Thanks everyone for watching! Many people have pointed out the barrel seam on top - I'll be going back to fix it, thanks for those who gave kind and constructive feedback! It's not something I'd even notice normally (I'm about the furthest thing from a perfectionist 😂) The client was consulted throughout the build and is happy with the tank, but that being said, I'll go in with some painted plasticard and add some more riveted metal to cover it up after seeing some excellent suggestions on fixes and improvements 😊 Thanks again for taking the time to watch, the Emperor loves you all!

Oh there could be a planet where people are just living completely like we are on Earth today, completely nonethewiser to any of the crap happening in the greater cosmos, because they only have equivalent instrumentation to our modern day telescopes and radio dishes. The milky way galaxy is large enough that it takes 100,000 years for a particle/wave of light to cross it from edge to edge. So a planet could be in just the right spot that astronomers might not see any of the telltale electromagnetic signs of spacefaring civilizations, or tears into reality from the warp, or anything like that, within the narrow range of years of incoming light they would be able to search through at that time. Maybe the closest world was a hive city that was already demolished, and by the time that light hit your telescope, it's already too late to tell what was there, just another unassuming and completely barren world.
And then one day you're out enjoying a sunny day with your family, and a waaagh, an imperial guard fleet guarded by a small contingent of space marines and an eldar craft world all show up in orbit above your planet, while a warp rift tears into realspace in the sky above and a bunch of necrons burst out of their tombs from below, by random chance or because your world had an important relic on it somewhere, who knows. Best case scenario for such a world is probably finding out all that shit is out there from a good distance, and moving your civilization completely underground to hide any surface traces that you were there, hoping nothing ever gets close enough to discover you anyway...

Something kinda funny, the sandbags that you put around the cupula to protect the commander block the commander's view from its view ports, meaning in order to see whats happening the commander has to expose himself to danger, the thing that sandbags are there to protect him from. Thus, I'm now wondering what insanity this tank went through that made this be sane and logical decision for the crew.

quick fun fact!, the shadowsord carries a six man crew (Commander, Driver, Main Gunner, Remote Gunner, Comms-Operator, Engineer) as opposed to the 10 man crew the baneblade has. the remote gunner slaves all the sponson mounts remotely via a control suite in the main compartment, and all the bolters are fed via autoloader. the usual baneblade carries the second gunner(for the demolisher cannon) and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd loaders who are responsible for the main gun, demolisher, and assisting the 3rd gunner with sponson weapons. the build is sweet though! ive taken several of your ideas to heart!

  • @TarsonTalon
    @TarsonTalon 3 місяці тому +49

Narratively, I think this is what you would see if a planet didn't receive supplies or reinforcements for a long time, due to not being viewed as strategically important compared to other fronts. Hence you don't have new Commissars enforcing aesthetic standards (the old Commissars being taken out by Tau snipers) nor a proper logistics hub. Mostly, crews in scenarios such as this have to scavenge from dead tanks. I assume this tank is from a world invaded by the Tau, and the Tau are a bit more merciful in terms of not razing cities to the ground. Hence, the Guard forces there have become more of a resistance movement than a proper battalion. However, their presence means the Tau can't claim the planet fully, resulting in a stalemate.

Nice build design, though considering the lore of the Shadowsword in it being a Titan Killer Super Heavy tank for the Guard, maybe you could of added some poles on the right side atop of the tank beside the main Turret/Casemate with some folded up camo nets, leaning in to the idea of this tank being a docile weaponry that whilst mobile, could lay in wait before firing, deploying smokes and getting out of there.

I feel like an Armageddon Tank Crew, would definitely retrofit their tank as such. I mean when you're doing reconnaissance and immediate combat stance, in and out of the battlefield, you would want you're essentials to be present. All you need now in that convoy is an Atlas, and a Mechanicus Taurox and a few Russes and some Chimera... Voila! You know have a mechanized division of steel legionnaires! With the Shadowsword as the TOC/FOB

I noticed you used the shells themselves to make shell casings. There's actually an easier way (I used it for my Basilisks and Leman Russ battle cannons). Styrene tube with a plug made of green-stuff or other putty. Cheaper and easier, especially when you need a dozen of the suckers for the rack on a siege cannon. And the shells can be made out of a variety of things, using the originals to make blue-stuff or plaster molds to make green-stuff shells to attach to the styrene tube casings, or plastic skewers/chopsticks for sabot types, etc. (I also have a tendency of gluing a tiny piece of steel into the casings on the bottom of the stack so I can magnetize them to the hull to 'swap out' my loadout depending on the game.

Its funny, tanks have been like this since ww1...
ww2 tanks had tons of external storage and some had belly escape hatches that crew could use as bthrooms
post ww2 the brits began adding tea pots and cooking inside the tank. many countries removed the bottom escape hatch as a mine weakness... though some replaced it.. with a toilet.
Some modern tanks have enough space that the crew can actually lay down to sleep, or chairs that lean right back into a bed.
Yes, in some cases, you can eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, and everything inside a tank. not leaving it for days on end till it needs supplies

Bedrolls, clothing, chest carapace, knives, laspistols, boltpistols, and carabines, water, food, protection against weapons of mass destruction ("gasmasks, rad-suits, etc"). Everything from that group should be left inside the tank.
Bedrolls, clothing, helments and chest-armour do lower the chance of accident inside and when the tank is hit, it slows the shrapnells internal spread.
Handweapons and everything else are not so big to be left outside, ESPECIALLY, when there is a possibility of contamination the whole outside of the tank by poison, illness, or sorcery, when there are nigh- (or flatout YEAH-) invisible enemy units, enemy armies specializing on mass attacks (lower Orcs, Tyranides, ex-imperial traitors, demons, plague-zombies, etc.)
Sandbags on the tank and long barreled handguns hanged next to the hatches are a good idea. Granades next to the hatches much less so. The republic im from, had during the WW2 era quite intricate fortification web (was inspired by French Maginot - line). The reason im mentioning it is - in smaller pillboxes, there was tubes with a closing on top, ment to slide down (on specific areas around the pillbox) an active live handgranade. If I would be in gigantic intricate tank, possibly facing mindless enemy hordes, i would LOVE to have something like the granade slides, just to clean the closest area around the vehicle. Some semi-inteligent unmanned turrets might be nice, but in WH40K Imperium that means the gun servitors.
Tank this big will probably have its own thermonuclear plasma generator, as a "powerpack". Therefore it is likely some lasguns can be in process of re-charging on the tank turret.
Some flying "drones" could be extremely ussefull for both recoinossance (and target acquisition) and supporting activities (mail messaging, quick deliveries, harrassing enemies - including priming and using IEDs) I would immagine a cherub-like servitor, capable of hauling main gun shell (and even dumping it on enemy armour when traveling in harsh terrain forcing them into columns).
Single point i do not like on your vision is obstructing the main turets movement by all that thinks pilled right next to it (or behind it).

Less flow of air would cause immense over heating issues, I’d bet that huge fkn tank sucks in massive amounts of air. I personally also (sorry for these nitpicks, I see this constantly, I’m venting ….(: )
