Idyllwild MTB Trails: Project X & Lower Tubs (11.14.20)

The gang did a shuttle run in the Idyllwild MTB trails. Parked 1 car on a dirt lot off highway 74. Then drove trucks with the bikes up the mountain (30 min) drive to highway 243 where we parked in the town of Pine Cove close to the Pine Cove Gas & Market. Entrance to the trail is off Marion Ridge Dr.
Project X is a fun Blue/Black Diamond trail.
Then you follow the fire roads to the Hub (Trailhead parking), which is halfway to the bottom of the mountain.
Lower Tubs is a slow, stop, ride and walk your bike trail. To me, it was not fun or worth trying. Too many deep rocky ruts and large rocks.
Hellrazor is a Double Black Diamond trail. We only did half of the trail as we ran out of time and some of us had to get back home. So we rode the last half down the Idyllwild Control Rd (Fire-road). Fun downhill which you will catch a lot of speed. Be careful as sometimes trucks and Jeep’s ride up the road.
