Nas is a Hip Hop GOD.
But Rakim is G.O.A.T, he can't be beat.
SLSnoX I love Nas .But Rakim is the God /greatest
Gotta go with Rakim. He was more explosive and his flow was better. But I love Nas no doubt.
Im surprised there arnt more Nas supporters here
You're not using good examples for Rakim
RAKIM!
GOD VS GOD
REAL MC VS REAL MC
Nas is not the God Emcee
NAS is nice but RAKIM is the best lyrics ever im from that era when R hit the seen in cat's had to go back to the lab only other lyrics I think maybe in RAKIM Relm is Eminem truly i would never put him in front of the god mc in big pun was a beast as well.
You can add KRS , Black thought pharomonch, Mos Def, Brutha J , Canibus ect
this is tight, never saw it :)
Nas!
best lyricts are gza, nas, cannibus and k rino but rakim is still a top 10 lyricist
What the argument Nas ain't nothing but a younger version of Rakim!
Yo This Is Hard
This video didn't put Nas best verses.... Rakim is that dude but Nas is such a poet! I pick Nas.
i know, nas spits better on it was written
TUPAC
Barely? Paid In Full isn't even that good.
Rakim is a better wordsmith, nas is a better storyteller
Rakim made Nas look stupid on the Nike classic track by premo and premo said that Rakim is the goat 🐐 go to UA-cam so what’s up and episode 10
Juice is better than anything nas has made
RAKIM is cosmic in comparison to ALL other emcees; just listen to 'FOLLOW THE LEADER' (the track).
Rakim > All
I'm a Nas fan but Rakim is better still. But still gonna stay a Nas fan and not Bandwagon.
rakim
Rakim fa sho!💯✌
Rakim better for the simple fact he been rapping like they do 2day for over 20yrs he is the godfather of lyrical mcs he birthed nas pac 50 jz all lyrical mcs of 2day hence the god mc even nas & pac said Rakim were one of their biggest influences
Not a tough decision at all: if it were not for Rakim, then there would most likely never be a Nas.
Rakim ushered in a style of rhyme unheard of to the hip hop world. Nas (as great as he is) really didn't introduce anything that was not done before. Some have even argued that Nas's style can be traced back to Rakim. Rakim's style cannot be traced back to anyone; he was a true originator.
Rakim is on a higher level than Nas, and he is staying there.
ALL Facts !!! 💯💪💪💯💯
Yes but Nas elevated the style🤭
@@machenafrank9411 how did nas elevate Rakim style,,,and don’t say it’s because he talk about the streets more
@@machenafrank9411 Nas doesn’t use words like 3rd eye meaning your mind or bismiallah which means in Hebrew to give praise when you hit the floor nas is just another emcee talking about the same old street nonsense and Rakim is talking about knowledge of self and nas curses to much ,,, real talk and facts
@@machenafrank9411 Nas didn’t elvate anything homie
I Listen to both and i prefer Nas over Rakim, But Ra is better.
Rakim!!!
Greatest lyricists
i love nas...but there would be no nas if there was no rakim.theres a valid argument for both these dudes but ill bet money that if u ask nas...hell say rakim....rakim really moved hip hop in a more sophisticated direction
Rakim
TCC,you seriously can't judge rakim as a regular rapper, simply because he is not a regular rapper,no regular rapper has changed emceeing so how can you even put rakim in a regular rapper category.
why does this vid have so many dislikes
To me Rakim and Nas is Like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan they're very very similar Nas is better because nas has better songs and albums and Elite longevity but from a lyrical perspective they're both very similar and to some degree as MCs and as far as song making to some degree Legends nonetheless
We’re is nas one verse classic like Rakim track called paid in full
@@vernonjohnson1198 I mean it's hard to say who's better even though in my opinion it's nas however it's still hard to say now I have no problem with the paid in full verse or song because it's one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time Nas will probably say himself that paid in full would Trump every song that he ever made
Two of the greatest
the best of all time, this is like comparing jordan and kobe
its true.Rakim fathered Nas
Just like Joseph fathered Jesus.
Nas is intelligent. He can rap about anything.he can rap and stil maintain in the game til hes 70..
Nas is a song writer. a poet. a true artist.
think Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash.
Nas is repetitive and he doesn’t rap tracks like God Flow and holy are you,,,, it’s always about streets shit and he could never spit follow the leader or lyrics of fury and Rakim is the only rapper who has a 2nd album with 3i iconic and timeless classics and they are all back to back,,, and Rakim vice is better than nas voice and there’s a reason why Rakim is called the God Emcee,,,real talk and facts
Rakim wins in all phases in hip hop over nas,,talking about the streets dont make you a better mc,..rakim hands down period..the God MC
In what universe?
Who said talking about the streets makes you better? Talking about spirituality don't make you better either.
I agree, talking about the spirituality or the streets don't place you as the best, but I'm a go with Rakim!
@@vincepreston9304 who do you place or rakim and why
@@shak9558 the culture of hip hop history Homie there’s nothing special at nas he’s a biter
Its so good to not find a comment about tupac. because he does not compare.
Yes he does I put him before the 2 of these
@@chaydenhardy3596 You’re delusional, PAC had passion I grant you that but that’s about it 🎯His lyrics are rudimentary... black / Mack
Stay / play -- ill/ kill
He wasn’t able to blend , stretch , connect and combine words like these 2 do .... No disrespect to PAC , but come on man call it like it really is ... PAC and Biggie both are over rated, and people tend to glorify them bcuz of how they died : VIOLENTLY 😭
Rakim came out in in 86 and cats are still holding him up in high regards , and that’s from the people that really was there who really knows... So what do that tell you ? 🤔 PAC was a gimmick as was Biggie..... Both were able to parlay that gimmicks and images into financial gains and I respect it..... But as you should know both played gangstas and both got shot up and never got off 1 shot back.... With enterouges all around them ... IMJS I’m a realist been around since the inception of hip hop, and no one since the SugarHill Gang has ever made the type of impact that Rakim has on the game ..... And the man did it without a major label nor 10 billion spins on the radio, or the new trend of social media 💯🎯👍🏾😎😎😎😎😎
@@chaydenhardy3596 pac isn't highly skill as ra and nas
Nas is lyrically and better storyteller than pac
NAS IS NOT SICKER THAN RAKIM, Just check song Classic..Rakim murked it
Well spoken king 🤴 you know what up champ,,, real talk and facts
Nas definitely not better than Rakim....Rakim is the G.O.A.T.!
Rakim wins without question,,,
Rakim is a God MC but Nas lyrically better than Rakim
@@scania5552 nas has changed anything lyrically like rakim and rakim wrote a book called sweat the technique from the greatest lyricst in hip hop culture history period and that does include nas....real talk.....

I can't say one is better than the other. What I can say is that this video features the two greatest rappers of all-time.
Yes!
Rakim, 2pac & Nas! 💯🐐
they both have a slight similar cadence... when you listen to the dynamic of their rhymes and structure, its also similar. its hard to pick who's better. but i'd go with Nas...DAMN, I CHANGE MY MIND, RAKIM... FUCK IDK. LOL
😂
Rakim made Nas look stupid on the Nike classic track produced by dj premier and even dj premier said that Rakim is the Goat and premo has done more tracks for nas than he has Rakim and Rakim wrote a book called sweat the technique and it’s a statement that no other rapper or emcee can ever say including nas and nas curses to much,,,,real talk and facts and Rakim lyrics and flow is smooth and effortlessly
@fullyfunked but I'm interested in seeing where you are coming from so if you would please send me more recommendations of rakims tracks would be grateful.
I just can't get into Nas, I think its his vocal tone, its too high pitched and monotone. No contest here, Rakim every single time, holds your attention and puts 100% into delivery.
I hear a lot of people say "If there was no Rakim there would be no Nas". That might be true. Keyword MIGHT. However, there may have never been a Michael Jackson without James Brown. Does that mean James Brown was a better performer than Michael??? Sometimes the student can SURPASS the teacher people. It's called enhancing the game.
Not at all...Ra is more skilled. Nas existed when HIP-HOP had more commercial outlets. This has nothing to do with skill. It just shows how corporate manipulated an artform for financial gain and diluting the pureness of the genre as well...ability wise there's no comparison.
reg munch Best comment
The bar was already risen by Rakim before Nas had ever contemplated being a lyricist. Rakim is the most original Emcee of all time. He brings abstract thinking, a intellectual mind set, self esteem based on brain power & musical patterns only ever seen before by jazz greats. No one had ever done this before and as a consequence he laid out a serious blue print. Originality is always the key to art and this is why people like Nas always give it up to Rakim.
terrytees Best comment - Rakim the greatest in my opinion
Thanks💯
imma say nas is a better lyricist, but rakim has more skills with the flow and wordplay and punchlines...nas paints better pictures in my opinion and i relate to him more..but this is tough
I love Rakim but it's NaS for me hands 👇🏾💯
Nas
idk Nas is nasty and Rakim is a lyrical genius. They are both good, and there in my top ten
Rakim is the GOAT
Unpopular view but Nas is the overall better mc of the two of them aside from maybe flow, impact, and influence
Nas hasn’t made no impact on the culture of hip hop music history like Rakim at all so Homie you are seriously insane and where’s nas one. Verse classic like Rakim paid in full iconic track
Both great
The God MC & God's Son
There is no Rakim vs Nas ever! Rakim is the teacher, Nas is the student.
@jayd4ever
As far as K-rino goes, you either like him or you don't sort of like Canibus, but if we are talking lyrics to me it's Rakim, K-rino, GZA, Nas, Jay Electronica
In my top 10 I have Nas at 5 and Rakim at 3, Lyrically Nas is better, (memory lane second verse arguably one of the best verses in hip hop history) but Rakim's delivery is great he makes you can't wait to hear the next line and to listen more, both legendary MCs.
Rakim made Nas look stupid on the Nike classic track produced by dj premier and even dj premier said that Rakim is the GOAT on his show on UA-cam called so what’s up episode 10! and premo did more tracks for Nas then he has Rakim and Rakim wrote a book 📖 called sweat the technique and it’s a statement that no other rapper or emcee can ever say including nas and nas curses to much,,,, and nas never uses words like 3rd eye mean your mind and bismiallah which means in Hebrew give praise when you hit the floor,,,,real talk and facts
Nas has never rhymed the words of this before with bismiallah which means in Arabic to give praise when you hit the floor,,,so nas is not the better lyricist at all homie and Nas wordplay is basic slange compared to Rakim wordplay,, real talk and facts
Nas would never spit a track like follow the leader or lyrics of fury or holy are you or God flow by Rakim
@HeadHipHop: You could argue that Rakim's flow is better. Like I said, I'm biased. I can sit here and defend Nas all day. But I think I could really get into Rakim's music. Anything else I should check out?
Rakim is better than nas both lyrically and flow and Rakim made Nas look stupid on the Nike classic track so there’s no way you can defend Nas on anything against Rakim and nas can’t spit the saga begins or follow the leader or lyrics of fury,,, and one mic 🎤 is some trash 🗑️ compared to microphone fiend,,, real talk and facts
The greatest rap controversy of all-time.
Rakim invented lyricsim and flow and he made Nas look stupid on the Nike classic track and nas doesn’t rhyme words like this before with bismiallah and Rakim wrote a book called sweat the technique and it’s a statement that no other rapper or emcee can ever say including nas…real talk and facts
Rakim is definitley the God emcee if any. He sticks to one style and mastered it and not one lyric is about harming another person and he stays true just like the sage begins states, the legendsary Rakim will forever be around.
I wish they did an official record. I know we got the "Classic" record, where Ra smoked Nas, and the "Streets of New York" record with Alicia Keys, where it was neck and neck. But I always wanted to hear an official song with those two over a DJ Premier record in the late 90s/early 2000s
I feel Rakim got Nas on both. For me I wishd Ra & Nas made a DJ Primo Produced Joint Album. I felt When I Be on the Mic & Come Get Me sounded very similar(both done by Primo both in 99)
Rakim got d flow but I will go for nas
Nas Eats Rakim.. he's too Advanced.
Exactly 💯
Come on Rakim ….get at Kane already
You cant lose going either way with these two, but I prefer Ra, and you should have tossed in "my melody."
Rakim was one of the influences of young Nas. Nas hung out at Marley Mals house when Rakim worked on the Paid N Full album there
As tight as Nas is, he is no Rakim by a long shot.
It's like people on Shady's ass but forgot about Kool G Rap qho Shady/Eminem credits his style after.
WM young, there would have been a Michael Jackson regardless of James brown influencing him, because Michael Jackson was a natural born pure and true singer from damn near birth and Michael Jackson could flat out out sing James brown period,so its different in hip hop as a emcee because its rakim's innovative approach and rap style and flow that changed emceeing,,nas hasn't done that at all,the only thing that nas did first was to use alot of different producers on a hip hop album because he didn't have his own sound like rakim did,,, plus rakim's subject matter is different with spiritual substance and nas even try to copy that from rakim,,so no nas its better than rakim at all especially when he is always trying to bite off of rakim period,...nas is the poor man's rakim
nas wins
Ra is the inventor. Nas is a student. Case closed
..
Welll said king 🤴….real talk
@THEDUKE4242 the greatest lyricist isnt rakim its canibus then nas
If you don't know who K-rino is now is a good chance to get familiar. Check this joint off his new album "The day of the storm" called "Identity Theft" K-rino is definitely one one the greatest lyricist ever to touch a mic. Just you tube "Identity Theft" and peep the story he drops. One word to describe it would be Insane! Peace.
nas
👑
Rakim has been surpassed in terms of skill, but he will never be eclipsed in terms of influence.
Rakims first 3 albums is better than Nas first 3 albums case closed.
it's a battle between the 2nd best rapper & my 2nd fav rapper. nas is my 2nd fav rapper.
lyrics nas, flow/delivery rakim
NAS
You`re just a unicorn regenerated in a human form..
@THEDUKE4242 im not a fan of k rino he has talent but im not feeling him that much and another thing i wasnt talking flow because rakim has a great flow while cannibus not so much im talking about lyrics i think they can compete i dont think nas can compete with either but he is still up there with the best.
This is the hardest question i've heard.. I'm a MASSIVE fan of Nas and Rakim.. both had great albums illmatic and paid in full.. i think overall you would just have to put them on the same level.. The GOD MC with his smooth deliveries and that golden flow and practically taught MC's like Nas the way of hip hop, then you have Nas with his smooth story telling and those lyrics that no other rapper could write on paper.. i would have to put them on the same par coz i cant choose between them!
They are not in the same category nas haven’t done anything for the art form because he’s a biter he’s not organic
(Cont)
The average person doesn't analyze Hip Hop like that
If they really knew, and did, then they would see how Nas is better.
Nas is just a more overall complete rapper. It's not about the aspects covered, but he just excels in things Rakim does, and more.
I've heard the discographies of both MC's, and can see no legit argument on Rakim being better.
Being a legend is irrelevant when you're strictly comparing skills.
.... I think you get my point.
when iwas 12 iwent to hell for snuffin jesus come on yo itsill
Pac was way better then both
NAS the 🐐
Nas all day
True
Nas is the GOAT
the sage begins obviously beats every song on hip hop is dead put together, if hip hop is dead was one song that was really long, the sage begins is better, you should of used take in blood or something from it was written
Nas
even, nas has better lyrics but rakim has better flow
We’re is nas verse classic like Rakim track called paid in full

@fullyfunked please elaborate because i heard the 18th letter and though the lyrics are complex and the flow is nice; it still hasn't proved to me that rakim is unbeatable. I agree what johnny john said about it being taboo. Rakim built the foundation of hiphop but that doesn't make him untouchable. I compare a track from the illmatic album to the 18th letter and somehow my mind enjoys hearing the illmatic song more. Is it the delivery? Is it the beat? or is it the word play? idk

Nas hasn’t changed anything lyrically in the culture of hip hop homie so you’re statement is bull shit
Rakim {THE GOD} Why?... in his own words.. "When the topic is topic-less, than I'm writing the APOCALYPSE"... Nuff Said!!
Nas {GOD'S SON} Why?... in his own words.. "Before the christ after the death the last one left"... Nuff Said!!
Rakim and Nas are surpass any rapper in the hip hop industry those lyrics prove it. Just ask Jay Z how that burnt felt after ETHER! Yet a lot of people out their don't know, all they know is brainwashing, bubble gum, club bullshit RADIO PLAY HITS!

Nas > Rakim
You guys need to take away Rakim's legendary status and judge him as a regular MC, then you will see how Nas surpasses him, easily.
Exactly 💯
Nas in his prime, it has become taboo to say that someone is better than Rakim when in fact most people who say Rakim is the greatest dont really listen to him. Nas has better songs, albums, and longevity than Rakim
nas for sure
imo
N.A.S!
Rakim is probably the greatest lyricist but I think alot of you may not know who K-rino is. Check out Grand Deception, Valley of Death, The Debate, Flow Session #1, Flow Session #2, Flow Session # 4, Duality, Lifting the Veil to name a few. K-rino is on another level as is Rakim. Jay Electronica is dope too.
K-rino doesn’t rhyme words like this before with bismiallah which means in Arabic to give praise when you hit the floor but Rakim rhymed them both and k-rino will never spit a track like follow the leader or holy are you by Rakim,,,real talk and facts
