How to Transfer Messages from Android to Android - Transfer all SMS / Texts

- Have you changed to a new android phone and didn't get your texts transferred in the setup process? With this solution you can get both you SMS inbox and your call log restored which is pretty handy to not loose half of your life because you changed phone. Let me know if you have any other suggestions for how to do this as simple as possible.

Are you also a bit frustrated after getting a new Android phone and realizing that during the setup process, your text messages didn't get transferred to the new phone? Fortunately, there is a relatively simple solution to this, and I'm going to show you in this video. First of all, you want to install the application, SMS, backup, and restore on both your devices. This is my new pixel 4. A, and I am opening the app there. This is my old Galaxy S8 where I'm opening the app. Then you want to go to the transfer page on both the phones. On the old phone, you will click send from this phone. Then you need to accept all the permits that it is asking for, both during install and for transferring. On the new phone, you press receive on this phone, and then you let it receive data here. Now you need to be on the same Wi-Fi network with both phones. The phone is showing up on the old one here. You can click on it and then you can accept the pairing. When I accept the pairing, I once again have to accept and restore here. And when I click that, it starts transferring the text messages from the old phone to the new one.
I get a prompt here. Do you want to transfer messages and phones from the phone like it is right now? Or do you want to use a backup? I want to do it with the current state of this phone. I have 852 calls in my log and about 5,200 text messages that are now being transferred over Wi-Fi. It takes a bit of waiting time for it to compress everything and send it over to the new phone. Once it's done, the old phone is done with the process and we can put it away. The new phone prompts me that it has to change the standard app for text messages to be able to restore the messages. I will let it do that and change the standard app for SMS, backup, and restore so that it can restore all my calls and my messages, and then I will be able to switch back to the regular messaging app. It then restores all the calls and texts from the backup that I just transferred. After a bit of waiting time, it says that it has successfully transferred my phone calls and messages. I then go into my text messages app, and there I just click the button to set this as the standard for messages.
After a little bit of waiting time, my old text messages seem to be all restored here in the phone. Now I have some 6,000 text messages that I can keep as memories from times that has been. - Наука та технологія
Have an old Motorola Droid mini & upgraded to a Moto G power. Tried to get SMS texts & call log transferred. Spent hours trying several apps. Some could not be installed on the Droid. Then came across this suggestion. WOW how easy it was!!!! Thank you!!!!

It worked the first time for me (Nokia > Sony) transfer, but the pleasing part was that it was easy to revert back to my normal Messaging App without any issues at all, great Content & Tutorial !

@2:04, how to you get to that screen to switch from the Backup & Restore app to the actual SMS app you have been using? The new phone does NOT prompt me to change [from Galaxy S7 Edge to OnePlus Nord N10 5G].

Thanks very much. Last time I changed phones Motorola used Bluetooth to transfer from old to new, and it was a breeze. This time around it was a nightmare going from my old G4 to the new G30. I was eventually able to complete a partial transfer, but not the SMS or call logs. I did have a bit of trouble with the phone pairing, and the first attempt at transfer failed, otherwise all good!

Thank you! Samsung smart share kept stuffing up but now I managed to get all the messages from my late father.
This really touched my heart. I was trying to save messages from my late dad as well. Unfortunately, this app didn't transfer all of the messages to my new phone, and my dad's messages were part of the few that didn't transfer over. But fortunately I was still able to save them to my computer.

Does it also transfer pictures from text messages. Do you know if it works for the text program called 'Textra" ? Does this program only transfer SMS messages or does it copy all the apps, phone numbers, etc to the new phone?
if it does copy apps too does it also transfer passwords or do you have to log in to all apps requiring a password?

@@na_k really good. My wife has it and loves it. Good battery life and a nice screen. It takes awesome night time pics, best we've had yet on a phone, the slo mo 8s pretty good too. The only minor problem is the lack of headphone socket, my Sony is the same and the adaptors I use (USB C -3.5mm) don't work, comes up as incompatible yet work on other brands so for us it's Bluetooth only. Great phone otherwise.
@@gwalia2112 hello, sorry to bother you. I saw your comment so I thought I would ask you a question or 2, maybe for some help. Is the program that the phone/samsung has Smart Switch? If so did you use that to transfer text messages? How far back can you go to transfer text messages? Can you transfer texts from 2019? I have to replace my moms phone but want to transfer some texts from 2019. Is that possible?. I read somewhere that smart switch only goes 2 years back. If that is the case then 2019 is 3 years, so I cant. But I'm not sure so I want to ask someone who has used it. Or anyone that has used something else that is simple enough for me to do. Cause I'm not sure. What did you do? Do you know about transferring voicemails? Messages from passed loved ones that we want to save. Anyway Thank you for any help you can give me on any of this. I appreciate it.
@@RieeBellaHoney Hi. Yes, when we migrated between the phones we followed all of the steps and it transferred all of the messages, selected apps and logins over. Now some of that I guess is Google dependent some Samsung itself. Never used any of the Samsung specific apps for messaging or anything else so can't speak for those. It definitely didn't miss out anything that we needed.

The transfer seemed to work all the messages came over in the apps required format. I clicked ok then went back into Textra (my texting app) but there were no additional texts. What did I do wrong?
I don't know anything about textra. Have never used that app.

So I performed the restore but I don't see my messages. What do I do?
It keeps saying the transfer stopped because the wifi was disrupted or phones are close but our wifi is fine and phones ARE close. Going from Samsung S8 to Google pixel 6 pro

Yes, this is completely not depending on sim card.
@@w2best hello please can you tell me if the messages and calls will remain on the original phone once the transfer is done to ensure that they are still there in case? Do they get deleted from original phone? Or is this just a case they are replicated on the new phone and still on old phone? Is it a samsung? Maybe you can use samsung dex to see what is going on at an external monitor.

Does this backup text messages older than 2 years? Why does smart switch only allow the past 2 years of messages?
Hello, sorry to bother you. I was going to use the smart switch but wasn't sure. Since I came across your comment I thought I would ask you. I read that smart switch tranfers text messages but goes back 2 years. I'm guessing that's true since you just commented that. Smh. I want to transfer texts from early to mid 2019, but I'm guessing it's not possible? Does it make sense to even try? I only ask you since it seems like you've delt with smart switch. Thank you for any help.
