Excelente episodio. Lo mantuve en la memoria desde que lo vi por primera vez, cuando era niño, hace unos cuarenta años. Vic Morrow demostró ser, además de buen actor, un gran director.
I just love Kirby with that badassss BAR in cal. 30.06 Springfield. It was also Clyde Barrows favorite weapon, he had at least 7 in the back seat along with numerous shotguns, Tommy guns, and M1911A1 and Browning semi auto pistols, when he and Bonnie were gunned down.

Excellent, as all of them were. Man, does it bring back memories of my fascination with the military and war, 1960's. Was there ever anything else?! There was a time when I thought soldiering and war was all there was!
The first few seconds when a flare goes off is blinding to both sides, movement will give you away. That's why Saunder told his men to freeze when the first flare was fired. When Saunder put his arms out mocking the shape of dead tree for a second was a smart but dangerous move.
I wonder if the Combat writers knew their work almost 50 years later would only be available on something called UA-cam on something called the Internet . GR, Martyn and Various........thanks for posting.
True; and the corporate war profiters (military-industrial complex) is to blame for war. However, you've got to admit that Combat is a great show full of good actors and drama !
Two things..number one..when I was a kid my dad would watch this and another show. Every time it came on me and my siblings would dash to the legos and make toy guns to play with while we watched. So fun..a lot deeper than my mind as a kid realized of course. Number two..I know it's petty and picky. But I don't care! I was a radio operator for the short time I served. I took a lot of pride in being as good as I was. So when I see people use incorrect radio procedure I can't stand it. So..another reason to LOVE this show. Seems like nowadays nobody cares to do 5 mins of research.

@@kathymcmahon6582 When Vic was directing, as he did in this episode, this was the human factor he wanted Saunders to have in certain situations. Most of the other directors in the series wanted him to be a no-nonsense type which I believe Morrow did not want to do at times.
I'm so surprised seeing my comment from a year ago. After watching a couple of episodes of Rat Patrol today the first time I couldn't help but draw comparisons between the two shows. I was thinking specifically about Vic Morrow's imaginative performance in this episode, then I remembered he also directed it. What a shame we lost him before he was able to reach his potential as a director. I'm sure he would be pleased with the renewed interest in Combat. Thanks
Tina Tika That was Great research by the Writers and Director, Realism!! as long as we have Film we don't need to depend on the "New Shows" we can always play Back anything that we want!!!
@@davidsnyderWisdomTrollBlocker Mason was still there. Saunders was just trying to blend in with the silhouettes., which were obviously the trees. Another bit of technical gem from the series consultants, I suppose. In another episode it was about the difference between DC and AC current. Yet another was about artillery tactic. There was another about medical (the silent nun episode). These nuggets of info are also what makes this series so enjoyable to watch.
I KNOW he was still there....but still think he was more likely , imitating Masons hanging form on the tree ; then the tree silhouettes....reason being , the way that Saunders hung his arms looked; almost exactly how Masons arms were hung up on the tree...Whether he was attempting to be Mason or Tree branches; it was a brilliant tactic!
I really wonder where all these people are now. Maybe Vic, Rick, and all the guys from the squad, are watching us from above. Kirby (Jack Hogan) is the last one still alive. I wish I could meet him. Great series. Legendary.
My dad watched this show when he was a kid he still loves it says it still holds up. But he also said when saunders Thompson went off the ratings went up lol 😂
Great episode. Would you have tried to rescue Mason? Lazlo and Hacker tried but failed. They went too early -- should've waited until dark. But at least they tried . And what was funny was that Hacker didn't even like Mason. Shows the real comaraderie of a squad of men.

Thank you for uploading all these Combat! episodes - they originally aired when I was a young teen, and I knew I watched them, but don't remember having done so, so these are essentially new to me.
that was awesome,i still remember ive watched this in our friends house black bwhite too im a big fan of this series😘
probable the most intense episode of any series i have ever watched.from 1964 and now is the the year 2020 june 4,long live
Once again thank you. So appreciating the whole film. Thank you ☺️
.
Excelente episodio. Lo mantuve en la memoria desde que lo vi por primera vez, cuando era niño, hace unos cuarenta años. Vic Morrow demostró ser, además de buen actor, un gran director.
I just love Kirby with that badassss BAR in cal. 30.06 Springfield. It was also Clyde Barrows favorite weapon, he had at least 7 in the back seat along with numerous shotguns, Tommy guns, and M1911A1 and Browning semi auto pistols, when he and Bonnie were gunned down.
my childhood favorite! loved watching it again! thank you very much for uploading all combat episodes! vic morrow was great!
Vic morrow was a great actor I would love to see how he turned out rest in peace
man i love this war tv show....back in the Philippines my grade 2 years its a monster...and still a great show to watch ...thanks a lot...this episode indeed one of the best....awesome...great casts....vic morrows passing made us so sad he is popular in the Philippines.thank you very much once again...
The love they have for each other!!!!!!
Well said
A band of brothers!
He probably would have been safer crawling to the tree and then dropping flat when he heard the flare being fired.
Ty..I was wondering about that..you answered my question!
Thanks a lot! I love this series! Sorry... My English is so bad but Thank you for sharing
+Viviana Calabria Your English is fine.

@@Kylemathews1 was that remark really necessary or,are you just seeking attention?
Amazing stay on the edge of my seat go sanders love those guys.
I wonder if the Combat writers knew their work almost 50 years later would only be available on something called UA-cam on something called the Internet . GR, Martyn and Various........thanks for posting.
no, they didn't
Combate es por lejos la mejor serie de TV y no habrá otra igual los actores fueron 7nicos y no habrá quien supere su lugar fueron los mejores

Another outstanding episode! Thank you...
Watched it again. A very subdued and analytical Saunders. Basically with Vic directing, this is what he wanted the character to be.
No one wants to open ground in hostile territory like that Vic Morrow is the man baddest man of his time
End of story? He became Senator Mason, perfect personality for Politics.
that be a part two .
One of my dads favorite shows, a ww2 vet. He and i would watch every chance we got. Father and son time ,so good of memories.
So many moments in this episode. Just wow.
Best episode of the whole series!
I know there are several episodes, but Saunders's actions in this one win him a Congressional Medal of Honor.
And more he was a beautiful talented man. He was great!! Miss you Vic, may you RIP, my hero my love.❤💙🌹💙🌹💙🌹
I Loved Him as "Dad' to Everyone Else He Was "Vic" Carrie Morrow (1850 Outpost Dr, Hollywood, California 90068) Vic Morrow February 14 1929-23rd July 1982 *- R. I. P Brother Man Vic :( :( :( .. .
This was the best ending in the series. Saunders shows the side he always possessed but rarely showed. Morrow was Combat.
DEFINITELY 🙏👑❤️
@@kathymcmahon6582 When Vic was directing, as he did in this episode, this was the human factor he wanted Saunders to have in certain situations. Most of the other directors in the series wanted him to be a no-nonsense type which I believe Morrow did not want to do at times.
Love this one! Vic Morrow acting like a tree was priceless. Thanks
Thanks
Vic wasn't acting like a tree .... more likely he was making the Krauts confused: by imitating Mason hanging from that tree.
I thought the ending was Saunders saying 'We did it for humanity.' But now I know that's a different episode, a different mission.
vic morrow was a great director and the show was the best
I really wonder where all these people are now.
Maybe Vic, Rick, and all the guys from the squad, are watching us from above.
Kirby (Jack Hogan) is the last one still alive.
I wish I could meet him.
Great series. Legendary.
Love the Combat shows
My dad watched this show when he was a kid he still loves it says it still holds up. But he also said when saunders Thompson went off the ratings went up lol 😂
“I think we know why.”
This is a great human drama.
Great episode. Would you have tried to rescue Mason? Lazlo and Hacker tried but failed. They went too early -- should've waited until dark. But at least they tried . And what was funny was that Hacker didn't even like Mason. Shows the real comaraderie of a squad of men.
+Ronclown Therein lies the title.
Born in '59 I grew up without TV or phone. Leaving home in '77 I'd be free to watch all the TV I could, never develped the habit, never know about this show. Came across "Combat" one noc. 7/2012 on local TV at 0200.
Big WWII fan (especially true German military tactices, not insane SS) The German military really was a superior force (Eastern Front & Hitler were their down fall). Recoment reading "Soldat: Reflections of a German Soldier, 1936-1949" by Siegfried Knappe.
I Love everyones coments.
This show consistently got awards for cinematography. Check out that Daliesque landscape! Directed by Vic Morrow!
Great job Directing this episode Vic Morrow, this episode really got to me, it showed how important a human life is worth , this one really made me think
loved that line by Sarge, "don't baby him!"
Pointing a gun at the Sarge, that’s an automatic court-martial.
Make like a tree 🌳
Gotta love Vic!
When Caje puts on the beret, it’s over!
Esta serie foi a melhor criação sobre a 2a.guerra mundial nos anos 60/70 pela televisão, não perdia um capitulo...saudade das boas criações.
When Caje put his famous hat on you know it’s going to work out.
Rasberry beret...
@@bobmalack481 haha 😂
One of the best episodes ty 4 uploading
One of Combat's Top Ten
Notice that when Vic directed, it was a more sympathetic Saunders.
No, I that is not something I noticed. Explain, please?
