SWEET HOME CHICAGO - Manitoba Hal & Ken Middleton

- The final spontaneous recording from Manitoba Hal and me outside our hotel at the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain a few weeks ago. I'm not singing on this one ('cause I don't know the song), but Hal does a fantastic performance. Do listen to the ending though. It is spectacularly messy.
Written by Robert Johnson, this has become a blues standard.

It doesn't get any better than this
Just sitting here at my home in Chicago and enjoying! I can't believe all those people walked by without stopping.
You two seem to have a contrast of styles that sit so well together, a very pleasing and exciting performance
Fantastic! I love the spectacularly messy
Thank you for listening.
So good to see another video of you and Hal! Fantastic!!! You sound so great together.
watched, liked and shared on FB :-) thank you for all those uploads. .
Pure awesomeness!
Spectacular, masterful, a pure delight listening to.
Amazing! Loved it!
Two of my favorites kicking up some blues dust!
Love this so much!
Totally impressed, i keep practising and its encouraging to hear the uke being mastered
It is terrific stuff to play.
How many kinds of amazing awesomeness are in this track? The song, the singing, the voice, the playing, made this the best version ever for me (tipping Blues Bros out of first place for a long, long time.
+pamela mcpherson Thanks Pamela. Glad you like it. Hal and I have played often together.
+Ken Middleton You're a great team, how I wish I was at that festival. Have you got any festivals or tours coming up in 2016?
+pamela mcpherson Yes, we will be playing at the same festival next year. Can't say where yet as the details have not been published. Where are you based?
+Ken Middleton I'm in Sydney, Aust, a lotta love for ukes here. I'm thinking of an o/seas trip next year, might do a northern hemisphere uke festival tour LOL. Till then, I'll work through your bluegrass tutes and tabs. (Love that you use music notation)
fantastic! Hal has some wonderful picking styles that complement your own...so much to try and learn from yall on this...Hal should be down here in the land of the blues he would do well! I really enjoyed this! Thank you Mr. Ken. :0)
Hal is a great player to jam with. And yes, it was terrific fun to record.

Thanks for watching, Ingrid.
Thanks.
Yeah, what Adie says.
I couldn't believe folks were walking by without stopping, especially for the ending.
We both are playing Ohanas. Hal has a TK-50 and I am using my usual old TK-35G.
Superb - hell better than superb!
GREAT!!!!:)))
Great Rockin!
+heino huttula Thanks.
I am learning that this is my kind of music
Glad you like it.

Nice, I liked that. :)
And we said Heeeey heeeeey . . .yes we wanna go!!! :-D
Wow! What a fabulous comment. Thanks.
looks as if you are sat outside the hotel in the park (pittville) you could have called in for a cup of tea...pity I missed the festival as I was away.
Hal is a really good player.
Yes, Ceryl, we don't play the same way at. However, we each listen to what the other is doing - that's the secret.
I suppose that because we were sitting in front of the entrance to the hotel, not on the sidewalk, people would have thought it impertinent to stop and listen.
Yes, Hal's voice is silky smooth, isn't it? Thanks J.
why is nobody throwing dollars at your feet???? This is awesome!!
James Cornelius Thank you, James.
Haha. What a wonderful comment, Stewart.
Thanks. I think we recorded 6 or 7 in all (a couple of failures).
Thanks. Hal and I seem to play well together.
Awesome .... I am hooked. Love your playing and the sound of your instrument. What version and model is your ukulele?
Looks like I am playing an Ohana TK-35G and Hal is play an Ohana TK-50G.
Thanks so much for the info Ken. Those are some very nice ukes. They sound great. I will be keeping my eye out for one of these because I think the tenor is the size I am looking for.
They are certainly good value for money, Franko.
Hi Ken,
I decided to return the Alvarez AU90 tenor I had due to difficulty playing bar chords on the first fret. What totally convinced me that I was right about the issue with the nut was that I went to two music shops in Albuquerque and tried out their Ohana ukuleles and boy was I amazed. They all played great with little effort to bar chords at the first fret. I tried both concert and tenor models. I also tried a baritone BK20 and it had the most awesome sound and am not sure but I am leaning toward that one or one of the tenor models TK20 or TK22. Thanks for the advice.
Лучшая демонстрация, чем отличается музыкально укулеле low-G и high-G!
Да. Очень проницательный комментарий. Спасибо.
I once went to a party and Eric Idle from Monty Python was there. Everyone ignored him rather than be thought of as a groupie.
One who is Canadian and one who almost is.
English people are very reserved. Elvis could be singing on the street and most people wouldn't stop to listen.
