I know these Phenom flight videos aren’t new but I keep coming back and watching them because in my opinion they’re some of the best on UA-cam! Great examples of good piloting and great cockpit footage.
I just found your page a few days ago thanks to a shout out from Premier1Driver on his last video and I'm glad he mentioned you. I've been catching up on your videos and have to say I absolutely love the way you explain what's going on with the use of the on screen overlays. What a beautiful and informative flight. Thanks for taking the time to film and post.
Thanks John. I’m using the Nflight Cam GoPro audio cable. When I’m editing I use Final Cut Pro to “enhance” the audio which removes a lot of the background hum/hiss.
Informative video as usual, Jesse, thanks! As a turboprop pilot limited to FL280 there's sometimes just no substitute for altitude in finding holes. Jealous! :)
Fantastic view on pilot planning with those major storms around. Very beautiful to look at but you don’t want to be anywhere near them! It shows that with the single pilot certified jets, the work load can creep up on you and if your not paying attention you could “fall behind” the aircraft, especially when focusing on avoiding the weather. Great seeing you stay on top of the situation.
An excellent demonstration on how pilots should NOT rely on XM wx to deviate around cb's. Tilt and range are your best real time wx radar tools. Adjust the gain only in areas of monsoon type conditions.
Never relied on XM but used it in the decision making process. How many hours in the Phenom do you have? Have you flown behind the low powered weather radar they have installed? The gain is the most beneficial setting because auto or calibrated sucks. You’re only seeing 1/3 of the picture and maybe 50NM ahead. Adjusting gain only in monsoon conditions? What about at high altitude where the returns aren’t showing up because it’s frozen? Gain is your friend, friend.
@@IllFlyIt just retired after 38 years, started before color, using the black and white (green) radar.,777,744,767,757,727,737,L1011,DC8, typed. In Asia monsoons, gain is reduced to paint only the heavy stuff. At altitude, tilt down to paint the water, and even if you top it, go around the big stuff. Use a long range and tilt to paint ground returns at the top of the screen, any cell will 'walk' back to you - which is basically what you did. Look at AF447, they made the mistake of overlying a huge line, LH had previously deviated. Safe flying.
Excellent all the way around. Nice job as always and thank you. My company is an aircraft parts supplier. AirShare is one of our best customers. I work with the DOMs and parts departments at KAAO and KMKC. Very nice people to deal with. BTW, just to be an "A Hole", at 3:37 Wichita only has one H. Lol! Couldn't resist. Please keep up the excellent work. Blue Skies!
Just found your channel and really enjoyed bringing us along on the importance of flying around weather. Not a pilot, but love everything around planes and flying. Got me hooked.
Nice job avoiding the potential bad weather. With thunderstorms in the area, I am sure you have to be very diligent in watching the weather radar. Another successful flight by JesseFlies! Love your videos expecially the RNAV approach into Aspen which was executed to perfection!
JF, nice flying and great commentary. That weather radar is a thing of beauty. Do you have to set the gain or does it default to auto calibrate or something? Nice to see more lite jet videos with new pilots and brands of aircraft. You,re headed for the aviation Oscars. Guess I should say along with P1D since he doesn't miss much.
I couldn't see the tilt and range settings on your radar...looked like 1 degree up at about 40 nm range? And it looks like you have the option to toggle between onboard radar and NEXRAD. I like that.
Great Video Jesse, Thank You for sharing the adventure in those beautiful clouds. One thing is for sure, I would not be able to fly in those clouds in a P28-181:).
I would’ve loved to been on this site Jessie. I just like seeing those puffy clouds. No they’re not too much fun to fly in. But still still add to the experience
Another cool video, to answer your question about not being given a clearance void time you could be right about being able to contact you via the radios but also I want to guess that because he gave you and assigned heading of 270 he could've been using that as divergence separation which is allowed in some instances.
Can you fly a speed, like select IAS mode on the auto pilot? is that available? If so, why didn't you use this feature? Thank you very much and congrats on the great vid! And on the impecable flying skills!
Enjoyed the video and subscribed. I used to live and fly in Wichita and the storms do build fast! Do you know who has the turbo callsign? Could it be the tankers out of McConnell?
Nice video! At the beginning when you were driving , were those clouds you filmed part of the storm system that you were avoiding during flight? Just curious.
Our before takeoff checklist has two parts to it separated by a bold line. We complete above the line prior to entering the runway. Once cleared onto the runway we complete the below the line items. Thanks for the question!
I love your videos but wish you can put a camera which will clearly show the Flight Displays; primary and multifunctional. Beyond that, these videos are a really great learning experience.
Question about your deviations-somewhere between your turn to 190 and that waypoint in your plan you were trying to get to (Faunt, vaunt, something like that) I think you got a clearance to deviate left and right as needed. If I am correct, how far left and right can you deviate in a clearance like that, i.e. is there a limit of like 30 degrees each way for example?
There isn’t a limit on how far you’d be allowed to deviate with that clearance. If it was going to be 30° or more I’d advise ATC just to keep them aware. They’ll amend your deviation if traffic separation becomes an issue.
Yeah RadarScope. 10 dollars a year iirc. I’ve had it for a little over two years. It’s the pro version and it gives real time NOAA radar access to all products. Very advanced and informative. Not just third party rendering based on datasets from radar sources. Actual accurate feed access from the radar directly. It’s a professional product IOW. Real time lightening strikes, warnings, storm tracks and more. I love it. It is so accurate that if they report 1” rain in a certain area, the proper accumulation product will say 1”. If the wind is 30 mph, it will coincide with the wind reports at nearby airports (velocity product).
Alex , Radarscope is a true 'radar' app... not an image representation but real data and usually VERY current (2 min) and shows all the hi-res Doppler data (velocity, dual-polarity, rainfall total estimates, tops, VIL, etc). The "Pro" is a seperate 1-year subscription which includes lightning, long loops of data-frames, etc. We use it Flying and also for Storm-Chasing... It integrates with the Spotter-Network for reports on the fly from SN and mPing and shows Spotter locations as well. It's a great app for flying and looks best on a tablet. ;)
pandeliriumstudio Yes, it’s truly one of my favorite apps. You really need the 10 dollar a year subscription to reap all the benefits. I think that’s a bargain for sure.
I cant really say. I'm always using the tilt and gain adjustments to get a complete picture. The GAIN is useful to help locate the weakest part of a line of weather. At high altitudes, most precipitation is frozen and does not show up on weather radar. Turning the GAIN up to max will help show frozen precipitation including hail. Comparing what the radar paints, what my eyes see, and what XM is showing is how I decided to go up and over the line where I did. A big thing to remember with XM is the radar data that you get is a composite from multiple stations blended together. It is also the lowest tilt (bottom of the storm). A storm that is 8 miles tall can lean 5+ miles due to the winds aloft. This plus the delay makes XM less useful for short range decision making.
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to explain it. This is the biggest thing I'm trying to learn about right now. Do you know of any good manuals that explain how to use wx radar? I still haven't been able to find a good one. Hello from Canada and safe travels!
Jesse I noticed you fly a lot of Single - pilot IFR so I I'm required to fly as SIC with you can I log the hours with you as Muti -engine jet time and X country time over 50 nautical miles and count it towards my total hours?
Our SIC’s log the flight time because they are required for the operation. If i flew for a private owner and you rode with me I don’t think that would qualify for logged flight time. If I had my MEI I could sign it off as dual given but I wouldn’t.
How about that Plan A hole!?!? 😬
Your intention was good... lol..
Bpreeb y
That worked out great.
Awesome flying and always have a plan “A hole” 😅
First time viewer and low time rotorcraft PP here.
Awesome stuff! Entertaining and educational. Thank you.👍
Thanks a bunch. These were filmed a few years ago. I’m glad they’re still providing some entertainment value. I appreciate it
I know these Phenom flight videos aren’t new but I keep coming back and watching them because in my opinion they’re some of the best on UA-cam! Great examples of good piloting and great cockpit footage.
Thanks Colin! They were a bunch of fun to make. I’m glad they’re still being enjoyed 😊
I'm a meteorologist who is also an aviation geek! I'm 3 minutes into the video and am already enjoying your radar analysis!
Really good video and no music. I love following you through the procedures and communication. Very professional! 👍

I watch a lot of aviation videos and yours is right there. Your audio is as clear as any I’ve heard.

You are one of the most professional pilots I have had the pleasure to watch on these videos.
Thanks Mike! I appreciate the kind words.
Informative video as usual, Jesse, thanks! As a turboprop pilot limited to FL280 there's sometimes just no substitute for altitude in finding holes. Jealous! :)
Gotta love flying above or around the weather. Awe inspiring

Great videos - always enjoy the beautiful out of cockpit scenery and the in cockpit narrative

What's not to like here? Amazing views of those storms. Simply awesome video!
Hi Jesse - another great job! The insets of the PFD and MFD were a really nice addition.
indeed!
Agree!
That what I love about flying with you is that you are always a 100 miles ahead of your aircraft
Really liked the cam view from behind first officer position. That climb out was quick. Great video.
Just incredible visuals of the clouds in 4K. this video is incredible, thanks!
4K was an experiment for me and now I can’t go back to 1080. Videos like this really make 4K worth it. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video again and hats off to you for flying single pilot IFR in a jet. Thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks.
Excellent all the way around. Nice job as always and thank you. My company is an aircraft parts supplier. AirShare is one of our best customers. What a beautiful airplane! You're a lucky man great video!
It's great to watch you dodge and weave around the bad stuff.
Just found your channel and really enjoyed bringing us along on the importance of flying around weather. Not a pilot, but love everything around planes and flying. Got me hooked.
Got some stunning shots on that one, thanks for taking a minute to set up the cameras and bring us along!
What a beautiful flight! Again! Love your channel!
You sir are a true professional. Awesome vid.
Nice job avoiding the potential bad weather. With thunderstorms in the area, I am sure you have to be very diligent in watching the weather radar. Another successful flight by JesseFlies! Love your videos expecially the RNAV approach into Aspen which was executed to perfection!
Fantastic video Jesse. Information on the bottom of the screen is great. Best regards.
Awesome video, great narrative. Another super job! Thanks very much for sharing!
I really love your videos. I learn so much from you. Thank you.
Nice job on the TRW deviations SP in the E55P. New subscriber!
Nice shots of the weather, keep em coming sir.
Great to ride along with you again sir

Great pilot in a great plane !!!
Great video Jesse. I'm in Plano.
Thanks! Howdy neighbor ✋🏻
Great wx vid Jesse. Really appreciate the insets of the displays.
Love your professionalism. Thanks
I couldn't see the tilt and range settings on your radar...looked like 1 degree up at about 40 nm range? And it looks like you have the option to toggle between onboard radar and NEXRAD. I like that.
Great video Jesse, nice to have on board radar!!
One hell of a climb! Love it..
Excellent video production; great ride along.
I just discovered your channel. And I love it!!!!
Thanks! I’m no longer uploading because I’m not flying the Phenom anymore. Glad you enjoy the videos.
Great job Jesse 👍🏼
Very nice cloud shots thanks
Excellent video. Too bad no more recents but congrats on the new gig. What equipment do you fly ?
crazy weather but some beautiful footage!
Great Video Jesse, Thank You for sharing the adventure in those beautiful clouds. One thing is for sure, I would not be able to fly in those clouds in a P28-181:).
This is so cool, I live right there near Wichita in Hutchinson, been to Jabara a couple times. Wish I couldve seen you.
I love the PFD display
I would’ve loved to been on this site Jessie. I just like seeing those puffy clouds. No they’re not too much fun to fly in. But still still add to the experience

Great job flying
I'd hate to think one could be lulled away from that sys/mgmt. to ponder that dangerous beauty.
It’s a distraction and an exercise of Flight Discipline.
Im in a Beechjet at the moment...that Phenom looks sweet. Miss the TRs?
You are back!!!
Beautiful clouds
What programa or apps you use for weather
Great job, as always!
Maybe i missed it but I would have liked you talk through your techniques of use of gain, tilt etc to get a different perspectives.
Great video....this one on jet aviation....
Amazing views!
Great to see another video 😎👍👍👍
Nice video. (You like to cover that radar screen with your hand, don‘t you?) 😅
Nice video as always.
Can you fly a speed, like select IAS mode on the auto pilot? is that available? If so, why didn't you use this feature? Thank you very much and congrats on the great vid! And on the impecable flying skills!
Digging the checklist run with A Hole Plan...
Miss your ride a longs Jesse! Hope you're well. Have a great Memorial day weekend.
Great video, what weather app do you use?
Great flight good skills many thanks cheers
Enjoyed the video and subscribed. I used to live and fly in Wichita and the storms do build fast! Do you know who has the turbo callsign? Could it be the tankers out of McConnell?
Is your Glass a G1000 or G3000 system? It looks like a G1000?
Yep this is a G1000. The new Phenoms are all G3000 equipped.
The backlit clouds around 22:20 look great
Besides ForeFlight, which app did you use for weather radar?
Great video as always
Nice video! At the beginning when you were driving , were those clouds you filmed part of the storm system that you were avoiding during flight? Just curious.
surprised to see that radar display does not have any overlay, no nav, no course, no heading.
Did you set the minimums as a bug for 400' AGL? If so, I really like that idea.
Hi Jesse.
Min 5.50 in this video you stated " Take off above the line complete". What exactly does that mean? Kindly clarify. Cheers.
Our before takeoff checklist has two parts to it separated by a bold line. We complete above the line prior to entering the runway. Once cleared onto the runway we complete the below the line items. Thanks for the question!
what do you think about the handle bar yoke style ?
I love your videos but wish you can put a camera which will clearly show the Flight Displays; primary and multifunctional. Beyond that, these videos are a really great learning experience.
You did it. Fantastic, thanks much.
Good Job flying out of my home base KAAO - Jabara....

Again, just FAB!!!
What kind of plane is in the video?
You have a safe flight
which aircraft is it?
So cool.
20:15 is a gorgeous shot.
Looks like sincegle pilot piloting can be exhausting.
What wx app do you use on ur phone (not foreflight but the one at the start)?
The screen capture says RadarScope Pro at one point. I haven't checked my App Store yet though.
That is RadarScope. Should be in both Apple and Google app stores.

Next time u have a empty seat next to u ,can i tag along for a demo ?
What was that weather app used at the beginning?
It’s called Radar Scope
@@IllFlyIt I like the look of that one. Thanks:-)
It’s a great resource for sure.
What is that weather app you show on your cell?
It’s called Radar Scope

How does atc know your max flight ceiling when giving altitudes?
They usually don’t. Sometimes they’ll ask if your able to climb to a higher if they’re unsure.
Kinda sad that you didn't take us all the way to minimums. :-(
Lui Gomez yep I’ll second that ☝️ one. I do like the displays he puts on screen
