things I'll need besides paint, that would really help.
Hey Carol, I think the video covers it all, you need sandpaper to sand the whole thing, you'll need to clean it all, good masking tape, good soft brushes, the paint obviously. You could easily do two blasters (a few days for each including drying times). Just don't rush it, make sure you wait for the base coat to dry etc. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips! I'll try to remember to post pics when I'm done!
Awesome! I'd love to see how you go. Tag me on the book of face!
Did you use matte or gloss for the dry brush?
Flat acrylic. :)
hai poi realizzato il tutorial per l'effetto legno?
I haven't taken the time to see your other tutorials, so forgive me if you have covered your primer process before, but do you take the gun apart before applying the black matte paint, or do you spray the whole item assembled?
Sorry for the late reply, I was on vacation. I only take them apart on rare occasion. I find you get a more even finish if it's all together.
Ahhh, see, I took my first attempt apart first. Next time I'll try it with the gun in one piece since an even finish does make a huge difference ^^
Incidentally, do you have a process on how do to that? I'm trying to imagine how one would go about spraying a whole gun without incident and I really can't get my head around it. Do you have such a video with you doing this?
Just go through my other tutorials, I've got numerous blasters in there. So long as it's all sanded so the plastic has tooth you should be fine, the only thing that can be a pain is the trigger because of where it is.
Righto ^^ Thank you for answering my question, I didn't mind the wait at all, so thank you ^^
You're welcome, be sure and join my Facebook group if you haven't so you can post your projects for me and others to appreciate :)

I think your great.
Aww well you've made my day, thank you!
Do you spray paint on the black
Yes, a few thin black base coats after sanding.
it's so cool
So is your comment! Thank you!
What paints did you use?
Did I not say in the tute? Black matt bass spray, then acrylics over the top. :)
Thank you! Sorry if I didn't notice it in the tutorial.
I'll try and be more clear in future tutorials :)
This, is soooo goood!

.... different unusual ;)
When did Missy get her own DIY channel? Isn't she supposed to be stuck in a great big vault for 1,000 years under a London school?
Hahahaha I wish! Thanks for reminding me, I need to watch last weeks episode!
your welcome! it's really fun, I recommend Galifraniac on Dailymotin
Glad I'm subscribed. If only I could find that blaster for sale.
I feel your pain, I can't afford the other Rogue One blasters at the moment either.
Nerfenstein WalMart had an AWESOME sale on the SWVII Blasters, recently. Snagged a DL44 and Trooper pistol. Couldn't find anything else, though.
We don't have Walmart here sadly. Glad you snagged a bargain.
Is BigW about the same thing.?.
This is for my steam punk oc.
Amazing what type of paint ?
Black matt spray for the base and just cheap acrylics for everything else. Good luck and thank you.
