Alex on Tour deel 2 - Jansen Heeten aan het mais hakselen met hun John Deere 8400i (2018)

Loonbedrijf Jansen Heeten aan het mais hakselen met hun John Deere 8400i en Alex aan het stuur.
In deze video volgen we de hakselploeg van begin tot eind bij het hakselen van een veld mais.
Naast de John Deere 8400i rijden 5 trekkers, de eerste die de hakselaar de mais in volgt is een John Deere 6190R met Schuitemaker Siwa 720 silagewagen.
Daarna zien we 2 New Holland T7040 en 2 Fendt 930 Vario arriveren, beide New Holland rijden met een Schuitemaker Rapide 660 en de Fendt trekkers met Schuitemaker Siwa 720 wagens.
Nadat de mais eraf is wordt de Kemper 360 maisbek weer van transportbescherming voorzien en vervolgt Alex zijn tour.
Contractor Jansen Heeten busy chopping maize with their John Deere 8400i with Alex at the wheel.
In this video we follow the chopping crew from start to finish harvesting a field of maize.
Driving alongside the John Deere 8400i forage harvester are 5 tractors, the first to follow the chopper into the maize is a John Deere 6190R with a Schuitemaker Siwa 720 silage trailer.
We then see 2 New Holland T7040 and 2 Fendt 930 Vario arriving, both New Holland have a Schuitemaker Rapide 660 behind them and the Fendt tractors are using Schuitemaker Siwa 720 trailers.
When all the maize has been cut, the Kemper 360 header is fitted with the transport guard again, and Alex continues his tour.

does the driver of the forager know he doesnt need to switch it on and off all the time when stopping? so much wear on the clutch that engages

It's not the driver that does that, the machine does that by itself. As soon as you lift the header, few seconds later the motor revs will decrease (the chopping assembly is not switched off by the way, only engine revs drop). This is to save fuel and to comply to all those modern emision regulations. You cán override the system, but by default the machine does it like this. Other brands tend to do it as well now with the newer models. Later models of the New Holland FR for example also have this system, as soon as the header is lifted, the engine revs drop, as soon as you drop the header, it goes back up.

Late models of the John Deere 7000 forage harvesters also had it (think as an option), with the 8000 series it comes as standard. It does sound a bit weird at first, but I've noticed more new model forage harvesters of different brands do it as well.
