This is the BEST actual review of this phone so far. It's what I'd call a USER'S REVIEW. All other channels tell you what you already know. This dude tells you how you can use the phone as a user. Keep it up mate! You've earned my trust and hopefully some more people. Thanks for this great review.
Phones with completely flat sides are horrendous for long time use, I'll happily take the OnePlus 13's design any day, especially coming from an S21 ultra. As flossy carter would say "It feels so good in the hands. Ladies, you know the procedures."
Parker, it automatically records i the 265-efficiency video format. You gotta change i in the camera settings to the 264 format and you're all good 👍 Love you're a multi-platform Tech success, and don't know some phones do that trick. I believe the iPhone 12 did the same from launch. Kind regards a 4K tech UA-camr writing from my pseudo account 😅
Parker, even on the apps that don't automatically change when you apply an icon pack, you can long press on an icon and still change it to something from the icon pack you have applied. It might not be a perfect solution because the options are limited but you can still get most of those apps to look like the rest of the icon pack apps. I also noticed that some apps just dont give the option to edit like this but still, a nice option to have.
I can't believe we went from pushing for innovation so phones can store music back in the old days, to now making phones all about easier icons rearrangement.
12:39 Oneplus 13R gives S24 fe and Oneplus 13 upcoming S25 a run for money, but a slightly better bloatware free UI, micro sd card slot and Hi Res 3.5mm jack will probably make me instantly.
Bro, you are missing the beat entirely. OnePlus 13 will compete with S25 Ultra when you put the specs and feature list together. S25 might have a comparable screen and maybe better main camera, but it will not compare in other specs.
@Arpit9614 I'm comparing Oneplus 13R to S24fe and Oneplus 13 to S25 and S25 plus. Since, it js better in pricing than S25 while having bigger screen and battery. Also, seems to give great fight to S25+
Your video problem could possibly be due to a settting already enabled in the camera app called "High efficiency Video compressing" or HEVC. Idk for sure but try turning that off through camera -> setttings -> formats -> High efficiency video and turn it off.
Cosmetically, I prefer the premium look of curved glass. Conversely, flat screens are more practical. To that end, I feel oneplus designed the perfect hybrid. Obviously, the majority of the screen is flat. Although, there is a very minor curved taper at the edges. Furthermore, the minor curve doesn't cause missed touches or issues with swipes and gestures. Actually, Nova launcher is my go-to. I've been using it on my 13 since I received it on Friday. I haven't had any issues. It runs smoothly and as it should. I'm not trying to be snarky but, I find most of your criticisms to be somewhat nitpicky. Especially, in regards to magnetic accoutrements. Frankly, engineering a device to incorporate magnets is somewhat tricky. Obviously, it's possible but, oftentimes not worth the extra design expense. Incorporating them into their OEM cases is a perfect solution. At least, that's my opinion.
That’s what i did and i won the s24u but I’m not impressed at all by the s25u,it’s barely an upgrade and one ui still isn’t that smooth as the competition
I have 10 minutes shy of 10 hours of screen on time after streaming the entirety of Creature Commandos (mid btw), stream gaming several hours of ZZZ and Genshin Impact with the GeForce App, playing 3 matches of Fortnite, UA-cam-ing, and listening to Spotify. Currently still have 31% left...and I'm using the OnePlus 12. It truly depends on how you manage screen refresh rate for individual apps. I've gotten up to 16 hours out of it with constant movies before, and gone close to three days of normal use before needing a charge. I'm sure the 13 can do better, even if only by 10-20%.
@tuurtaburco Gemini says no. I've never had a Samsung and was unaware of the imposed limitation. With OnePlus you can pick 60, 90, or 120hz for each individual app. I now appreciate that ability more.
Good review. By the way, have you found out how to keep the Background dataof each app turned off in this phone? Because I keep turning off and they have rigged it to turn on this setting every few hours. So much hungry to sell our data to google, even when we are paying premium prices for this phone.
I heard about the problem with Adobe Premier in the Russian section of UA-cam. It was some problem with codecs. I think the solution was to convert the file from mp4 to mp4. Hope you find it helpful
Hey! Regarding your issue with Nova Launcher. I was actually having issues with it on my OP 12. I changed the app opening animations to the systems animations instead of novas default. It wound up fixing the majority of my issues! Hopefully that may help you out 🙏
Larger battery does not necessarily mean better daily battery life but consistent battery performance over a long period of time because the battery degradation over time will not be as much
You know, you're like me as well? Because I mainly focused on what I liked about the phone, not going through the actual in-depth details. So, basically, you have to go through the whole specs and then share your opinions afterward. Now, in my opinion, I would like to do something like that, but I think I'm going to break it down a bit, with things I really like, in different videos, not in one full video. Otherwise, there would be a lot for me to edit.
Oneplus has just released an update firmware which has camera improvements. The Video issues are like due to OP13 using variable frame rate for some unknown reason. If you put the phone in to master mode it'll stop with the OTT processing though you cane lose some details.
7:35 That's kinda weird. My OnePlus 6T always had the option to turn off Google Now. But, then again, OxygenOS as we knew it doesn't exist anymore. Now its basically just ColorOS because BBK didn't wanna have multiple software teams for similar phones 😞
Looks like a solid phone. If it had native Qi2 wirelss charging it would be an automatic buy. That's my biggest point in looking to upgrade from the S24 Ultra.
Mine arrives tomorrow- am now worried about the Google feed as I try to avoid the news. 😢 I'm also an avid Nova user, with the busiest screen you can possibly imagine. I'll report back with how I get on.
@10:45 there are many android phones copying dynamic island, or just a couple? (and one in the US?) Just making sure, good ideas should be copied/improved upon. I personally like OnePlus's version over iOS cause I prefer a small hole punch over a wide ass landing strip.
everyone but me seems to be getting amazing SOT's in this phone. Do you charge to 100 and discharge to 10-15 percent? i just got this phone 2 days ago so maybe with time it will get better? i charge till 80 and drain till 15, so not sure if this is the reason for my low SOT.. should probably try it with 100 percent battery once to get an idea. I dont game or do heavy things, media consumption and messaging is essentially it. Any tips and guides about this would be great.
great video, do i buy yes or no? I come from samsung a55 that broke by falling of 10 story building, it stil works but the screen is exploded but u stil feel the vibration
I returned my oneplus 13 as the customisation on oxygen sucks..... You cant even disable the google feed on homescreen Nova launcher works well with oneui as their gesture interface has an open sources api unlike oxygen os
I asked around but haven't really gotten an answer. Since oneplus sends out updates pretty much bi monthly, and since oneplus are known to not give Timely updates, should this be a concern? And also how secure is the OnePlus devices ? having timely updates and a top security on a phone is important to me . Id be willing to try one plus, but anyone other suggestions on phones that have great security, updates and longevity would be helpful thanks

you should stop using a launcher imo. The default launchers are way better now and 3rd party launchers also got some goofy ahh animations.
Find me a stock launcher that is "Niagra launcher". I'll wait.
For the Google page if you disable the Google app in settings it will get rid of it. Definitely not ideal, but there is a way around it lol

VIdeo footage is stuttering is because footage is only in Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and as far as I know, you can't disable it.
Solution is to use something like ffmpeg to transcode it into a constant refresh rate
