    Trena, very entertaining video. I must say that this is the first time in my 40 years of woodworking that I've ever seen anyone use a hand plane and a chisel wearing red nail polish.😃

      I’m just getting around to viewing this video and your comment was the first one I saw. Made me laugh here in Southeast Georgia. I have ruined many manicures by not wearing gloves.

    I think at some point, this was used as an umbrella 🌂 and or cane 🦯 box.

    Taking things apart can be risky. You can cause more harm than good in some cases. So, judgement needs to be exercised. But, as a general rule, I'm with you on taking things completely apart when possible. You can do a much better repair that way.

    Watching you return this box to its former beauty is a testament to the quality work you do. I especially enjoyed seeing you renew the sides. The removal of the marks was amazing. I am never disappointed watching you perform your magic!

    i love the waste collection basket. iconic piece of its time. it could be made for todays needs in the home office. but with basket weave or leather stamped panels. excellent work reviving this beauty.

    I'm blown away by your attention to detail. You're not only a craftswoman, but an artist. I've seen another video of you 'retouching' a painting on a clock. You're work just amazes me!     The before-and-after shots at the end of your videos are always amazing. By the finish of a video I seem to always forget how beat-up the piece was when you first showed it, so revisiting the "before" makes for an "oh my gawd..." contrast at the end. 😄

    This restoration is glorious. The colors on the linen are extraordinary. I can just imagine it next to an old rolltop desk as the afternoon sun pours into the windows. BAM! Eye candy. Thank you!

    Lovely item. I think it will be good as a planter, and I also liked the idea of umbrellas… too pretty for trash.

    I would advise the client to have a removable galvanized tray fitted to the inside of the piece. This would protect the wood if being used as a planter or umbrella stand.

    Many things about this video that I enjoyed but the best was when you said that you would use a "few" clamps and then watched you use many. One of my favorite tools is a block plane so I smiled as you used one.

    If it had a metal or plastic tray in the bottom, Id say it started out as an umbrella stand. Its very pretty and has lots of possibilities. I know you will do a fantastic restoration!

      It’s a temp dye. It last like 2 weeks. Do it. It’s fun. I did it for a party

    As always, brilliant work. Disappointing it wasn't leather😢. I agree with the owner, a plant holder is a far better use than a waste paper bin.

    Would've thought that a trash can could be such a classy object? Really, really nice piece and more than just restored. I think brought back to respect for it's age and history, would be good.
    Really, the same kind of attention in this humble object, that usually just sits in the corner and literally collects trash, as some noble clock or chest of drawers. You do fine work, Trena.

    Beautiful result, as always, making this the best looking waste basket ever. If I were the owner of this, I would not use it as a plant stand or a waste basket -- at most a recycle-paper container.

    I have never seen such a fancy trash can! So glad you were able to get it back to beautiful once again. I think such a fine piece as this should have a more worthy use than for trash. Great job!
