I used to have the hasbro version of this in 2007, got it for christmas as a kid. I loved it! Sold it at some point at a yard sale or something but accidentally kept the ax. Had it for years, no idea where it is now

This was one of my very first Transformer toys that I got for Christmas back in like 2007-8, and I loved the absolute hell out of it. However, being little kid me and not giving a shit about snow=wet, it eventually gave the batteries problems, but it still worked.

sweet primus I remember having this animated optimus prime as well as a fast food toy animated prime, a legends class animated bumble bee, and a deluxe prowl. I remember constantly losing prime's axe and I lost his siren light bar, but i had so much fun with rollout command optimus prime.
I really like the metallic red paint on this figure, helps it really pop
I skipped it even though I collected almost all Hasbro Animated figures. Was just too big but the metallic paint made me want it but the Japanese voice box made me not want it again. If I ever own this toy, it has to have David Kaye in it.
Only the Japanese version was metallic the Hasbro version was plastic red
The mainline version of this figure was my first tf toy ever, it was a gift from my cousin for buying him his first skylanders game
When you see Haslab Unicron in person, saying anything else is big is an overstatement

I had this toy in the animation accurate colors and I loved it so much! Nice seeing toys I grew up with being reviewed so recently from you keep it up

God i was so dumb as a kid, i wanted this big-ass thing for Christmas in '08 and i have till this day, but i played with it for 2 weeks and got bored. Even as a kid i never liked gimmicky toys, and i'll forever regret not picking the Voyager one, would've had more fun and saved my mom some money.

I’ve used buyee a few times now, got burnt once or twice but the majority of the time it’s been solid. Got a Hunter Smokescreen brand new in box for £24
Got the Hasbro version for Christmas, gave it to a friend I met exactly like 3 times.
I remember my neighbor's kid had this, but I saw all the inaccuracies from the cartoon. It made me appreciate the voyager more

All the more reason to spend a few extra on the Takara releases over Hasbro. Plus, Takara got the Wingblade accessories for the voyager we never got, plus they came with an exclusive version of the Voyager in trans-plastic (Wingblade armor was solid color with the usual Animated Takara metallic paint job, so it could easily be used with the original TA-01).

He's saying Ikuzo which means "Lets go" then says it in english. when he axe swings he says "Battleaxe" but with japanese pronunciation its more like "BATTLE-AX-UUU"

I enjoyed the Hasbro version, the speech gimmick went "My name is Optimus Prime!" (In David Kaye's voice) which was lame, until the show finale, and then it was suddenly cool. Also the axe-swinging noise was interspersed occasionally with Optimus going "ha HA!" , which was goofy fun.

On the topic of those ROTB Voyagers, I don’t think we have a specific MSRP for the mainline deluxes/voyagers. They’re going to be cheaper than generations but we don’t know by how much at this point. Like hell yeah if he’s 25, better value than most current deluxes for the amount of parts alone, but I have a feeling he’s going to be 30 USD, which would suck since that was the price of a siege voyager

I had this toy while I was moving and I can absolutely attest to that this toy does not shut up at all. Being packed with so much stuff and being stuck in traffic also did not help.

I got the deluxe battle begins animated prime on eBay. It was sold with another but incomplete copy and 2 incomplete megatron’s it was originally included with. The battle begins prime has a little battle damage that I don’t like. So I’ve been working to customize him to be cleaner
I have this U.S.A. version. When you hit the symbol he says “My name is Optimus Prime” in robot form and his mouth guard moves up & down. The U.S. version is not so cherry colored on the red.

I’ve tried to get into this channel a number of times because of the amazing consistency and willingness to cover w/e they want, but the humor never lands for me. Maybe because I burnt out on James Rolfe styled content when I was in college. That “angry reviewer” schtick has turned into nails on a chalkboard for me. I’d blame Doug Walker more than most. Everybody and their mother made content like that for a good long while. But a decade and a half after it’s not as pervasive so makes sense people rediscover the genre.
I just have a tough time getting through the vid without being irked by minor grievances causing visible annoyance. It’s the bit I get it and obviously it’s landing an audience so that’s good. Just wish I wasn’t sick to death of that humor by the time I found this channel. 😢

BTW, the way of how the wheels are close together in vehicle mode is accurate to the cartoon, so that makes this figure's truck mode the most show accurate of all of TFA Optimus Prime's figures to date.

From what I remember the Hasbro version was not metallic it was painted plastic because I had that toy when I was younger and I don't remember the metallic look

The Takara decos definitely aren't ideal for the Animated line. The only one I recommend is Rodimus because the Hasbro one has inaccurate colors.

Felt too old then to bother with this one as it felt like an upsized/gimmick heavy toy with Fisher Price proportions in vehicle mode. Not to say the Voyager was perfect as it also had an annoying spin/transformation but I was happy with it all the same. Loved the stop motion bit with Animated prime cutting down DOTM Megatron. Crazy how small he looks in comparison to Roll Out Prime but tbf Leaders were definitely defined by their height back in the day.
I still have the hasbro version but his noises got on my nerves so I took out his battery's
