  • Meccaniche Veneziane microbrand watch
They are born in Italy, Venice region, and was launched in Kickstarter.
Designs are far from unique and look similar to other brands. Prices are not low. is quality ok for price?
you can visit their site here: www.meccaniche...
The version and model i review is not sold anymore, they have produced a V2... i hope they improved the quality, this is the link: www.meccaniche...
and this was the Kickstarter campaign of this model:

I still think it is one of the best looking GMT's outthere, expecially on that jubilee. The only thing keeping me from buying it is 42mm, 40 or even 39 with slimmer case would be perfection.

Thank you for the review. I learned about the brand from your review and ordered it on Black Friday sale.
I bought the Nereide GMT v4.0 and I absoluterly love it. At the current models they use neither an ETA movement nor a Selitta one, in fact they've gone with Landeron 24GMT which is a fantastic movement. It's quiet, robust and well regulated as it gains/loses 5 sec/day. They also changed the bracelet clasp with a butterfly one which I find to be more practical and aesthetic. My only complaint is their decision to not use a ceramic bezel and they icorporated a BK7 crystal ( fancy to look at it but not very durable). I think that they sould have selected a sapphire bezel like my Phoibos The Great Wall has. All in all, a great watch and waiting for v5.0.
    Thanks again for the review!

Thank you for this review of the GMT Diaspro Classico.
I have the current GMT Diaspro with the Sellita SW 330-1 movement. The watch looks and works great.

This also works ok. is your lume on dial and hands both good? or faulty as this older version? thanks

Yes, lume on dial as well as on the hands is quiet good.
I bought it with 30% Outlet discount (without wooden box and/or papers).

They stopped using the Swiss movement and have gone with Seiko. I have no issue with this as I believe Seiko is actually better. Alongside that, the lume on the new models is fantastic and the clasps and bands are greatly improved. From my understanding, due to poor quality control, they have moved pretty well all assembly and some production in house. This has lead to better quality pieces, although they are no longer eligible for the “Swiss Made“ designation. I honestly am very impressed by the quality of the ones I now own. As you said, microbrands make mistakes, MV seems to have learned from theirs.

No idea why they haven't sent you one. I like their watches but, then again, I get them for a really good price.

@Nice Person Oh the Swiss movement will always be smoother as it has a higher beat-rate. With that being said, I have had better luck in the past with the quality of the Seiko NH35. So it's always a tough choice when I buy watches which one to get.

@Nice Person The GMT is nice. I am friends with a Canadian retailer of these and have all three basic models 4.0 models. I prefer the Arsenale and Redentore to the Nereide as the designs are much more unique. Nonetheless, for the price I get them, the quality cannot be beat. At MSRP, I'm not sure. Plus the Swiss movements they now use are nearly impossible to service in Canada as parts for anything Swiss non-ETA or Rolex aren't readily available. That's why I always go with the Seiko.

@Nice Person I can likely still get them at that price but the watchmaker, who I trust, basically told me that Sellita is a pain to service cause the parts network is non-existent in Canada. Knowing that, I just can't justify it unfortunately. They are great watches nonetheless.

Nice review, thanks. Although as you say it reminds you of other similar watches, it's a nice looking piece. The clasp looks like it was made in the same Chinese factory as the Ollech & Wajs! What were Meccaniche Veneziane thinking about with the lack of lume on the applied markers.

I think the lume is a factory mistake. Not the same doing the hands, and doing a crapy job on the dial
