Ay man, as the person singing the song, I really liked watching your reaction to this. I have heard the Michael Jackson thing for years, and it's funny that before I started singing it came to mind for you. Also, we hope younger people discover that there are women who play instruments, and we hope we are not the last of a dying breed. Thank you for your humor and recognition. 'Predicate cha!!

So glad someone requested this! This song is a real tearjerker for me, my mom played the heck out of it when I was a little girl and even then it would make me cry because of the feeling in the song. She passed away in 2008 and this is in a playlist I play every year on the anniversary of her death in honor and remembrance. After her passing this song had more of an emotional impact on me so I can't listen to it often unless I need a good cry.
I'm a new subscriber and am currently binging your videos, I would love to see you do Because of You by Kelly Clarkson which is another emotional song if you haven't done that one already. Keep up the great work, I enjoy your reactions!

@@JoyceIrby Oh my goodness what an honor to have you reply to my comment! Isn't it amazing how music can have such a lasting impact on people? I truly believe that I Miss You wouldn't have made the impression it did on me at such a young age without you lending your voice to it, somehow you were able to inject such emotion in that song. If anyone else had sang it, it wouldn't have been the same. Songs like that are what inspired me to want to sing from a young age, even if it never went past karaoke lol. So just know that you singing that one little song all those years ago touched at least one person's life and the fact that you took the time to comment shows that not only do you have a beautiful voice, you are a beautiful person as well. Thank you for your kind words and may you be Blessed.

@@SweepsSlotswithSarah This is why I sing!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. It does matter to me, that I can affect one person. Life is so challenging and to be able to help anyone navigate this complicated journey is a blessing for me as well. And if you like singing...please keep doing it, if only for yourself. I believe music is a powerful healing too. It can be healing to sing as well as hearing someone else sing. Thank you for blessing my day.

She was missing a significant other and herself with them. If you notice when the people were coming in the door, she was looking for someone. When that person wasn't there you can see it on her face. The band was going on tour and those gathered were to see them off. Her looking at the window was bringing back the memory of the "send off" gathering and how she had no one come for her.

This is my favorite group of all time and the fiercest ensemble of female musicians ever. The song was written by the keyboard player and sang by the bassist for the band Joyce "Fenderella" Irby the baddest bass player alive. Well I know that the video is about loss and heartbreak something that she was going through personally at the time of the video and the song and video whomever came up with the concept must have been aware of it. The tour bus at the end was very symbolic of having to move on even during loss. She's my favorite singer, bass player, music composer and producer. I was not surprised that this song became a monster hit. It still rocks today. It's not old school just some of the best real music played by real musicians that have opened doors for today's female musicians. The video and song are really self explanatory. Klymaxx rules forever. 🎵🎸

Ok, so here is what I have heard the song is (loosely) about: the subject of the song is beginning her singing career with her band on the road, and this song is her leaving her family, going on tour, returning home to visit, and then leaving again. Hence, the "I Miss You" every time she has to leave them behind.

One thing to remember about classic music videos: often the video had little or nothing to do with the real meaning of the song. The record label would hire a producer to make the video and many times the artist had little or no say in the theme or style of the video. Soul Asylum's "Runaway Train" has nothing to do with teen runaways / Amy Grant wrote "Baby Baby" about her new infant and wanted to do a baby-themed video but was vetoed. The list goes on and on.
