- Today I share the first based and semi-completed units in my growing Carthage miniature army in 28mm.
Check out JvC Paints free hand shields, they are amazing:
• Victrix Gallic Warrior...
Also Dan at We Wargame has a tutorial on how to do free hand weathered shields and I think they look great too:
• Let’s Paint Burgundian...
I bought these bases from BigRedBat's Shop, and I am liking them so far.
Splendid painting and basing, cracking job...and superb shields!👍👍
Thank you
Awesome, I like the colors chosen in your models I too have Carthaginians I romanized them though, gave them Auxilliary helmets. for my civil war. but now seeing your work I regret my decision. I may repaint or buy another set.
Thank you, I think the Carthaginian warriors set is a very versatile kit
Where do you source those bases from, Alex? The saw pattern on the edges has a neat look to it.
Hey Dan, I bought those MDF bases at Simon Miller's Big Red Bat's shop; there are a bunch of sizes you can choose from. They slot together nicely if you orientate the base in the same direction.
I like it, simple but effective. What rules are you basing for?
Thanks. Regarding rulesets, I'm leaning toward Hail Caesar; I'm building my bases with that game in the back of my mind, but I am hoping to be able to try out other systems too.
Great paintjob! Love those shields. I'm not very familiar with historicals. Why are the edge of your bases squiggly? They look cool, was that your idea?
Thanks, I bought these bases from BigRedBat (I just added a note in the description), and I was inspired to try them out by watching Martin at channel 7th Son. They are MDF bases with holes for magnets. I like the visual effect they give and they fit together like puzzle pieces.
Where do you get those bases from?
Simon Miller's BigRedBat shop
what paint brand are your main " go to" ?
I use Vallejo Model Color and Pro Acryl. The basic set from Pro Acryl has some especially vibrant and strong colors, and a nice set of browns too. Their metallics are pretty good too.
What about you?
@@busydad_painting . I've not got any ProAcryl. I'll have to take a look at them. I do like Valkejo. Also have a small number of lots of brands. Army painter, Reaper MSP, Scale 75, some Citadel and even some big tubes of really cheap acrylics from craft shop for black and white and earthy basing colors. ie I have zero brand loyalty in paints. !
