  • I need to start my backswing earlier, stay down with the shot, and cross over step 3. Lots to work on!

    Very good video I've never thought about keeping my index finger down pointed to the floor I would just throw it, I will keep that in mind tonight when I bowl in my league

    amazing video, you would think these guys are ripping the cover off the ball and it's only a quarter turn thats creating all that hook. Best video ever to explain what exactly is going on. Thanks so much!

    I have only had coaching once but I do the same release now. I have only been bowling for 3 years and not very accurate yet. Just got back from ACL surgery been bowling with that injury the whole time. Hopefully I can get my game in the 200 average one day. Great video and good coaching sir.

    Good video. I've tried finding a video on how to throw a fingertipball, because I use conventional holes. I am decent with conventional, but I wanted to go fingertip, and am having a hard time getting used to it. But seeing this video kind of gives me a strategy. Thanks for posting.

    I used to also wear a baseball cap when I practiced and tried to hit the bill of it with my follow through, that would cause me to come straight through the ball instead of around it (like the end of the video)... that will apply power and leverage to your shots instead of just spinning it down the lane... The more you can come through the ball with only your fingers in it, the more revs and power you will get, that why to cock the wrist and pointing the index finger down... that's why the thumbless bowlers rev it so much

  • @nvofevery1
    @nvofevery1  11 років тому +2

    They didn't teach me that, that's how I've always bowled. For me it's all about balance and staying through the shot.

    Guys and Gals, I would listen to Del Warren. What the pros do with the bowling ball is what creates area on the toughest patterns in the world. The difference between us and them.

  • @ddeboy002
    @ddeboy002 5 років тому +1

    Had same problem to get revs. Focused on downswing mostly. Look for a slightly bent or flexed elbow (not straight arm). I develop this at top of the swing. Just let the ball fall a little after it reaches the top of the swing. It worked wonders for me. Relax that shoulder at release and unload elbow and wrist at ankle.
    It's all about timing.

    No joke, I taught mtself Rash's release style back in the mid 90's, the index finger pointing to the floor, the cocked wrist, uncocking it like he is, it's all the same... you have to have a strong wrist and forearm to do it right.... if not you can strain/pop a wrist tendon... I increased my revs a lot... I'm left handed and had ave's around 220-225 when I quit bowling in 2002

    For anyone watching this video for the first time, watch what happens with the starting board for his left foot and where the left foot lands up at the fowl line. He moves at least 5 boards to the right which is NOT what you want to be doing for a right hander. The swing instead of coming down from the top through the swing slot has to go around the left leg as the arm/ball approaches the left leg. It is always better for a right hander to drift a few boards left if they are going to drift than moving right a number of boards. Been proven many times. This creates a bit of a figure 8 which is ok if it doesn't get out of control.

  • @Muggel65
    @Muggel65 8 років тому +2

    He should do the 3-step drill. When the ball passes the right leg he should start moving his left leg. That improves your timing

    Fun fact that "kegel" means cone or pin in Dutch and "kegelen" is nine-pin bowling. In German it is "Kegel/Kegeln".

    I don't understand, aren't you supposed to use your fingers to make the ball spin counterclockwise? If not, how do you use your wrist to make revs?

    Interesting. I would be interested in seeing an evaluation of players like Pete Weber and Norm Duke. I think they generate revolutions in a different way it would be cool to see how the newer players do it vs. the older generation (of which I am a part of).

    • @bernardlapp9375
      @bernardlapp9375 10 років тому +1

      An interesting question. I'd say Weber has a lot of cupped-wrist during the swing but then comes around the ball with his hand more than these guys. Duke keeps the wrist straighter through most of the swing and so doesn't have much to "uncock" - but revs were never a huge part of his game, right?
      But anyway, as an older guy, I agree it would be great to see this kind of analysis of the previous-generation bowlers.

    ...unload the wrist! ...tougher to do when bowler rears up into the finish.

    i feel so relieved. 11:15 1he's literally letting the ball roll off his fingers onto the lane, vs throwing it on the lane like i think i have to do SMH @ myself but I'm ecstatic that i see a correction to that flaw.

  • @Muggel65

    Hmm watch all the pba pros. The timing is bad. The third second step too short, his third step goes to the right instead of in front of the last. He is drifting to the right in total. It's hard to stay behind the ball the way he plays

    • @kmrazordesigns2105
      @kmrazordesigns2105 7 років тому

      Max Sy i probably learnt it the worst way possible. over cupping and cocking my wrist using a lot of pressure. over time loosened up but because i learned like that i can manipulate my wrist at the bottom of my swing really easily. never even considered using thumb pitches

    • @lancelottheknight7126
      @lancelottheknight7126 7 років тому

    • @kmrazordesigns2105
      @kmrazordesigns2105 7 років тому

      Max Sy i used to break my wrist a lot at release as i was really chasing high revs. i cared more about having higher revs than my mates for a while. don't think my wrist goes past straight now on release.

    i feel like this guy sucks at coaching. He is pretty much uising a pros release and telling them to throughit like that. instead of fine tuning these guys already developed motion. We all cant be high rev players, i feel that is a huge miss conception in bowling today. Its all about power and rev's not about accuracy and shot making

      This guy sucks at coaching? This is the coach for the Webber International Women's college bowling team who dominates year in and year out and won a national title 3 years ago. I think he knows what he is talking about.

      No matter what sport you're practicing, you need to see and know how the pros do the work properly. Otherwise, you'd just be polishing a turd, instead of trying to get closer to being perfect.
