      It does work, ive been dying my hair red for years. I actually put my leftover dye into my shampoo and conditioner. I only use my shampoo every 2 weeks, in the meantime I will co wash my hair with my DIY conditioner. I out the conditioner in my hair at the beginning of my shower, do everything else, then rinse my hair. In total my conditioner stays in my hair for about 30 minutes. My red hair dye lasts me 2 months before I have to touch up, but by then I have to bleach my roots. Recently, I have been letting my roots grow to give myself a shadow root.

      It does! if you want it even darker you can use a *very* small amount of black dye. Add it into the red very slowly and check the colour by brushing it onto a paper towel, it wont give you an exact colour but it'll give you an idea

    does mixing the dye with your conditioner for upkeep change the color? it seems like that would dilute it and make it a different shade once you put it on your hair?
    also do you have any tips for getting even color throughout your hair?

    • @Misasaur
      @Misasaur  3 роки тому +2

      For the mix for upkeep, it doesn't change the shade if the colour of it is lighter than your hair I've found, I just helps bring the brightness back into it. I try not to let the colour fade too much before I do that.
      Sometimes I'll mix in a larger amount of dye with the conditioner until it looks like the shade of my hair and that works as well without using as much dye (I hope this makes sense its a little difficult to explain)
      And to get even colour throughout just make sure all of your hair is lighter than the colour you want. So for this colour, I can get away with brassy spots because the red is much darker and just covers it. Luckily with reds, brassy tones blend right in. For colours like blue/green or pastels you'd pretty much need everything to be completely blonde first.

    how do you keep it from bleeding onto things? i get its going to fade but, it gets on my neck and when I sleep it gets on my face and arms and its a mess. when you sweat, do you just let it drip red? is this the price of dying your hair red LOL

    • @Misasaur
      @Misasaur  8 місяців тому +1

      Usually its just until the first wash that it's bad, but the longer you rinse it out and the more washes you do the less itll bleed/stain. You want to TRY to rinse it until the water runs clear, and make sure you get ALL of it out, it can be easy to miss behind your ears/back of neck. I never really had an issue with sweating red but I guess if you were to sweat a lot before the first wash it would run red/pink. Also if you can tolerate putting your hair up in a scrunchy or something thatll help prevent it from staining you overnight

      Hey, this is gonna be a little long. SO initially I had gone to a salon to get by hair bleached because I had previously used dyes on it and knew I would not have been able to do it myself (it would have been very uneven). When I bleach my roots now (they are naturally very dark brown) I use any blue powder bleach with 30 or 40 vol developer! You don't need it super light or have to worry about it being more yellow than blonde because the red will fully cover it but yes the lighter your hair is before dying the more vibrant the red will be.

    • @Misasaur
      @Misasaur  3 роки тому +2

      Hm that's a tough one, to be honest using these semi permanent dyes aren't great for having natural looking hair because it fades really fast and if your hair is bleached under it will fade into a brighter red. You should be able to add red if you're trying to get it more burgundy but I'm not 100% sure how it will absorb into your hair right after dying it. So it might be a good idea to wash it a few times first.

    • @Misasaur
      @Misasaur  4 роки тому +1

      Hey! So my thoughts here are that the blonde parts may fade faster and I'm not sure it'll completely fade back to your natural colour. I've never tried to fade a colour out completely but I've let it fade for months and still looked like a mix of the colour and the colour underneath. I've never tried colour removers either, so I'm not sure if that would bring you back to your natural colour. I hope that answers your question enough!

    So if you keep the temporary dye for 30 mins, is it gonna stay permanent?

    • @Misasaur
      @Misasaur  4 роки тому

      No it's still a semi-permanent dye. It takes at least 30 minutes to process, if you rinse it earlier it won't hold at all and you wont end up with the colour you want! Semi-permanent dyes last anywhere between 3 weeks to 3 months depending on a lot of different factors. In a lot of cases they fade but never completely rinse out.

    I was always told to dye hair when dirty but I read the instruction and it said to wash hair before dying I was confused

      You wash it and then let it air dry, then dye

    Not using warm water on your hair can cause you not to be able to wash the dirt from the pores of your scalp.

    Beautiful color I was debating going red and after watching this I’m so doing it!! Btw where did you get the black sweater you’re wearing? It’s so cute! ♥️

      Yay! Hope the red turns out well!! The sweater is thrifted from the men's section lol. Unfortunately I have no idea where it's actually from.

      For what I used in video, I believe so. I have recently switched to using manic panic vamp red and mixing a very little bit of Arctic fox in the colour Transylvania (black)

    It’s actually better not to wash your hair before dying...it grabs the color more

      I used to think the same but on the manic panic website & the instructions on the bottles recommend clean hair.

      Yerp, a lot of semi-permanent brands I've seen recommend coloring on clean blow dried hair, and permanent brands sometimes want dirty-ish hair. They like to keep you on your toes.

      This is not true. It may appear to grab more, but it's not your hair that its grabbing. Its the dirt and grease in your hair. Once you wash your hair you will actually notice it fades more the first couple washes then it would had you started with clean hair. Permanent dyes are different. They actually penetrate the cuticle so you dont need to wash your hair and its actually a good idea not to beforehand so you have some oil buildup on ypur scalp to protect it from irritation.

      The oils in your hair make it harder for the hair to set in it better to bleach your hair without washing for this reason because the oils in your hair prevent damage

      For a regular color-dye , the one with developer ..yes, it is better not to wash for at least 4-5 days. But for direct dye, it has to be clean hair with no product(direct color - semi color)

    thank you!! i recently dyed my hair burgundy with a garnier dye three weeks ago and it’s already faded despite me touching it up last week so i’m gonna go for the manic panic dye & report back when i use it :)

    • @Misasaur
      @Misasaur  6 років тому +7

      Oh no! box dyes are the worst! They don't last as long as they should and its really difficult to bleach out whatever is leftover! Manic panic is pretty good. It does fade from the burgundy fairly fast but you end up with a red and eventually a pink so it still looks nice as it fades. Good luck!
