The Beatles refused to play a concert in 1964 at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida if the audience was segregated & they got their way.

"Good music has no color", amen to that. This was shot in London in about 1968 at the height of the Vietnam War, I remember singing this in the hospital in Japan with some shot-up teenage Marines, great song, London has always been a diverse place with many races, it was really black musicians like louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, all the greats of the jazz and swing era that brought the races closer together in America, just facts. Nice reaction, The Beatles learned harmony from listening to Everly Brothers records in the 50s, their harmony singing set them above other groups, and they could play any style of music.

This song was written by Paul McCartney for John Lennons young son, Julien Lennon. John & his wife were breaking up and Paul wrote it to help Julien with the stress and confusion dealing with that as a young kid. The title was going to be Hey Jules, short for Julien, but Jude just went better for the song. Anyway, Julien knew it was for him. And yeah, that Na na na nananana at the end...it thankfully gets stuck in all our heads! Great reaction, I'll go check out your other Beatles reactions.

This song was written for John Lennon's son Julian when John and his wife Cynthia were divorced. Paul ends a lot of his concerts with Hey Jude with the audience participating.

For extra fun, watch them perform live in 1963 or 1964 when the girls were going crazy for them... it was called "Beatlemania" for a reason.... try the live performance of "She Loves You" in 1963 at the ABC Cinema in Manchester UK

@@dame313 Here is the link, Dame, for "She Loves You" in 1963 at the ABC Cinema in Manchester, England that the person above this told you to react to.... ua-cam.com/video/x7prHYwxWPY/v-deo.html It will give you an idea of what "Beatlemania" looks like in the audience, and yes, I was behaving like that too, in 1964 when I was 17, at the Beatles concert I went to here in Cleveland.

You’re right about music and sports - add “food” or cuisine to that list. There are more and more cases where food from one country or tradition gets mixed with another and it is fantastic! And bringing people together around a table of great food is something everyone can love.

Come Together (with the animation), Let it Be (with the four pictures of the individual Beatles), Here Comes the Sun (Photo of the sun above the drum kit, FYI George wrote and sang it, It's the most streamed Beatle's song) or Helter Skelter (White Album cover).

Oh, I forgot to tell you that back in the day the Brits had something we didn't called Extended Play records with 2 songs on each side. So if you see an EP reference you'll know what it is.💖

You need to check out Let It Be next - one of my favorites of theirs. Try the 2009 mix - it’s hard to find the real original album version, and there are a bunch out there that are just rehearsal clips that don’t sound as good. Great song though.

The beatles were a true collaboration between four talented musicians who had a magical chemistry together - the best bands from this era are -led zeppelin , pink floyd , rolling stones and many more. there does not have to be the "face of the band " they all bring ideas and contributions you don't have to pick one member as being the best. The dynamics in bands are always complex but thats human nature. George Harrison in any other band would have been the main songwriter but he was in a band with Lennon and McCartney. If you want to understand the enduring power of this song and understand the anthemic nature of it try watching the live version of Paul McCartney performing it at Glastonbury festival in 2022 . To understand the ethos and impact of the Beatles try the version of All you need is love which was the first live international broadcast its joyful and we need to live in hope.
You will also like the story of the song Blackbird ( truly beautiful from the white album) He wrote it having seen news footage of two young black girls being transported into a mixed school as part of de segregation in American school system but facing a barage of hatred from white sepratists . Years later those woemen were tracked down and met Paul McCartney. Listen to the words of blackbird.

The Beatles are unique in that all 4 players were also songwriters and singers. They all had equal veto power over any song. If `1 didn't like a song, it would be scrapped. Although, no leader suggested, John did start the Beatles (his friend Stu Sutcliff, their original bassist, came up with the name of the band) but as the 60s progressed, Paul became more confident (with good reason) and by 1967 he was the unofficial leader or director of the band. Also, 1968, 69, and 70 saw George Harrison surge ahead and quickly became an equal, with some of their greatest hits, being his song those last few years. Remember, no Beatle ever made it to 30 years old. The band split when they were all JUST KIDS.

If you want the best way to track the release dates of their songs, especially the early stuff, go with the British dates. The American record companies repackaged everything so much you'll hurt yourself trying to sort it out. The most fun way to work out voices, and instruments is to watch their first move, from 1964, A Hard Days Night. It's also still critically acclaimed after 60 years.🧓😎
