It's funny how this isn't even a hobby of mine - I watch your channel because I love your presentation and I like the tips for the modeling I might eventually do when I have the space. But this car is gorgeous, both the base model and the restoration job you did. This would be one worth owning for me just to have.
It does look like a relaxing hobby.
Relaxing and takes time .-.
Me too
i watch a lot of restoration videos from these old toy cars to furniture/appliances to fine art. i have no particular desire to do it myself, but i'm entertained by them for some reason.
I just think its very satifying seeing the progress and then the comparison
Not only are your final restorations amazing , but your knowledge on chemicals and proper tools needed is what really impressed me .
We accidentally found these videos about 2 weeks ago and now we can’t stop watching them! Forget the yard work. Forget the home work! Forget our own channel! We are obsessed. Nice work!!!
Ok. You've made up my mind. I've decided to raid the very innards of my attic to retrieve my old Matchbox, Corgi and Majorette cars.
I understand that! we have been digging old cars out of bins and storage boxes for weeks.
Great job as always on the restoration. 58-60 birds never get much love, but you turned this one into a classic that anyone would appreciate. Thumbs up and thanks for all your restoration tips.
Sorry about those "obvious comments" on the acrylic rolling pin 😉... All in good fun.
One of the best examples of a restored miniature car, mate. No apologies necessary. Beautiful. What a shame that the manufacturer wanted to cut costs with a cheap plastic interior, as if it would have been more difficult to make a normal plastic die cast interior.
The black paint is fantastic. Can’t wait to see that purple flake in use. Great video!
This is a magnificent restoration. Your comments and explanations are very entlightening.
Little toy works are truly gems.
Really nice job, thanks for the video. I always preferred Corgi toys to Dinky or Matchbox when I was a kid. I seem to remember owning this model in the sixties - happy dayz!
Man, what an extensive restoration, one day I wanna go ahead and do something like this, but i need to set up my own table and paint booth. love watching your restos.
You never cease to impress me with the restorations you carry out in your videos!
The paint job came out great. It almost seems to have purplish tint but could be my screen. Molding the tires was a brilliant idea and looked as though they cast nicely. I have never seen a Cory of that scale before. The casting details look very precise. You brought the windshield back better than expected as I'm sure it's an unobtainium piece for sure. As always thanks very much for sharing your expert remanufacturing process.
A masterpiece! You are an artisan of the zamak canvas!
Great job fella. Liking the urethane paint and the very subtle detailing which really enhance what for Corgi was quite a primitive casting transitioning from early models into the heyday years of the 60's and early 70's.
I love the design of the 59 Thunderbird its got great lines, you did a real good job on the resto I might steal your idea of casting new tires it works really well.
Hello there. The convertible version of this car had a diecast interior, the interior on your later version was vacuum formed that was state of the art at the time, until toy manufacturers started to produce modeled plastic version that we are more used to today.
You've done an excellent restoration on this model. I did an original teal version of the model to which I added an interior that I found in my box of tat along with the Matchbox version which I painted gold with a silver roof, looks so much better than the original colours. Keep up the good work.
Dinky were still using this form vacuum modeling right up to until the factory closed on the Bedford CF van, the Leyland coach and both the Routemaster and Atlantean double decker buses. Both the van and coach also had tin bases and I always thought these were a retrograde step backwards, the van in particular was rubbish.
Excellent restoration! It looks brand new. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
Excellent Vlog - I'm impressed by the fact that you were able to make spare tyres - never seen that before. I believe I had the same vehicle back in 63 in England. So I was delighted to see this pit stop upgrade - I guess that's why I subscribed. 👍
Wow man. That's a beauty. I'm a huge fan, but I take note of a new approach or product you use. You are an artisan sir. I like your art
What a car! And what a restoration as well!
Patience is a word that comes to mind after watching the detail of the restoration. Saving this toy is wonderful and will be appreciated by the next generation of car nuts like me. I was around for the 58TBird's intro in 58 I was 8 years old. So now that you know my age you can see I lived through the greatest era of cars ever made the 1950s & 60s BTW I owned a 58, 60, 64, 68 & a 77 TBird. I am currently looking for a good deal on a 2002-2005 TBird.
long live the UA-cam algorithm. but really good work. I played also with them when I was a child and they looked also like this afterwards.
Lovely job. I still have mine from new as a kid, repainted and pretty bashed up as most of my cars became stock car racers. I seem to remember it was originally brown with the red top.I also had the soft top ( a kind of moulded fringed canopy) version as Hawiian taxi, but that is long gone.
I meant to add - the taxi version had a removable driver so it had to have a full interior too.
Love to see the larger scale restorations. So much more detail to work with. Your artistry really shines.
Nice! You restored 1 of my favorite cars!!
That's a beautiful restoration, if you ever get a convertible version of that TBIRD , maybe you can do a tribute to Elviras car (Elvira Mistress of the Dark) 👍😉
Oh yes i want to see that happen in the future it going to be fun project for baremetalHW if he find t brid convertible and nice video there for doing a bigger scale diecast witch is good change of pace for you my friend.
That's a great idea!
Thanks for the genuine article.
I'm seeing a lot of fake restoration videos these days.
This was great to watch. I would have liked to see how you reattached the chassis to the body. I had this toy as a boy and loved it. I grew up to own a 1960 award winner.
F1 season starting soon. Perfect time to celebrate it by restoring a F1 car. 😉 Fantasy livery would be cool too.
Great tips and tricks. What a restoration!
That's a very nice "rolling pin" Zac ; D
That came out great! Super veal job. Great tip about that blue stuff mold.
I didn't think this would be as good as it actually was. Good job on the car and the video as well.
I love this bigger scale restoration
That came out great! Super veal job. Great tip about that blue stuff mold.
When I was a kid, getting a Corgi was a big deal. They cost a dollar or more when Hot Wheels were about 29¢. As an adult, I bought my young son a M48 Patton Corgi. I said, "look son its a Corgi, so take car of it". He said, "I thought it was a tank".
Fourteen years later, it sits above my computer and in great shape.
You always do the best restorations
You are a great teacher! Gary
I would HIGHLY recommend that when doing ANYTHING that creates metal shavings, you wear some type of gloves (these days, there are some really good disposable rubber gloves designed for mechanics.)
You REALLY don’t want to miss a small shaving on one of your fingers and get it in your eye.
This is pure art. Kudos, Sir.
Was wondering when you were going to post a new video.....and I wasn't disappointed! Great Video. Loved the resin tires, such a cool fix. Awesome restoration sir. Keep up the great work!
I actually "Wow"d out loud when I saw the reveal. SO well done mate. One of your best. Truly amazing, thanks.
Definitely worthy of the Marty's wife's toothbrush award for outstanding restoration. Really liked the practical demo of the tire casting
Nick Radell haha! That so needs to be a thing! “The Pink Toothbrush Awards!”
I'm happy with that
Two tone paint looks great👍👍
Man, that was a fantastic result. Great casting job on the tires. Love the technique.
Very thorough update as usual
Looks great in red and black
WOW - 10/10 You got an A+ on this project! Good job.
That turned out very nice. Great work!
I think you did an amazing job on this one
Absolutely gorgeous
A simple o-ring works fine for the tires!
Cool to see a Corgi restoration. I believe made in Wales. I have some larger scale cars that maybe I should consider restoring
You should!! lots of fun!!
You did a beautiful job! Wow! 😀
That came out great! I wish I was 1:43 scale so I could drive that thing
You did an awesome job ! Car looks great !
Haha I was just on your main page today trying to figure out where you went. Guess the Mad Max vehicle is creating some havoc lol. Thanks for the amazing vids.
My real job can keep me busy some times.
@@baremetalHW well thank you for the videos that you do post. The quality of the videos are amazing and even your fails are successful tools for diving into this world.
Really digging that rolling pin 😂 "in spite of the obvious comments I'll get" snuck an adult joke in there 😂
For the plastic models we use oxitol to strip paint. I suppose with die cast you can use more aggressive strip products.
Beautifully and lovingly restored : )
Brillant!
Maybe an idea: using the mold to create two tyres at the same time, it would save you some material, but it would be harder for the material to fill the open area
That Black Paint man, It looks Awesome dude!
One of the best restos iv seen, looks awesome. I’d love to see you restore a corgi bat mobile. Cheers from down under
For the interior you should have tried saloncare 40 to brighten it up some.
Saloncare 40 is great for whitening things that have aged yellow by allying it on by brush then wrapping it with clear Saran Wrap and leaving it out in the sun or under a uv light. A bottle costs around 4-6 dollars for 20oz and goes a long way. Hopefully the tip helps.
Very good presentation (as someone else commented first), car looks great.
Awesome restoration. Great job!
Wow looks really Great!
Looks fantastic, loved the moulding part, it’s nice to see some different techniques being used. It would be nice to see some of the metal flake paint being used on the larger scale cars, when the small cars use it I always think that the flake size is too big, on the larger scales it would probably look awesome. 😊
Really like this car, you did a great job with the restoration.
Love it, definitely going to take some tips and use it to replace a missing wing mirror for a Hotwheels Elite Heritage DB5
Very very good, congratulations.
Amazing finish!
Man I would drive that and drive it proud. Nice work.
OMG, just how tall are you?
@@dalemoskalyk1227 LOL Dale, then this is the car for you! Cheers.
@Steve Jarvis You have no sence of humor.
Turned out very nice.
Great restoration - good skills. 👍
As always, beautiful work! Very resourceful on the wheels.
That's Amazing!!! Great Job!!!
Beautiful work!!!
That's my favorite car
The 1950s cars are my favorite
Aircraft removal paint? Cool!!!!!😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
My dad had one of those Thunderbird s when I was a youngin it seems the real car had a lower to the ground and sleeker look than that model represents.
Looks great!! Perfection.
Love it turned out fantastic
Beautiful as always!! Wheels look great also!! 😀
Nice job I would have done all four wheels, I really love how you made them!
Who gives a thumbs down. Great job as always.
I think it turned out pretty good
Very nice restoration. Seems like it's been a while since your last video with the 3 corvettes. I always look forward to your next project!
I call those long hoses on the end of pipettes 'snouts'. I use them to feed the bats that get stuck in my fireplace a little sugar water before I set them free.
the car after you restored it looks like something the Old Man from Pawn Stars would have driven.
Another masterpiece!
Kind of makes you wonder how much the car would have cost to produce, considering Corgi cut corners when it came to the interior. Based on it's quality, it's odd that it even has a separately fitted steering wheel. Personally the interior plastic doesn't rank up there with the overall quality of the rest of the car. All I'll say on the rolling pin topic is that they sure have changed compared to the ones grandmother once hit you over the head with for sticking your fingers in the bowl of cookie dough.
I wonder if the wheel casting technique used can be also used to... well, make a sturdier interior?
Plow Bender Studios yrcorr
@Roman Trofymenko - I will reply to this in hopes he sees your good suggestion.
when you think about it corgi didn't cut corners , they actually gave more , until corgi diecasts had no interiors or windows and were just a lot of emptiness inside
One of your best mate. Stevo
1:28 am idk how this got to me but i love it
You should try a Corgi Major truck for your next restoration. Look on ebay. They're challenging and impressive when completed.
Nice info on the blue stuff. Have to give it a try. I need to make an entirely new windscreen piece for a Corgi Ghia Chrysler. I've been using silicone caulk mixed with dish soap to make my molds but they don't work well for windscreens.
Great videos, keep making your great content!👍
Another great video. 👍
