Well done, guys! The Deben is indeed a lovely river - I often sail 'Dragon' ( a 1965 gunter-rigged Westerly 22) from Woodbridge at high tide down the river on the ebb, lunch at anchor off Felixstowe Ferry, and then back up the river on the flood to my mooring, and whatever the weather, it's always great to be on the water! You might have sailed past the Dragon - he is generally moored opposite the tide mill and he has a green dragon head on the prow!

A nice trip ... Would have been GOOD PRACTICE and an example from your buddy wearing a PFD ... Unfortunately so many idiots on the water doing the same 😢 with their Paddle Boards & Kayak etc ...

Ah yes, fear not - he always does normally! (See my other videos.) It was only on this trip, once we'd got the boat in the water, that he realised his wasn't in the back of the car, but an hour-and-a-half's drive away. 🙂

Looked a great day. Is that a public or private slipway, are there charges? Is there reasonable parking available. Cheers

Hi Phil - the slipway is managed by the East Suffolk Water Ski Club, and though, in theory, they charge for launching, in practice they didn't bother for small hand-launched dinghies like ours. I think the charges (which are still very reasonable) are intended more for visiting speedboats launched by car. But you can find more info at eswsc.co.uk/launching/ .
Parking is a bit more of a challenge: there's a pay-and-display right next door, but it doesn't take trailers, so if your situation is like ours, you have to find something to do with it. There are a limited number of places nearby where you can reasonably put them, and we had no trouble but we were there quite early on a Sunday morning.
Just next door to the slipway we used, behind Winkles cafe, is another slipway, where I think they have parking space too, but I don't know who owns it or whether visitors can use it. It might belong to Felixstowe Ferry Boat Yard...

The Tideway is a braugh little boat. Wish there was a dealer in the U.S.A. Are there tents available for sleeping aboard?

I don't think there are any official ones, but have a look at John Coe's lovely camping setup in my video here: ua-cam.com/video/0sk2cBjg4bQ/v-deo.html . One person can sleep in the 12ft Tideway nicely, but most people think it's a bit cramped for two, and we certainly haven't tried two people plus a spaniel!
