To all those who think she isn't considered dark, which country you guys live in? I wish I was living in the same bubble as you guys are. Sadly In India, even dusky color, beautiful girl isn't considered pretty because she isn't fair. Forget about the color you are born with. Get tanned for a day and hear your uncles and aunties telling you how dark you have become. I wrote this #shortfilm I am a shade lighter than the girl we have casted in our short film. And I have heard hundred times how dark I am. Maybe because I come from North India, hence the expectation of fair skin is much higher; SADLY.
The motive of the film was to say, that dark is beautiful. whatever shade it might be. 🙏
Lol that's not true here in the south side you can see actress who are dark, aunties might look at you like you're dark when you are actually dark, uncles ka chodoh ich aap they're even more darker than me but that doesn't mean being dark is inferior or something it's just a colour and we don't have to worry about it and dusky skin always looks beautiful.

I've got so used to these comments that I just laugh it off 😂
Luckily, I have a very loving husband... Once, someone jokingly asked him "which color did you fall for? Face or arms?" To which he replied "the colour of her heart - gold" ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I knew I made the right choice 😇

My mother always compared me with my very fair sisters...she always made me wear light colour clothes saying dark colours will merge with my dark complexion...I was filled with inferiority complex...it was only when I entered my 30s , could I realise that I wasn't that dark that I would merge with the dark coloured clothes or darkness itself...I feel really sad when I remember those old days of my childhood and teenage... today I am super confident about my looks and everything!

In our family there is a lot of racism...I am a medium skin tone but some of my cousins are 2-3 shades lighter than me... From my childhood my family always compared us showing that fair complexion is considered beautiful they use to Rank us based on skin colour... When I was young they tricked me into believing that fair was beautiful but as I grew up my views have completely changed... I have a racist family... Even my mom sometimes.. They say the same thing , because I had a bf who was dark... They didn't like him because they said " You'll have dark kids" And even my bf was a racist, he only wanted fair girlfriends ....we broke up now ..... Honestly I think every colour is beautiful... I adore black people and i personally like dark guys more but my family is against it... I have a sister who is 10 he is my mom's brother's daughter and damnnn.... They have made that girl feel insecure about herself at this age,my aunt calls her kali because she's a dusky skin tone... I feel so bad... But still her grandmother tells her that" no you were fair when you were born and you're not kali(dark)" but whyyy... Why can't they just tell her that even kali is beautiful that every skin tone is beautiful.... I always tell her this that she is beautiful just the way she is.... If I start arguing with my family on this topic I know I'll fight a lot so i don't speak much but i have told my mom about it and my younger brother too damn that little guy... Even my family is targeting him I try to tell him that every colour is beautiful but my mom has already made him feel like fair is beautiful so sometimes he just doesn't agree with me he's 8 yo.... I just wish that this society changes and my family changes... I'll try to bring the change as much as I can I'll be the one to start it in our family as no one tried it yet.... I'm an Indian, but sadly I don't like this thing about India... They judge you a lot... Unfortunately...i hope this sick mentality of people changes.

This story reminded me those days, those nights were I cried thinking of the ignorance and mocking of my friends calling be a gorilla due to my dark skin tone. I used to apply a lot of fairness creams to make my self fair. I blamed my parents for my color. Even sometimes my own mother complained me about my color, Well its something that's still happening, but now l learned to ignore those. I only want say something to you all , yes I am dark skinned, but it doesn't mean that I am ugly, well I am indeed the creation of God, the same god who created you all. And actually who defined the definition of being beautiful is just being fair, human right. I pity on those humans who doesn't understand what beauty is, it is quality in a person that gives pleasure to senses. It's not that what you defines by just in terms of colour.

My classmates don't and will never tease me about my skin colour in class infront of everyone but there's a boy who i think has the same skin colour as mine yet everyone teases him about his skin colour soo much and crack jokes on him I really feel bad for him whenever that happens :(
After being raised with great love in my extended family the early twenties were quite horrid and made me very self conscious of my dark skin. Then one day a man who hated this prejudice showed up and we were married! Now our kids are married to men who appreciate the people they are. And ultimately that is more wonderful than anything else. We need to bring awareness to appreciate all hues of the skin. Sadly it is much better in the West and the USA.
