I don’t think enough people know that this song is from the musical waitress, it wasn’t meant to be a creepy/ stalker song, the girl he’s singing to (dawn) has abandonment issues, she has her own song that shows how scared she is to open up to a man in case he doesn’t like her the same way. It was supposed to be a song to show that he won’t leave her.

@@reasonablewalk4982 The musical itself goes threw many stages (I’m not embarrassed to say I cried the first time listening) but Dawn and Ogie (that’s the name of character singing) meet in act one, which is this song, then get married in act two, I think the song is called ‘I love you like a table’. That song really shows just how perfect the two are for each other, they are both the ‘weirdos’ but their relationship has love and respect. I would really recommend listening to the whole musical, it’s got many depictions of abusive and bad couples in it, but I would say Dawn and Ogie have one of the healthy ones.

I don’t know if anyone else feels this ways but I find the voice he makes at the end hilarious every time. It’s like he’s purposefully tryna taunt and annoy the person he’s singing it too. But you’re never getting rid of him 😂
The reason this is frequently interpreted as yandere is because "get rid of" conveys intent. Someone trying to get rid of something is always, per definition, doing it on purpose. They might regret their decision later, but in that moment, it was a deliberate action. I think the song is ultimately meant to be interpreted as him not allowing her to push him away out of fear.Him continuously showing up again and again when her anxiety gets the better of her. I agree with you that get rid of has intentional connotations but I think you're right in saying that it's a decision that Dawn would regret later. I think if Dawn genuinely wanted to break up, Ogie would let her.

I don’t why but this hits me…being that that’s I view love: never leaving someone side to support them, improving upon one another, and never wanting to be without them, throw the sad, good, heart break, loss, and success. And loving all their floss and goals. And in the song he tries so hard to prove it that he loves her, but she doesn’t believe him.

Uh, my view of love is when two people are happy with each other and kind of balance each other, like a crazy person with a calm person or something like that. I haven't fallen in love yet, but I'd say the goal of love (at least for me) is to have someone there for you and you'll never be alone.
My view of love is people (not just 2, maybe more) who support each other, who can pick each other up when they're sad, and who will adore and cherish each other for years to come.
