Thank you forever Jason Molina, your music fits sadness like a knife fits it’s sheath. I wish you were still here, I hope things feel better now in the great oblivion.
Jason you will tell your mom her brother says hey when you get to heaven. We love you and will always have you in our hearts. I wish I had known what you were going through other than what you told me and Brenda at your mothers wake.
You can tell his band members have the ultimate respect for him, they see him all the time and they still are in awe riding on each of his words... Jason was very sick here and he still hits every note with ease... he was the universe's gift to all of us 14000,000,000 years and one Jason Molina, there will never be anyone even in the same dimension as him.
One of a handful or dark honest songwriters....such a talent if you enjoy the dark side which i do...miss him so much glad others are keeping his music alive
Amazing video. When Jason was going through his rough patch before his death, I used to sing “Hold on Molina”...I can barely listen to this song without shedding a tear.
One of my favorite videos. Was lucky enough to see Jason Molina live in Atlanta around the late 90s/ 2000s. A great artist and band; Fantastic performance here
Magnolia is a flower that is known to represent feminine beauty, so this song could be him talking to a loved young lady, maybe a southern belle, telling her to be strong through his passing. Magnolia also means perseverance and longevity. This sound could be a cry for his health to hold on, for him to persevere. To hold on.

I use to listen to it when I am low and I get the entire feeling, close to death, and preciate it, whith respect. It is too much. Even my spanish language, this is an universal feeling, all across any spoken word. Pure soul. Rest in peace and keep in the sound
I had just discovered MEC when Molina died. I still remember that strange feeling. I had found them about two months prior and was listening constantly. They’re still my favorite band. RIP Jason.
I got into Songs:Ohia by accident when i wrote down the wrong name of a band a friend suggested. Not the sort of music i would listen to put feel in love with Molina's music. Was looking to get to the states to see Jason live.... alas... i was too late. RIP
Hold on Magnolia to that great highway moon No one has to be that strong But if you're stubborn like me I know what you're trying to be Hold on Magnolia, I know what a true friend you've been In my life I have had my doubts But tonight I think I've worked it out with all of them Hold on Magnolia, I hear that station bell ring You might be holding the last light I see Before the dark finally gets a hold of me Hold on Magnolia to the thunder and the rain To the lightning that has just signed my name to the bottom line Hold on Magnolia, I hear that lonesome whistle whine Hold on Magnolia I think its almost time
this video has such grace to it. i cant help but thinking of hank williams for some reason. such a great band. there was really something special going on there.
I saw Jason play at Knitting Factory in NYC sometime in 2001. It was him an SG and a Fender Twin Reverb and I had never been so impressed by anyone in my time of seeing live music in NYC. RIP to one of the best. Truly one of the most under rated and most talented song writers of the past 10 years.
Jason was the very voice for many of os. Some (good for those fortunates) might just hear some cool indie dead guy. Those in the know will forever mourn that he never made it.
Sigh......... I really love his music, learned first now that he has died. Saddens me a great deal as I was hoping to see him live atleast once. :( Fn great artist
20 years of the best record ever made. Thank you Jason. Rest easy.

Just heard this song for the first time 10 minutes ago. Holy shit. Blown away. Magnolia Electric Co. is just full of gems.
Every single time I watch this performance I start crying. My god, the way he sings "I hear that station bell ring" ...
This one breaks my heart every time i hear it.
Me too.

Depression sucks.

holy mother of baby jesus i miss this guy. and i didn't learn of him until after of his death.
What an absolutely beautiful voice and song. RIP Jason. Gone too soon. Wish I had discovered him before he was gone.

Heart breaking but beautiful at same time. Thanks Mr Molina. forever man,
i miss him, i miss him so much :'( :'( :'(
Before the darkness gets ahold of me...unbelievably sad in retrospect. I love Molina more than any other artist.

As the years into age 31 adulthood have progressed, I find myself balling my eyes out to this song more and more...
and now you're as old as he when he passed.
Hope you’re doing well now
I wish he didn't have to go. Because I loved all of this, all the feeling this music brought up in me.
Jennifer Dowling Urenia you're 100% correct
Hold on Magnolia to that great highway moon

I know what you're trying to be

Hold on Magnolia

it's like Slint's "Washer", the great songs pass by so quickly.
Oh Jason did you have to be such a heartbreaker. I hope you're at peace now.
The best songwriter we will see for a long time. Heartbreaking.
this video has such grace to it. i cant help but thinking of hank williams for some reason. such a great band. there was really something special going on there.
You can tell they loved it too

Such a Beautiful Version.
Before the Dark Really did get ahold Jason. BLESS
RIP chabón. Dejaste tanto y tu rastro se ve a lo lejos. Gracias por compartir mi mismo tiempo y planeta.
I discovered this artist after he died. What a genius. What a great band. John Henry split my heart, too. Rest in peace, Jason.
Nothing more beautiful than this. Stunning.
R.I.P. ... a truly great musician
He will be missed. Through the static and distance, a Farewell Transmission...
this show is surreal to me ….a wide awake dream
Just gorgeous
Such talent dead at 39 from alcohol induced organ failure... I shouldn't need any more reason to quit drinking, but it's not easy.
You left his 6 years ago. How are you doing?

Descansa en paz, amigo. Al fin. Hasta siempre
I watch this video almost every single day. Thank you Jason
I will miss him so much. I used to play this song to get myself to sleep for years.
Heavy, heavy news. You will be sorely missed, Jason Molina. Rest easy.
Miss you Jason
Thanks for the upload. Tearing up. So much feeling in this song.
Unique voice!
I'm so incredibly sad today. RIP Jason. You'll be sorely missed.
This song is absolutely beautiful!
Спасибо, Молина!
Greatness.
I'm crying
He sings better at a .35 BAC than most people sober
I'm all choked up. Wassup with that??
So Good!
Stairway to Heaven when we listen.
beautiful music. Rest in peace
feels like the end of summer
You might be holding the last light I see
Before the dark finally gets a hold of me
The most beautiful lines of one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.
Adiós Jason, se te extrañará mucho. Un gran músico, un gran poeta. Que tengas un buen pase a la inmortalidad!!!
♥

Dope content, keep it up and stay blessed!!!
Not dead. Love

any mp3s of this version?
Great song. Lead guitar hits a clunker at 3:14 but great song wins out.
Miles Davis - 'Do not fear mistakes - there are none. '
I actually kind of liked it.
it was def. a clunker, tho.
R.I.P.
If you like this style go get some old Buffalo Springfield or New Riders of the Purple Sage, very similar.
One person is a dingleberry
anyone know what guitar hes using?
It's a Danelectro of some sort.
Jason Molina
R.I.P
WE STILL HOLD ON TRYING TO BE WE ALL LOVE YOU JASON MOLINA...
Holy crap... This was good. How long out was his death. Im just curious.
He died in 2013 of alcohol related causes, after struggling with alcoholism for years

Looks like a Danelectro Convertible
the world needs more bolo ties
RIP MOLINA
RIP
I hope you worked it out, buddy.
Time and time again
I just let go...
non è giusto che te ne vai così
Who can blame him for not wanting to hang around? Once you've seen through all of life's bullshit everything's pretty meaningless.
