@@Gamer-uf1kl I would look in the Game Genie book for codes that were all the same except for one or two symbols, then put different symbols in. I remember in Mario 3 you could modify permanent powerup codes in this way to become a strange and powerful glitch man.
heheh, I have always thought the "normal" mushrooms did more than just make Mario grow bigger! in several of his games they are reminiscent of the fly agaric, which is hallucinogenic... AND highly poisonous!
Once while I was a kid, I learned that one can connect two Game Genies together and use 6 lines instead of 3. Also I too spent 2 whole days straight finding codes. If you add 3 characters and then end it with an "OKK" "OIK" or "OOK", you'll get an effect almost every time.
Man, I have the one for the Sega Genesis, and let me tell you, I have made some fun ones. Well, only having to do with graphics since I suck at the ones that work with mechanics.
I saw your video about the different Super Mario Bros hacks on the Nintendo cartridge and I loved it. I shared it to a Facebook group called Video Game Fans. Hopefully you'll get more subscribers
I saw this video in 5th/6th grade. I loved it and I still do. I can't believe me and this video bumped into each other once again. I'm in high school. This video brings so much nostalgia for me
you can literally make your own codes? You're not limited to the ones Game Genie provides you? If I had known you could do that sort of stuff with Game Genie, I might've wanted one back in the day XD
***** never liked the idea of cheating my way through a game as a kid (guess I overthought it XD) but I probably would've liked the idea of messing around with it just to see what would happen
Dragonrider1227 Making your own codes requires using things that are similar to prefixes an suffixes on words. you can take the start of one code (First 3 letters) and take the end of another (last 3 letters) and you get sort of a combination of the codes depending on how you've arranged them
@kwvtads I honestly can't remember which codes I found online and which I made up during the making of this video, so I'm not claiming any of them as my own. If you really were the creator of those codes then congrats on coming up with some really awesome codes! :)
SVLIVO was part of a 3 part code from Game Genie where you always stay big. This was the functional part of the code in that your status never decreases. if 0=small 1=big 2=fire power then, unless you fall in a pit for instant death, you never decrement down to 0. Another part of the code always kept your sprite size increased or your color pallet changed... but if you don't care about those you could be small fire mario and morph into super fire mario to shoot a fireball and back down to small mario. That plus NAPSIN and I dunno how you could lose unless you tried. Also, if you get hit a 2nd time your sprite resizes to big.
Oh man, making up and testing out new oddball Game Genie codes was the height of Nintendodom for me - as a kid, reading the original GG manual, the notion that I could "create my OWN codes" fuckin' blew my 7 year old mind clear to Sedna and back! And I had TONS of both mainstream and some weird, offbeat titles (I was lucky to live in a family where everyone, from older siblings to cousins to even my dad and uncle, played on and bought carts for the NES. So between 6 gamers, we amassed an impressive collection for the time) that at the time were largely unheard of by most kids my age. Making crazy GG codes for some of these games was the catalyst that introduced me to the world of programming. One of my favorite games to GG for was Solar Jetman (a game my dad got for himself) - even though it had its own entry in the codebook, the game was so balls-out hard due to the gravity physics. But it was SOOOO much fun to see what it was possible to make the gravity physics do in the game engine. :D
Seriously? To the users complaining about the GAYSUK code: it's just a code! I can't speak for the code's creator, but I'm fairly certain that the code's creator didn't make it just to slander homosexuality or whatever. Having seen many codes and experimented with codes for at least ten years now, I've seen all sorts of bad words and phrases. It's not international. So, in closing: think twice before assuming. It makes 'u' an 'ass'.

PENSIL - chomper plants float out of their pipes.
KOOLAI - when mario walks he is in his running animation and when he runs, he slides.
GXGTLX - enemies and powerups do wierd things sometimes.
PAAYNO - groovy version of the music.
GENNLY - screws up the music and sometimes takes you to duck hunt with screwed up graphics at the end of world 1-1.
OZXIVY - when you enter a warp zone pipe, mario will be teleported back to world 1-1.
ESGAIK - similar if not the same as SUKAIK or SUKDIK
PVPELE - game boy yellowish green monochrome.
VEPELA - light purple monochrome.
ONPELA - dark grey monochrome.
SNPELA - light grey monochrome.
EKPELE - dark purple monochrome.
APPLES - freezes the game when you hit a ? block.
i only tried these on the super mario bros\duck hunt cart.
also i tried your GAYSUK code. i could indeed run in the air, but at the end of 1-1, when mario finished sliding down the flagpole, he just kind of slowly inched his way to the castle but never dropped down to the ground. i couldn't go on to the next level.

OGPEAT Darkens the background (doesn't affect the water levels). It also prevents Mario's palette from changing when he gets a fire flower
