    depending on which beat rakim in the early 90s flowed on he would set the style for that era eternal because he was an unlimited source of slang

    Awww man!!!! This is so refreshing. New material from Ra. Theses are the kinda tracks that made him the greatest. The best marriage between beats and rhymes ever. The beats were so much better back then, even though it was a lot of samples they had substance. Keep rhyming Ra.

    The two most coveted MC's in hip hop history are Nas and Rakim. I think evolved more in terms of style and longevity at the top but Rakim will always be Jordan to Nas's Kobe. Rakim in his prime was the most technically proficient MC. He invented Illmatic's style a decade earlier.

    "Everything's Cool" bears a resemblance to the lyrics that wound up on "What's on Your Mind", so I can understand why it was never released as a single.
    Thanks for posting these rare gems!

      He wasn't talking about Big Daddy Kane. RAKIM had a line about Kane in the original version of LET THE RHYTHM HIT'EM but Kane called him and told him he never said anything about him people were just instigating beef. So RAKIM removed the line from the song and never said anything negative about Kane.

    • @goldiesob
      @goldiesob 6 років тому

      meagainstthewrld wish I could hear what those lines were because Let The Rhythm Hit-’em is one of the most wicked songs ever!!

      Kane and Rakim did have beef though. Go lesson to Mortal Kombat by Kane. That was aimed at Rakim. Rakim responded with Let the Rythem hit Em.

      dread668 that's false. They never made dis tracks that were released. RAKIM believed the street rumors that Kane dissed him and he made a dis track but he told Kane about it and Kane told him he didn't say anything about him so RAKIM trashed the track he never put it out. They both let that be known years ago.

      dread668 I always felt that Mortal Combat was a genetic wanna be Lyrics Of Fury . Rakim is the god

    Dissing the best one, I can guess that KANE was a threat.

    Great lyrics by the R but always hated those fast jazz tracks that him and Kane would rhyme to. I like the more laid back tracks like Eric B for President and Smooth Operator

      Rakim "SINGING HOOKS", NOT SHUTTING this NEW SCHOOL FIASCO DOWN, I COULD GO ON but I'm trying to watch something. Caz TOO. OLD -SCHOOL should COME BACK . It isn't fair. NOTHING NEW GOOD ANYMORE . Wanna hear what they have to say about NOW. Rakim is SCARED TO SERVE EMINEM? WOW. Caz sold out by giving Eminem props. Em shouldn't have accepted the award. He should've made the award retroactive & gave it to who really deserves it.
