  • A moderate walk, free parking at Eden Mill Farm Shop G63 9AX Carbeth. Taking in part of the John Muir Way.
Approximately 9.5 miles round trip. The last section can be a wee bit squishy, so good boots needed, probably best done after a dry spell or a hard frosted.
By far the least busiest, most scenic and most tranquil route up The Duncolm. With the added advantage of a cuppa or something to eat at The Eden Mill Farm Shop after your hike.

Duncolm (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Choluim) is a hill in Scotland. It is the highest point in both West Dunbartonshire and the Kilpatrick Hills, at an elevation of 401 metres (1,316 ft). Its name means "Fort of Columba".
One of Duncolm’s major draws is its feeling of wilderness, despite being so close to Scotland’s largest city. It’s fairly easy to access and the terrain can be boggy and steep at the summit, but still very achievable by most.
An ancient volcanic plug within the central Kilpatrick Hills with range of moorland habitats and spectacular views.
Upland Heathland, Fen, Blanket Bog. Mosaic of moorland habitats including dry and wet upland heath, fragments of modified blanket bog, and acid grassland.
